  1. First anouncement from TradeWeekRadio was: "sam reid @westernbulldogs to GWS for compensation pick" and they just anounced: "The Crows confirm they've secured pick 2 and will go after Brad Crouch" So nothing definite re Clark as yet
  2. Someone just tweeted on #tradeweek: "Clark deal done: Clark + 29 + 34 for Pick 16 & 20 & 38" No idea how much truth there is to it though, but TradeWeekRadio also tweeted just after: "we're hearing two trades could be about to fall. stick with us....more to come"
  3. 21 seems to be the magic number - pick 21, played 21 senior games and 21 years old.
  4. This expression gets bandied about far too much on these forums for mine. Whether Green's accepting the 12 month terms involves the captaincy or not is simply idle speculation by myself and others here, and even if it did, it is hardly "holding the club to ransom". Green would obviously be after what he thinks is best for himself (as he should), and the club are obviously going to pay/come to an agreement based on what they think is best for them. Of course there will be a certain amount of compromise involved on both sides and I guess we will find out what was involved in the deal in due course. But "holding the club to ransom"?? Nah!
  5. Agree 100% - no offence taken :-)
  6. I get the feeling that the deciding factor may be that he will retain the captaincy; then again, I'm not correct very often :-)
  7. Well, you stated: "He's big, strong, and a great mark. He needs to find consistency, but should be coming into his own. I endorse him as a potential recruit." - now does the "is he bigger than you, Ben?" comment make sense?
  8. Regardless of whether we pick him up or not, it's a bit unfair to tar and feather him over one bad miss... if that were to be used as a selection criteria, Neitz would never have pulled on the red and blue, Buddy would be playing country league, as would Riewoldt and numerous others.
  9. If I am not mistaken, that is an article from yesterday afternoon (5:27pm), before the AFL came out and publicly said that this deal could not go ahead.
  10. People tend to overlook the fact that our backline is one of our stronger areas... An AA in Frawley, Rivers (2nd in the Bluey), Garland (top 10 in the Bluey), Grimes when he is fit, Blease who has pace to burn and will continue to provide run and carry out of the backline for a long time. It's hardly surprising that Warnock couldn't crack it for a spot, which in turn must have dented his confidence (something that was pretty obvious when he did get a game). At a new club like the Suns, where he has a good chance of being a regular at the top level, Warnock's confidence will grow and he will soon be back to the form that had us all gushing about his prospects not so long ago. I hope he does well wherever he ends up.
  11. When he is off his form, Colin tends to give away a lot of silly/cheap free kicks. If he can get that out of his game he will be even more valuable than he already is. Arguably one of the most consistent and reliable backmen in the AFL.

    Daffy

I thought I heard him through the ump's mike, asking Petterd, "now Ricky, what seems to be the problem?".
  13. I notice Cam mentioned something about a local team called the Tianjin Demons. If we go to play a demo game again, I'll head over for sure... Shanghai last year was a great experience.
  14. Based on what? Pick 50 in the 2008 draft, played just 5 games at AFL level with a return of one solitary goal against the Suns (yes, I know he had 30 from 20 VFL games, but against what?). He's big, yes... but I wouldn't expect the club would want to give too much for him.
  15. I get the feeling FBPO just wanted to get that pun in :-)
  16. I posed a similar question based on what I had found out here: http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/28697-trade-week-discussion/page__view__findpost__p__495426
  17. What do we know about Lisle? He has only played a handful of games for the Hawks this year (5?) and apart from taking a good number of marks in a couple of games (15 vs GC and 10 vs Pies), he has kicked one goal and not amassed very many possessions. Yes he is 196cm and 92kg and yes he has kicked 30 goals in 20 games with Box Hill, but does that qualify him? Also worth noting that as well as being relatively unproven, he was only pick 50 in the 2008 draft, so we shouldn't be offering up too much for him I would think.
  18. The only teams that should have banjo in their club songs are Adelaide and Port Adelaide!
  19. I would argue that yes, you cannot just tell an introverted kid to change, but an introverted kid may well come out of himself as he grows more confident in his abilities. I've watched it with my own youngest son who has always been very shy, but this year as he realised he has some good footy skills and was doing well in his Auskick sessions against bigger kids, he has started to be much more outgoing and as a result has more belief in his own ability, resulting in his skills improving at a more rapid rate. As I said before, I think the kids that may be more problematic are those who have an over-inflated view of their abilities and don't want to listen to advice.
  20. Yes, if Neeld is the hard man they say he is, then Col will not be shown much love if he continues his hot and cold ways. I'm sure Neeld is well aware of this issue and would not be at all surprised if he hasn't already had a few words. Col would become a real weapon if Neeld can manage to get him to perform to his potential on a weekly basis - Brownlow material even. A word of caution... saying Col is one of the better players because he managed 10th in the Bluey won't cut it with a number of posters here; just look at the "experts" thoughts on Green who was just one place behind him in 11th.
  21. The only thing I saw in that Demonology thread that I liked was that morphing avatar
  22. Never read Pinnochio as a child? :-)
  23. Not sure what you were reading DA, but there is absolutely nothing in my post that alludes to anything like you seem to be suggesting I'm talking about. I was talking about their view of themselves in a purely footballing sense. I couldn't give a rat's about what they look like or what they get up to in their spare time (well, within reason).
  24. Well, I guess it can work both ways. Do you want a kid who is convinced he has all it takes and doesn't want to learn? Sometimes, to quote Nick Lowe, you've got to be cruel to be kind. And I have no objection to kids with an opinion of themselves as long as they can walk the walk.
