Ok, we have taken the mickey out of the prayer room Yet the AFL is considering playing on "Good Friday" probably atm most ppl are against. Times will change,as they do, but go figure
-
Its O.O.O I've spent more time in there, than actually watching the footy of late. 1: The contrete is too thick, my prayers havent been getting through 2: its underground, I asked for one to be on top of the Ponsford,so I could do my Moses impersonation 3: No compass provided or gps, I lost my bearings, and didnt know where east or west was. 4: no sacrifice alter provided to burn medallions etc 5: couldnt find an ashtray or bins for the empty cans Bascially needs some work. What about a naughty room ?? Confessional box?

DL7 explained how it is done....... You need Adobe Flash to activate this function 1: go into your team page... where you make your selections for your weekly team 2: up near the top of the page (far right ,sub heading) you will see "Edit Team Info" .... click that 3: You should see all the jumper designs - select 1 (DESIGN) Hope that helps

Let's do something to help Eddie and Collingwood
DeeVoted replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I suggest we extend the agreement, for a few more years,to let them play us on the Queens Birthday weekend. Just for a bit of added moral support, we let them believe the G is their home ground. When they fail to measure up, we ship them off to NZ,with our good wishes. -
I was throwing out some more bait, re Hams, but didnt get a bite
-
There wasnt much in it, You losing Hille early didnt help your cause. The way it looking atm, expect some heart stoppers throughout the year. I could use a quality, reliable goal kicker ... all offers if any ? will be considered. There isnt much to choose from, if someone has one, its unlikely they will trade, but you never know.

Got BBQ'd Last week by watts cook n Now on a roll, undefeated since round one Dappa, surprised my offer for Hams got a knock back, thought Dal Santo would have got the job done Those projected game odds leave a bit to be desired

Leigh Matthews does not rate Mitch as forward
DeeVoted replied to deemad's topic in Melbourne Demons
Leigh Matthews just wanted to get a mention on d'land.... dont get sucked in. The best way to answer that comment is for Mitch Clark to prove him wrong. IF we continue to deliver the ball into the forward line as we did in round 1, Peter Hudson would have struggled to get a kick. Clarkes' 1st game in a new team, that still looks like it hasnt got its head around structures, and had players down on form.Matthews may yet have to eat those words. -
I have watched a lot of MFC and local games of footy and played the game.I sat through the 70's watched us get flogged and NEVER left before the final siren went. Today...... today broke new ground. I left when the siren went to end the 3rd quarter. Just disgusted and what hurt most was there isnt any sign its going to get better. Neeld better prove me wrong, but I always thought the best way home is straight down the guts,or at least clear it along the boundary from the backline, until you hit the middle, then straighten it up. get it quickly and directly. I cant see that working for us anyway there isnt anyone capable in the forward line or anywhere else for that matter,Just the odd glimpse, then nothing.

You read it correctly. But before 'we' start punching holes in the concept, it needs to be discussed and thoroughly thought through. The 1st question to be asked is... is is a good idea to give the bottom 2-6 teams more hope for the next season, I thought it was, thats why I wanted to get the ball rolling. Until this season is nearing an end, we wont know how far off the pace the 12th placed team is, maybe they dont need much help, Might be just the bottom 2 teams that we help more. Maybe the keeper min could be 6 for each coach. Either way, I thought with the draft now setup the way it is, its so everyone gets to taste some finals, If the same ones finish down at the wrong end most times, they will lose interest. If whatever is decided ie last 4 teams, get a pre-draft, then they are last pick in the 1st round. So then it works they get 2 1st round picks,at some stage they will have to forfeit a round pick, because they have 1 more player than anyone else. Therefore, they could be ommitted from the 2nd round draft. That in effect, gives them an extra gun player, but they miss out of a medium player, if you follow? Whatever way it works, its to keep everyone interested in playing, Some may drop out for other reasons, but its hard to keep going when down at the wrong end of the ladder. It can work, just needs to be worked through, and decided what would work best. We have all year to come up with a concept that is suitable.
-
The 1st game in anger all but a mere few hours away, This might be a good option to consider for next year a PRE DRAFT : after all the coaches have chosen their "keeper" players and discarded the rest the bottom six teams have a free hit (draft) on the 'pool' of elite players cut from everyones team. Each get to choose 1 elite player. The bottom 6 teams only,so there isnt any tanking, the last 6 would be random. All done proir to the main draft, when they have all added their ONE elite player then we open up the main draft as per normal. So if you had a crap year, for whatever reason, you have something to offset it, a slight jump on the rest. Btw doesnt have to be the bottom 6, could be the bottom 4 teams that get the free 'hit".Effectively the bottom 6 teams would have 5 'keepers" And IF I dont finish bottom 6, (and have no intention of doing so) , plz ignore this suggestion lol Food for some thought?.

Melbourne and the Football World mourn Jimmy Stynes
DeeVoted replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I had a bit of time to kill and wondered how other supporters boards had felt ,the impact of Jim Stynes passing. I got a bit of a shock to be honest. Just goes to show, how much he was thought of, not just by us (Melb supporters). tributes came from nearly every corner of the world. But if any supporters from other clubs that happen to be passing thru demonland, and read this, and you paid your respects to Jim. on your supporter board, then I tip my hat to you all. You have done yourself proud, humanity lives. If you havent done so already, and can take getting a bit teary all over again, I suggest you troll thru Bomber Blitz and Punt Road End as only 2 examples. It might be gloves off during the season and watching a game, but I was left in awe of the tributes posted by opposition supporters. -

There is so much that can be said and will be said about the great man. I can still recall the year he was shunted off to Prahan. I thought at that time, what are they doing,he hasnt had a chance to prove himself. Then later i read he was told to learn his footy, that was the reason. Little did I know, or anyone else for that matter, what a determined, young Irishman we had on our hands. In the 45 years he was on this earth,he has done more than any of us could only dream of doing in 3 lifetimes. RIP Jim Condolences to Sam. all his family and close friends.he is truly going to be greatly missed in all walks of life. -

RDB League is 1 team short and not sure who has dropped out.

Well what can I say.... the 'bot' didnt do a bad job selecting my players. Some I would have not chosen, and some I would have. All in all, happy enough with my lot, so as Dappa stated last year, auto-picks arent a bad way to go. I would have preferred to do it myself, I liked it last year, the pressure and taking a punt of a few unknowns, ie Heppell, what a gem he turned out to be last year. I have the 'boys' out on the track, we hope to improve from last years flop, Goddard, Montagna Didak Gilbee, all had shockers. New season, new team, let the games begin. I just dumped a rookie, and signed another player, if I remember correctly, last year I could do a straight drop 1 player sign another, and it was done, this time I have a waiver pending 2 days for approval. Did I do it wrong, or something changed, or am I suffering from memory fade?? Well done Jack, good luck to the other teams for the year, nearly 12 hrs has passed, and I have yet to be bombarded from HT, requesting trades lol I am sure that will come sooner than later

In the same boat here My idle time just had a horrible horrible thought with auto picks.... $c....
-
Not Happy Jan ... Looks like I am going to have to rely on auto picks, takes away the fun of it.

Congrats JA and mum. I'm tripping he'll be on the trade table mid yr. After many sleepless nights, I'm sure uncle Dan will make a decent offer.

Training - Friday 3rd February, 2012
DeeVoted replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I trekked out to Casey this morning; my first chance to see training for a long time. As previous reports have stated, there is a huge change in the training techniques. Training is now, way more structured and with a purpose, whereas in previous years’ training drills, it was all a bit ho-hum. Not any more, now that I’ve seen it with my own eyes, nobody out there can get away with making mistakes. All eyes seem to be focused and they pull up the offender and the mistake is made known to the player, and the whole group knows about it. One example was in a simulated game, on a kick out from a behind being scored. The game was halted, everyone told to hold where they stood and then they did a player check to see who was on who, and they singled out who should be elsewhere and manned up. Some players got caught out, for NOT being in a position to block, or man up. I can admit, it’s not very often I struggle identifying players, but did this morning it took me awhile to narrow down who I didn’t know. Training started out with a warm up lap and then some drills, lots of sprints and ball skills. In the rehab group from where I stood, there was Tappy, Pencil, Jurrah and a couple I didn’t know As far as I could tell, everyone on the list bar this group, were involved in around the ground kicking, running and handballing, It was very intense and probably lasted for 10 mins each time before they had a short break, split into groups and explanations and instructions were spoken about in each group, What they should do, and where to positions themselves that lasted for 5 mins, then it was started all over again, This went on for approx 30 mins In the simulated game standouts for me, were Jamar, Won nearly all the hit outs. Nicholson is going to be a gun, Martin did some nice work and Howe is going to be unstoppable in the air. He has a nice leap and a great grab in contests. Bennell seems to be the go-to-man down back all I kept hearing was JB go here go there. I am not about to go through all the players, but as a group, there was a lot of upside, but work in progress. i.e. on kick outs and ball ups. Teammates repeatedly were yelling to teammates where they should be positioned. To me this came across, some were still adapting to a new structure. In a real game they won’t have this luxury, so it might take awhile before it all becomes second nature to them. But at least they have a plan, Still some skill errors (unforced being made by some) Conditions were perfect, the real test will come under pressure and in a real game, but we are in good hands from what I saw. If anyone is wondering about fitness, this WONT be an issue this year, they were being flogged. All were just about out on their feet after running more sprints, after the game. James Sellar is one that needs to work on his stamina, he was slowing dropping off the pace in his group. One of the fitness guys was urging him to go harder, every lap he was falling further behind so the fitness gut had his elbow in his back and telling him to keep up next time around the same guy had his elbow in Sellars’ back, yelling him to keep up. Sellar returned fire, with "You are not F**king helping." Todd Viney laughed At the end, he was almost at a walk, but got encouragement from the same fitness guy, So there weren’t any hard feelings when it ended, but they are being flogged out there. Not one player looks out of trim, all are well defined in their own way I now know why Wona pulled the pin, he must have seen the writing on the wall, and he wouldn’t have lasted more than 30 mins out there!. That’s my view on training this morning, -
Rather than a long winded explaination,,, that does get complicating. Read their FAQ;s etc and you will get the idea .http://www.ultimatefooty.com.au/ For the moment the site is only excepting registrations of interest We await for JA to again organize the drafts / league etc.
