  2. Partly to give a young player a rest. He does provide dash but I think it gets blown a little out of proportion when he's getting 5 or 6 kicks a game. He's also far from reliable in hitting targets. I'm in no rush to see him playing seniors every week but not overly fussed.
  3. Port lost the hitouts this weekend by 71-15 yet only lost the clearances 45-36 and got within 8 points. If Spencer was more mobile or multi-faceted then maybe but it would pretty much just be robbing us of another running player. Dawes or Pedo could potentially come in to provide a chop out as long as they don't make things too crowded inside 50 and provide some movement. Jetta and Tyson clear ins. Michie and Hunt make way. Frost in for O Mac. Salem another week in the seconds to build form and confidence. If not then someone will be unlucky to make way. Newton perhaps.
  4. I remember two bad turnovers today. They were ugly admittedly and stuck out, but I thought he was quite clearly in the top five players on the ground. His aggression is a massive and important feature. He was in everything. Some players get burned more for their turnovers than others. Vince never gets burned. Bugg always does.
  5. What's sad is that when that happens, the sympathy for the injured player will be less than it should be.
  6. Could it be any more blatant the way he raises his arm? Almost a McLean carbon copy. The AFL needs to do something now. For a first game player to be doing this is absurd.
  7. Brisbane's skills today were nothing short of heinous. Kicked themselves out of countless chances they created with their effort and contested work, Will take the four points and percentage boost though. At least it felt like a win this time as opposed to the same fixture last year. Stretch on reflection was the biggest positive to come out of today. Bugg slightly edged him as the one who set the tone in the first half but it's splitting hairs. They both were excellent. Midfield is coming together nicely. Agree on Garland. I didn't think it was quite a four quarter performance but his last quarter was Garlo at his best. ANB is a very neat player. He'll become a mainstay.
  8. 6. Hogan 5. Bugg 4. Stretch 3. Watts 2. Jones 1. Garlett HM: ANB with 18 touches but alot of them were an important part of the chain. Didn't look out of place at all today.
  9. You bewty! No ANB. No worries.
  10. I'm also tracking via the comments mate.
  11. Frosty the backman.
  12. Petrie and Goldstein are the only players at North I can think of that I don't mind. Harvey, Thomas, Thompson, Waite, Brad Scott. Absolute [censored] central that club.
  13. Oh. Mm. Yeah well, I still hate them.
  14. Agreed on both counts. Has the look of a list clogger.
  15. Seven's promo for the game: "In Queensland, the Lions play the Demons at 1" Made to sound extra stupid being read out by Basil Zemplas. Who checks these things before they go to air? A monkey? A monkey on the sauce? How do you get where the game is being [censored] played wrong?
  16. Both teams essentially parking the bus in that first quarter. Opening up a bit now.
  17. If this game is any indication then I'd be passing on Jones Junior.
  18. Garland v Dunn is the latest circular debate assuming the mantle previously occupied by Dawes v Pedo. Neither are stars but if Roos is true to his word on one poor game being enough to see you out of the side and form in the seconds being rewarded, Garland is pretty lucky to escape the chop this week, and conversely, Dunn could consider himself unlucky. i don't abide by a theory that Dunn can't play in a zone setup. I think sometimes we pay players too little credit. There must be more to it that we don't necessarily know.
  19. Well, Dunn is on the outer for certain. I don't get it. He seems to have been crucified for a game where no-one played well and has since put together two dominant VFL performances. Hunt, Harmes and Wagner certainly can't complain about not being given ample opportunity. You'd be happy getting picked this week. If it pans out as expected with a comfortable win, you're pretty much locked in for next week. The question now is who takes Pedo's role? T Mac I guess. O Mac and Garland commanding the backline. Interesting.
  20. Judging by Roos' presser, Kent will play along with ANB. Very happy for Dunny. Hopefully he plays well.
  21. King on 360 highlighted the number of throws by the Bulldogs on the weekend. A week too late but at least it's now been talked about.
  22. Isn't this a bit of a chicken and egg scenario though, in that we are a high ranking aide in centre clearances partly as a result of this tactic of half backs pushing up towards the centre in order to create the 9 v 7? I'm not disparaging the Demon Diamond. The name alone has me sold But this season we have looked as exposed on turnovers as I can recall. The ease with which a developing side like the Saints were able to tear us up does make me a little nervous. I would hope and expect that not all the eggs are being placed in the one basket, although the absence of a Plan B has also been unnerving.
  23. Good thread bb. Can I put in an early request that if someone disagrees with a player's name mentioned for trading/delisting, it is not responded to with snide remarks, losing one's bottle, personal insults, or anything that leads to a thread derail. A simple counterargument will suffice. Cheers.
  24. I personally would've thought so. The issue is who n the midfield does he replace? We have elite youngsters who need game time, and the leftovers are Vince, Jones and Viney. I'd almost be inclined to send Jones to halfback for a quarter or two and let Newton have a proper run through the middle. Don't bring him in just to play as a goal sneak. It isn't doing him any justice. It seems unlikely as they are blooding them in specific roles at Casey such as Grimss being shuffled around.
