The Duke Ellington ref might be more appropriate if he was a cricketer, particularly if he was a swing bowler.

Yes, he adopted that nickname because wasnāt keen on āMarionā.

But what about John Wayne, the Duke of Earl, or Duke Ellington?

So I should just make the post as a normal post, and ask a moderator if they could pin it, assuming of course they think it is pin worthy? Could I save time by asking you now if it is indeed pin worthy or that Iām wasting my timeš

Excellent work WCW⦠thanks so much. Now all I need to do is figure out how I can āpinā a post on the Forum board, @Demonland?

Crowd numbers - my perspective
Do people still use Twitter or X or whatever it is called? From memory, itās just an online [censored] fight.

Thanks so much WCW, thatās a great list. However, Iād like to have a list of ALL nicknames regardless of whether we should know them well or not, as itās a record thatās a more informal view of our playing list (and future playing lists)⦠it doesnāt need to be for just this season, it can be an ongoing record⦠indefinitely. Can I create a post from this and pin it to the top of the forum, or do I need to somehow get permission from Demonland or other moderator?

Haha!! Iāll leave that up to our cheer squad resident WCW who seems to be across such things. @WalkingCivilWar š

Iād say a post containing such a list could be pinned at the top of the forum, and that list could be updated as new nicknames are discovered (or invented) or as new recruits join the club.

Jesse Hogan
Not so much the penny dropping, but more the fact that he has a midfield that knows how to deliver the ball. His belief in himself has skyrocketed and it shows!!

CASEY: Practice Match vs Coburg
Is there any chance we can get oppo goals as well so we can get an idea as to how the game itself is going? Thanks yo all, regardless!

CASEY: Practice Match vs Coburg
Is there anywhere one can listen to (or view), this game?

"We want to be like Collingwood"
As much as I dislike the Pies as a traditional enemy (I was around for that golden era into the mid 60ās), I really do not like these generalisations about their supporter base. Are we all up at the snow during the season? Are we all sitting in the stands with our plate of cold cuts, the best brie/camambert and a glass of cab-sav? Iāve seen plenty of bogans in the red and blue that would give the worst Collingwood supporters a good run for their money. Iād love to see our supporters getting more vocal at games, although I think the problem lies in getting the numbers of supporters up⦠individually our supporters are probably doing their part, but Collingwood supporters sound louder because they are out in force attending the games.

Good news week (positive news only)
Iām not sure⦠what do they say? 𤣠EDIT: haha, I missed the post after the one Iām responding to. I never had that problem fortunately as I was very careful about where I ate. I actually put on weight while I was there! But I do know many people whoād attest to the truth in those words.

Good news week (positive news only)
I was there a long time ago (early 1989 I think it was), so Iām not sure whether there were using modern conveniences at that time (were they even available to those motorcycles produced in the west, back then?). But yes, youād see them everywhere loaded to the hilt with both produce and human cargo.

Yes, he does tend to do it as well (Iād rate them almost even in that department š)⦠itās frustrating.
-
Good news week (positive news only)
He still gets me worried when he tries to take on too much rather than attempt to hand off the ball when he has the opportunity.

Is it the Indian Enfield? Saw a lot of those on the roads in India⦠magnificent!!

2024 Injury List
That is one of the better footy photos I have ever seen. Sometimes you donāt need spectacular marks or big hits being caught at just the right moment, to show what this game of AFL is about. A photo that captures not just the moment, but captures the emotion of that moment, can be far more effective. The look of concern in Mayās eyes sent a shiver up and down my spine and almost brought a tear to my eye. Itās the photographic equivalent to a medieval painting by the likes of Michelangelo. Itās a rare gem! (settle down Tim, settle down!)

Yeah, Iām pretty sure it was a bloke who did my family tree⦠and he did a pretty good job. On footy though, Iāve wondered whether it would be worthwhile having a successful backline player coaching the forwards.

Is it Laurieās fault that he gets selected? If you were in his position, would you be putting your hand up and saying āoh no, I canāt play, Iām not good enoughā? Perhaps heās not up to AFL standard, but thereās really only be way to find that out for sure, and thatās by playing him at AFL level. Last year he showed signs, but this year he hasnāt delivered on them. I find your line āHe deserves nothingā to be particularly abhorrent! He is trying his hardest and that appears not to be quite enough, but it is hardly his fault. Itās almost like youāre accusing Laurie of letting the club down.
