What is the story with Salem? Nothing on the MFC website about his injury. Anyone know more?

I remember some TV interview of the captain a Victorian country team that had just lost their 72nd game in a row. The captain said something like "Yeah, we have been a bit off lately but don't worry mate we will see how we go in the finals!" The interviewer exclaimed, "Finals? How could you be in the finals with that record?" The skipper replied, " We'll be there mate there are only four teams in our comp. We ALWAYS make the finals!" Maybe we could have a FINAL 18 in the AFL and we could follow suit?

Jeff Farmer hit the post from a free kick 10 metres out directly in front. Strange things happen. There is a footy God.

Sorry to hear about your foot Jane. Old age stopped my running career but I have found a great substitute in cycling( leisurely pace of course). Give it a go if you already haven't done so. Go Demons!!
-
It was a charge. You must turn your back on your opponent in that situation. Jack made the spoil but he was face on which made it illegal. That's the ruling.

Seeing Blease running with two bounces towards the goal did remind me so much of the great Bluey Adams. He should be persevered with for the rest of the season. We need more speed and Sam certainly has it. Considering he broke his leg it's a wonder he didn't lose some of his natural speed.

Tough call on Bail I reckon. He was great today.
-
Jack had a brilliant third quarter BUT why can't he spread his abilities over a whole game? Does he need to work on his endurance or what? Does his engine let him down at times? Imagine how we would have gone with just two quarters of that quality football. Not to mention even three.

Sorry for being ignorant on this one but why did we wear that strip against the Cats? What is wrong with our traditional jumper?

One can only live in hope old dee.

The worry is that Jack makes many good leads to position but gets ignored most of the time. This is folly since when the ball is in Jack's hands we know something good will happen. Cameron Bruce was criticised by many on this forum as being 'soft' and with poor disposal. I certainly was not one of these. Imagine if Jack could win the ball as often as Bruce did ( averaged 26 possies a week) how the team would lift. 26 Watts disposals each week would be great and wouldn't that scoreboard start to tick over.

Reckon you could have included McDonald and Vince here.

I have looked at the replay too and Bail could have made it a little less obvious by twisting and turning to avoid the tackle and then taking it over the goal line. He did appear to run the ball over the line very deliberately. He just headed for it in a straight line. Deserved to be pinged IMO.

Great news! Hope he can manage a couple of games before season's end.
-
He certainly has earned another chance. Can someone change the title of this topic to JORDIE McKenzie because that is the man's name! Jordie by the way is a Scottish name meaning 'earth worker' which is very appropriate for Jordie's style of play. Nothing fancy but plenty of endeavour and hard work.

Have a look at his lighting fast hand pass to Jack watts who relayed onto Kent for the 3 bounce goal. He has got good hands.
-
Tagged well and showed he has quick hands as in the handpass to Watts to Kent for that 3 bounce goal. Also played a crucial part in that marvellous chain of handballs ending up with the winning goal. Not a great kick but really knows how to tag. Ask Gary Ablett last year! Kept Stanton very quiet. We must persevere with Jordie. No, he is not a relative!

Who are the best six kicks in our mighty team?

He was a champion wingman of our premiership teams of the 50's. He won the ball a lot and then just bombed the ball forwards with high, floating mongrel punts. It was Ok in these times as it was man on man all the time. -

Objectionable Essendon Supporters
Bobby McKenzie replied to picket fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
And some of their players follow suit. Have a look at the Essendon players shaking hands with Dunny. Really bad sportsmanship. -

Bobby McKenzie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have just watched the replay. Again! At the end of the game Lynden Dunn went and shook hands with some Essendon players. What bad sports they were. The first looked at Dunny with a stoney face. No 'well played mate' etc. from this Bomber. The other two didn't even look at Lynden when they shook hands. Poor losers indeed. -
