  1. Sorry Picket, but The Eagles epitomised almost everything I hated about 70's music which never got interesting until the last 3 years of the decade... the decade that was the 70's I like to think of as music's "beige period".
  2. To my mind, Murder Ballads is one of the greatest albums recorded... however, I'm afraid Queen have never done it for me... in fact, I would go so far as to say their supposed masterpiece Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the most pompous pieces of crap ever committed to vinyl/CD.
  3. And as I mentioned earlier, the drummer from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Dallas Taylor died the same day as Frey. Speaking of Mott the Hoople, the guitarist in the band I moved to Sydney to become a part of, was the first cousin of their guitarist Mick Ralphs... he was better known for his work in Bad Company. I loved Mott the Hoople.
  4. Was never a fan of The Eagles, but sad none-the-less... another to pass on today was Dallas Taylor, the drummer for Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young who died of unknown causes aged 66.
  5. Loved this Ted Richards (Swans) tweet:
  6. I think I heard it mentioned in one of the documentaries or remembrances, that he spent a period of almost 10 years living on and off in Australia... he had an apartment in Sydney's Elizabeth Bay. It was funny hearing the director of Let's Dance talking about the filming in the outback pub... he said that while the people at the bar all appear to be happy and enjoying themselves, apparently they all hated Bowie and the crew and didn't hold back in letting them know what they thought of them.
  7. Speaking of which, whatever happened with regards to that? Being in Sydney we don't hear too much at the best of times.
  8. Same... I saw him at the MCG in pouring rain in 1978.
  9. So you could view them ok? I was a bit worried that maybe Facebook would somehow manage to interfere.
  10. ... these are on Facebook, so I'm not sure how successfully people will be able to view these slightly non standard shots. For those who are able to view them, I hope you can enjoy. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.939854492716501.1073741881.100000758763064&type=1&l=dd201a5e5c
  11. No no, you've got it all wrong Jara... weather is what we experience each day as we walk outside and is something that we all love to use as a nice conversation starter. Climate however, is something that affects certain people who have a disposition to issues with their hip-pocket nerve.
  12. I addressed the fact that the rest of the world has chosen to commit to an outcome at the Paris talks. Perhaps you might like to explain why they are all wrong and you are right? Do you have access to more reliable data than they do? Oh, and I would say that your response to my sarcasm was probably showing far more heat than I have managed to generate.
  13. And we lose yet another legend of the Australian music scene...sad news indeed http://www.noise11.com/news/music-news-r-i-p-easybeats-legend-stevie-wright-1947-2015-20151227

  15. What does DAMM stand for?
  16. Definitely true... I went from on iPhone 5 to an iPhone 6 and the battery life is now so much better. If you like the Apples interface and OS and battery life is the deciding factor to you wanting to change, then I would definitely upgrade to an iPhone 6 if I were you, radar.
  17. Thanks mate... looking good so far and he's out of the brace after tomorrow... all tracking well for him to be up and playing by around May.
  18. Fortunately I'm driving down this time, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
  19. They would want to have improved their service a hell of a lot from when I last used them... three of four flights from Sydney to LA via Guangzhou were delayed by a minimum of 2 hrs and a maximum of 12 hours. To top it off, when questioned at the gate in Guangzhou re when we would be boarding, the staff literally ran off and left the entire waiting area of people to fend for themselves at 10pm (the flight as it turned out, was canceled and we weren't officially advised). After that experience and the way their Customer Service treated us after I followed it up on our return, I would never use them again under any circumstances.
  20. When I called to ask (because I'm taking my son down to catch a couple of sessions in the first week), I was told that they return on the 4th January... so I'm assuming (well, I'm hoping) the first "open" sessions will be Monday the 4th and Friday 8th January.
  21. None so blind eh? But of course all of those world leaders and their advisors were obviously sucked in by those same journos, while you haven't swallowed the line of the other side (Bolt) at all. If only they had listened to you, what could have been... Anyway, coming from you, I will carry the "no hope" line as a badge of honour. Merci beaucoup!
  22. And the message is that climate change is of enough concern globally that all countries have signed off on measures to combat it - I believed dispassionate journalists also cheered when man landed on the moon... how dare they become emotionally invested in such affairs.
  23. He's fine... brace comes off next Wednesday... then it's just time that takes over - 6 more weeks and he can start jogging and two or three months after that he can resume full sport.
