  1. I actually think it...the Suns are starting to show signs of weariness, and we will be trying to take focus off tanking talk.
  2. The club obviously believes that they can afford it, so unless you are privy to information that says the club is telling us porkies, then the money involved goes out of the equation. If we were to stack up on midfielders, pray tell who they are going to be delivering the ball to... all of those forwards that have stepped up in Clark's absence? Go ahead and hand your membership back, I will buy another for my second son to make up the difference.
  3. We will be shopping for more than just midfielders, if McLardy's comments mean anything (which I imagine they would): "The Demons will target a key forward during the trade period and are the best-placed club to snare Travis Cloke, should he decide to leave Collingwood, according to Melbourne president Don McLardy." http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-confirm-cloke-room-20120730-23a45.html#ixzz22B45GGdt With all of the midfielders in the world and only one reliable target up forward, we are wasting our time... I hope we get Cloke and a couple of decent midfielders.
  4. I'm at the "Rupert Pupkin" stage and plan to start taking hostages if they don't improve real soon.
  5. No, we would be no better off, but quite possibly a great deal worse off. Any new coach will bring a change of game plan, their own team of assistants and will want to restructure the list according to their own game based philosophies. In other words, we would be taking a few more steps backwards to go forwards... not to mention that we would be further dividing the list we currently have, particularly those who have committed to the Neeld direction. The last thing this list club needs now are further disruptions and divisions. All of the talk on this site about changing captaincy and changing the coach after they have had less than a season to make any kind of impact, is laughable. This is a football club, NOT a fast food outlet!
  6. So you are in essence saying that if the younger inexperienced players are under-performing, we sack the leadership group? To Natopia indeed! (http://shireroth.org/shirewiki/Natopia)
  7. The property market never really collapses...it just requires investors to wait it out; something you are patently not capable of doing.
  8. Bandicoot has no answers...he is merely a product of the "I want it and I want it now" generation. Fortunately his [censored] and wind amount to nothing in the scheme of things.
  9. I was called up in 1972...on my birthday no less! I was deferred because I was studying at Swinburne and then Gough got voted in later that year and National Service got voted out; can't say I was disappointed.
  10. I'm trying to figure out when I passed into the alternate universe where Sarah Palin is "hot"... I'm afraid that Clutch Cargo jaw just doesn't do it for me :-)
  11. Olympics got off to a great start in the womens' soccer... introducing the North Korean team on the big screen, showing them alongside the South Korean flag. Wonder if the Borat anthem will get played again at some point in the competition.
  12. Nit picking?? Whatever. My last link was to the blood rule literature... not trying to justify anything, just putting it there as that is the stance taken by the sporting bodies which was developed for the Australian National Council on AIDS, Hepatitis C and Related Diseases, by the Australian Institute for Primary Care.
  13. Perhaps it was something to do with your statement: "After working throughout the Africa's for 6 years and going out with a chick who worked for the Gates foundation doing HIV/AIDS research I have a fair idea how disease is spread via blood transmission and it's not by wiping it on someones shorts." ... to me that seemed to be saying that this meant you were talking with some sort of authority on the subject. I merely question how that was so and offered my opinion as to why wiping blood on someone's shorts could actually lead to the transmission of blood borne infection to other players. As you say, "all good".
  14. Take your mind back to the episode about the Germans and the infamous line "Whatever you do, don't mention the war!" You can imagine what would come out of the mouth of a severely concussed (as a result of a mishap with said moose head) Basil Fawlty.
  15. Perhaps Basil's head injury actually resulted from a falling moose head?
  16. Speak for yourself RF... I found it quite informative and I'm sure others might as well.
  17. What work were you doing in Africa? Was it directly related to the HIV/AIDS issue? If not, then that means absolutely nothing. I went out with an art teacher for years, does that qualify me as an art teacher? The fact is, blood on any item of clothing in a body contact sport such as AFL, ARL, Basketball etc, can come into contact with open wounds on other players...or are you only seeing this as being an issue relating to the player whose shorts had the blood applied to them? Whether we like it or not, the blood rule exists and will continue to exist and the players must respect that fact. Oh and yes, I know that wiki page I referenced was a pretty poor effort, but perhaps the official information booklet aimed at sport participants in Australia "Blood rules OK" will explain it better... http://sma.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Blood_rulesOK-booklet.pdf
  18. Don't know which govt allowed the sale of alchohol to aboriginals (doesn't really matter), but that was really probably just a formality, as they were getting access to it anyway. There is a pretty good introduction to alchohol and its affect on indigenous communities here at the Creative Spirits website... http://www.creativespirits.info/aboriginalculture/health/aboriginal-alcohol-consumption.html
  19. I can't believe that you are even asking the question, but as you are, I suggest you do some reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_rule
  20. Mathouse started his coaching career at Footscray with the following record: 7th (1984), 3rd (1985), 8th (1986), 7th (1987), 8th (1988) and 13th (1989)... so his finals record was relatively poor. Yes, Roos had a much more successful start to his coaching career, but it could easily be argued that he had a much more talented and experienced list to work with. I was hoping at the time that we would get Sheedy, but they chose not to go down that path, and I have seen little at GWS to suggest that Sheedy is having any major impact there... I am more inclined to believe that he is less coach and more spruiker at that club. As for Malthouse and Roos, neither was making themselves available for a coaching position at the time and Neeld was believed by many to be one of the best on offer... that may or may not be the case; but he needs time to prove this.
  21. I think you'll find that Jackie's "do your own legwork" is code for, "I have a vague memory of something along those lines, but perhaps you could find out for me and post on my behalf". Well, it seems to have blown up his his/her face, doesn't it :-)
  22. Is that the same coaching staff and administration you are calling for the sacking of in another thread?
