Saturday Talking Point: Game Day 27/2/16
hardtack replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm just curious as to what the Toump did that he deserves to be sledged? Fair enough if he walked out for big money when he was a big contributor, but did he and was he? Give the guy a break, I say. -
I think they did... one of the sources listed is the Sydney Morning Herald, but that is now a dead link.

I read an AFL.com report that said Spencil had rolled his ankle and that it didn't appear to be serious as he was walking with barely a limp after the game. -
the soft attitude that constantly pervades & infects our players & recruits from within, & turns them into nice business types, but removes they're animal instincts which they need to be warriors of the footy field. it turns young supermen into Clark Kents & Jimmy Olsens.

He's just feeling a little negative today, that's all.

Drone; even worse, a drone suffering from narcissistic personality disorder. Oh, and if straw clutching was an olympic sport, you would be a gold medalist... I simply refuted your claim. Nice to see you dodge the other part of my post: "Oh, and I'd love to see where you get your "trillions" of dollars spent on climate change figure from."
-
Yes, but there are those who refuse to accept such diagnosis... am I right on that count ENYAW?

I'd like you to report to all of the signatories to the new agreement... they obviously need your expertise and insight (once they come to terms with your arrogance of course). The UoCS comprises experts in the area of global science and it is their belief that the sun has had nothing to do with the continued warming over the past 6 decades... good enough for me.
-
"...although fluctuations in the amount of solar energy reaching our atmosphere do influence our climate, the global warming trend of the past six decades cannot be attributed to changes in the sun" Caption for the image: "Heat-trapping emissions (greenhouse gases) far outweigh the effects of other drivers acting on Earth’s climate. I missed that concert... I went to the first Sunbury in January 1972... interesting sums it up best, I think. Some great music, but lots of drunk yobbos beating the crap out of each other and lots of stoners who didn't seem to know where they were.
-
Certainly a far cry from Sunbury where they were all but run out of town :-)

Glen Frey ( The Eagle that soared so high)
hardtack replied to picket fence's topic in General Discussion
The first three lines in the original post read: "As much as David Bowie's loss was very sad, I think Glen Freys contribution to MOR was sensational! A great musician in his own right he formed with the Eagles that West coast sound which has become iconoclastic to the style of the sensational seventies! The music still is fresh alive and vibrant today as then." The topic started off belittling Bowie's contribution to music as compared to Frey's and then went on to discuss the music of the Eagles. Those three lines invited the discussion the followed regarding the value of The Eagles' music. Yes, his death was a sad thing, but as WYL said, we all die... the only difference is that we non-celebrities will go unnoticed in our passing, except by those to whom we are closest (as it should be). -
How about you head off and work as a volunteer in some of these poverty stricken areas... perhaps you might like to look into why they are poverty stricken while you are at it; you might find that it has quite a bit to do with, among other things, environmental degradation. And this is just a wild guess, but I get the feeling that by the way you seem to have a death grip on your finances, I somehow doubt you are contributing much in assistance to these poverty stricken you care so much about.

Yes, there was great music produced throughout the 70's, but following on from the consistently brilliant music produced in the 60's, the 70's was always going to be somewhat "boring".
