  1. I'm pretty certain that our natopian friend wanted Malthouse of Roos in the coaches box... however, I sincerely doubt that even under their tutilage our fortunes would be any better than they presently are. The thing that I have trouble comprehending with these kinds of posters is that they seem to believe that only established coaches can bring success... is this telling us that the Malthouses and Roos of the world were never first time coaches; that they have always tasted nothing but success?
  2. Natopian culture is characterized by a general sense of aloofness, immaturity, and irreverence... possibly impatience as well?
  3. You take the cake Distopia... first you blame Neeld for the likely sacking of Schwab and McLardy, and in the very next sentence you call for the sacking of Schwab and McLardy... you bring to mind a form of kicking that disappeared from the game decades ago... perhaps you should go the same way as the drop kick?
  4. You'll get used to Bluey...despite the fact that he seems to like the sound of his own keyboard, he does occasionally say something worthwhile...just not this time.
  5. Don't his bail conditions state that he is not allowed out of Melbourne? Know he went to Sydney, but, and I may be wrong, I think the club had to apply for permission, so if he's ,not playing, that may not be possible.
  6. Davis and Cook are yet to debut at AFL level, Morton has been getting a lot of chances lately and doesn't have the versatility of Jetta, which is probably something working in Jetta's favor at he moment, and as I mentioned before, Gysberts has apparently been having stamina issues and is probably in a much more secure position as far as his future at the club is concerned. I think it is a bit of a concern that you are calling out the club for promoting a player too soon purely because of his aboriginality, as if this is going to give us some edge in support. This is not the indigenous round and Jetta is from WA so the thought that this was some sort of marketing ploy, never entered my head... I prefer to believe he is considered fit enough to play, particularly if he is coming on as the sub.
  7. It's not an isolated situation at all, except in the minds of those such as yourself who see it as a "marketing" decision...pray tell just what it is that we are marketing in playing a guy from West Australia in Darwin? Or does your mind work in such a way that you see our club assuming that any indigenous player will be a major draw card in Darwin? Rather than joining dots, you seem to have put one and one together and come up with three.
  8. What, every time a player from the best list at Casey gets promoted on merit as well as fulfilling a positional need, it's a marketing decision?
  9. Not in Darwin if said player is aboriginal apparently ... however, not all is lost as it Is ok to allow players such as Dunn, Bate, Spencer etc to play for their careers in Melbourne.
  10. You have any connection to the St Kilda FC perchance?
  11. Answer... "Yes", indeed you are being cynical, and unnecessarily so in my opinion. Reason? Well, if you look at the pinned thread on last week's Casey game, you will see the following: Spencer is getting a game this week for obvious reasons, Moloney is not getting a game this week for equally obvious reasons (how many opportunities does he need?), Gysberts does not appear in that list of best players and is likely underdone as by all reports he was unable to play out the entire game well, so it is patently obvious that Jetta has earned a call up and has earned the right to prove his worth before the season is done with.
  12. Shouldn't this be rolled into the apathy thread?
  13. WTF!!!!! Oh, "apathy"... I thought it said "antipathy".
  14. Agree... the fact that he has not put his name on the dotted line yet, I suppose leaves it open for the possibility some other club could come along with a better offer, and that the "sources" who claim he is ready to sign, may well be the Collingwood FC themselves, attempting to scare off potential sutors.
  15. Yeah, I realised after I posted but couldn't be bothered changing my post :-)
  16. But when he's in form he's a great player.. hence my condition re keeping his mouth shut.
  17. You mean the John Hopoate "date" rape technique (patent pending)?
  18. Yes... in a $1.1mil deal!! That leaves Ben Reid, Sharrod Wellingham, Harry O'Brien and Tyson Goldsack who haven't yet re-signed. If it were somehow possible, I wouldn't mind the club going for any two of Boak, Cloak and O'Brien (I know, that last one will get a lot of laughs, but I see plenty of upside in Harry if he can keep his mouth shut).
  19. I'm tweeting David Lynch with a recommendation he visit this thread... it may be just what he needs to inspire a recovery from his current stagnation.
  20. I would probably say something along the lines of: "You must have been very glad to have been surrounded by a group of extremely fit team mates." - seriously, as much as we all love and remember the guy fondly, I am finding this "Jimmy" defence very tiresome when it comes to arguing points on this board. The fact of the matter is that without something approaching elite fitness, you will NOT succeed in the modern game of Australian Rules Football... plain and simple. When Jim was playing, the sport was far less professional and there was a lot more latitude when it came to carrying players that were carrying injuries. So, in answer to your question, I would respond with an emphatic "NO"!!... you do not know what you are talking about.
  21. You created this thread/poll, the results conclusively show that almost 4 -1 are against the idea, so why not bow to popular opinion and concede - why put up a poll in the first place if you refuse to accept the result?
  22. Sorry, C&B... hadn't realised I was laughing.
  23. You're the person I hear complaining at the fast food counter because your burger has taken longer than two minutes, yes?
  24. Are you (and others) still insisting that the MFC didn't have any tests/examinations made of Scully's knee? Are you saying he told the club something along the lines of: "Look, I've got a bit of a chronic knee thingy going on here, so you better give me a rest" and the MFC responded, "No problem Tommy boy... you're our #1 pick, so as far as we're concerned, despite all of the conjecture about your staying or going, your word is good enough for us"? Sorry, but for me, that just doesn't add up. Sure, we should be bitter with regards to how and why he left, but to invent scenarios and to suddenly (not necessarily in your case WYL) brand him as an absolute dud, when the same posters would likely be praising his potential if he had remained a Dee, is laughable.
