Brock has put in some really good games with the Blues. Putting him on the rookie list is not so silly as some think. Adds experience and depth.

I agree entirely with you. The guy is super fit and the real pro. 2 years more at least.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
Bobby McKenzie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Petracca with his Italian background joins a few others with Italian flavour. Some were not too bad on the footy field like Ron Barassi, Guy Rigoni and Andrew Leoncelli. There were also lesser lights like Wayne Delmenico and Frank Giampaolo. Also, we now have two Christians playing for the DEMONS which may help our cause. -
Likewise, I feel for young Abbott. It was a shocking mishap and we all feel for the Hughes family and the cricketing world in general. Mitch Johnson should take heed. His body line bowling could lead to another tragedy if he persists with it.

Very interesting reading indeed. Cameron Bruce and Russell Robertson were great draft picks at #64 and #68. Let's hope our 2014 TBC's turn out to be just what we need!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Bobby McKenzie replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
Actually we do have the ball quite OFTEN, it's just what we do with it when we get it. We can win it all right but ... -
I guess it is better than going to the dogs Jack!

Probably not what we need BUT some club is going to get a very good pickup. He looks sharp.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
Bobby McKenzie replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
That is right Round 22 V Collingwood. Sam picked up just 11 disposals but brother Jack could manage only four! -
Serious question HH Have you played footy at the highest level? If not, what right have you to criticise those who have? Support your team mate! Get behind the players not bash them.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST

Not to mention Lachie Neale 58, Luke Dahlhaus 70, Michael Walters 53, Rhys Stanley 47, Allen Christiansen 40 and Sam Reid 38. -
Common sense prevails! Anyone with a tiny amount of football knowledge would not want Jack playing AGAINST us. I wonder how much footy his detractors have played and at what level? His skills are sublime and he is improving the defensive side of his game. Think of the telling mark in defence when the Bulldogs were within a few points in the last seconds of play last season. Who was in the thick of it in the pack when the Bombers were in attack in the last 20 seconds of this years win?

Nothing about it it except rumours. Unfounded of course. Won't happen.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
Bobby McKenzie replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bump deserved. Must get new glasses. I couldn't find any mention of him. Sorry folks for starting up 'new' topic. I loved the highlights though of Garlett particularly his tackling. Very Davey like. Now where is my wheelchair and hot water bottle? -
Nik Nat is not worth Robbie's bootlaces. He has not got any of Robbie's qualities. Different as chalk and cheese.

RIP Robbie Flower - Sad Passing of a True Champion
Bobby McKenzie replied to KLV's topic in Melbourne Demons
Shocked and so saddened by this tragic news. As a PE teacher at Cheltenham High, I had the the opportunity of seeing Robbie representing Murrumbeena High in action in a footy match against my boys. Let me quote an extract from my book written in 2000. ' As coach, I told my charges that to win they had to stop the skinny, bespectacled kid at centre half forward. He was amazing. He was taking strong marks overhead and his ground play was nothing short of uncanny. He kicked six goals and earned many kicks and handballs. I tried five different players on him all to no avail. "He's too quick sir! I even tried to iron him out but he dodged me easily." commented my so called 'strong man'. It was this boy with his six goals that was the difference between the teams and we lost by eighteen points. I couldn't help admire his skills and I spoke to him as he was leaving the field. "Well played son! I reckon you'll play league one day. What's your name? I asked. He looked a little embarrassed and answered quietly, 'Robert Flower'. Yes, it was THE Robert Flower who was, in a couple of years, to delight football fans all over Australia with his fairness, courage and deft skills. Despite his fail body and his contact lenses, he managed to play 272 games with the Melbourne Football Club and played for Victoria fifteen times.' What a champion he was. Many of WA friends have told me that one of the main reasons for going to an Interstate game against Victoria was to see the great Robbie Flower in action. Vale, Robbie the brave. You along with Ron Barassi were my MFC legends. My sincere condolences to the Flower family.- 385 replies

Luke Hodge and the super draft 2001 (not for us sadly)
Bobby McKenzie replied to Bobby McKenzie's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm just saying in this draft with foresight we could have nabbed these particular players. -

Jacques Merde? Brownlow votes? -
Gee, what a big time player is this guy. As number one draft pick in 2001 he has proved to be an outstanding success story with two Norm Smith medals to his name. But what a super year it was for draft picks with Luke ball at #2 and Chris Judd at #3. I then looked at our choices. #9 Luke Molan who did not play one game although he was devastated by injury upon injury. Would you believe we could have had Nick del Santo who went to the Saints at #13.Also available when we chose Molan was Steve Johnson at # 24. Our next choice was Steven Armstrong at #25. Steven was serviceable but only managed 43 games with us. Then at pick #26 we chose Aaron Rogers who like Molan did not represent us once. Two of our first 3 picks did not get even one game for the Dees. How good is that for choosing talent? Of course, after we chose Rogers there was a guy called Sam Mitchell taken at #36. Imagine Mitchell,Johnson and Dal Santo in our line up for past 12 seasons. But is it luck in making these choices or not? Look at these names taken AFTER our picks in this year: #44 F/S GARY ABLETT jnr, # 58 Dane Swan # 71 Brian Lake. F/S is father son by the way for you naughty people who may have thought it was something else!
