In an earlier post you compared Jakes hit out count with that of McEvoy (28 vs 39?)...in all fairness you should perhaps also compare their game time experience (very important in ruck men I would think)... Both are 23 years old, both commenced their playing careers in 2009 (Jake debuted in Rd1 2009, so I'm not sure where your 5 yrs comes from)), Spencer in an injury interrupted career has a total of 14 games under his belt, McEvoy has 66 games worth of experience. The last couple of games have shown it is starting to click for Jake... If he can stay injury free, I would contend that by the time he has 66 games worth of experience, he will be light years ahead of the likes of McEvoy.

A Brave Neeld World ... Some signs of life are emerging
hardtack replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
If we're so bad, then please feel free to go and follow another team. RR made some valid observations, but you nay say purely because these observations were made by RR. -
Didn't I read somewhere in the last couple of weeks that Green has done (or is doing) a coaching course? If so, I wonder if there's any chance the MFC might retain him at the club in some sort of role that could allow him to gain the practical experience that could see him eventually progressing to an assistant coaching position.

Well, I'm a big Divine fan...are you related? ;-)

Must be the Silly Season... now Dane Swan suspended for 2 wks

In effect, the club maintaining silence over what transpired is, in a way, making it as bad as the Doggies case, because Joe Public will think the worst (why would a club dump a Brownlow favourite for two matches heading towards finals time?) and rightly or wrongly, by extension the AFL will be criticised for not reigning in this sort of behaviour. -

Let me think... one guy who happens to be one of Western Bulldogs best performing players found semi conscious with a small amount of "E" in his possession, followed by a brownlow favourite being suspended for two weeks by his own club (who won't give any further details) for being out in the wee small hours and later dobbed in by a team mate for the state he was in at practice? If I was the AFL, I might just be a little concerned over this kind of publicity for the game. -

You may have no problem with it DemonWA (I certainly have no problem with it either), but if the club has a rule that there will be no late night escapades during the season, then they have no option but to punish the offender. After all, they are paying their players a sh!tload of money (members' money) and require them to be at peak fitness for the entires season... and lack of sleep/over indulgence, is not the best way to maintain peak levels of fitness. -
How To Make Melbourne 'Relevant' Again ...

Forget Boak I would say...looks like he's ready to sign a three year deal with Geelong: http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/boak-cuts-power-eyes-deal-with-cats-20120806-23qew.html -
You'd have to ask the OP that question...however, the way I read it was that he was giving grades to the listed players' performances this year, in much the same way we were graded at school; I may be wrong, but that's just how I interpreted it.
-
I think you'll find that the OP was grading the players in terms of where they stand relative to our list...NOT the AFL.
-
According to an article on AFL.com: So maybe he was going to be safe anyway.

Yes, to quote:

I'm sure I read that McKenzie was a late replacement because of a knee complaint; yet the list has him as "shoulder (test)"? Edit: Thought so... from the MFC site game review:

The Nathan Jones Appreciation thread.....
hardtack replied to cowboy_from_hell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah, I'm pretty excited over his form as well. -
Yes, but don't forget RF, they have neither the view nor knowledge of the game, that we here on Demonland have.
-
My conclusion would be that there were a number of D'landers near the bench; putting the boot in while he is down is something a few on here are very adept at doing.
-
The only one they need to believe in, is themselves... half time now, and it's looking like they have that belief, regardless of the fact it's a weaker opposition.

I'm loving Tappy's beard.

I had absolutely no doubts that Jones would re-sign...he is MFC to the core.
