  1. As Frawley said, too many turnovers, not enough composure. If there was a stat on "handballs intercepted" we'd be down down down ...
  2. Long way to go, but at least we've beaten the slow start hoodoo. Missing the outs though, Grimes, Trengove and Jamar would have been useful! Not sure Dunn is a backman.
  3. Garland subbed off already? Dunn down back, Bennel on??
  4. Newton!!!! Our KPF arrives!
  5. My understanding is that iPads are tricky for streaming media. Have you tried accessing the audio feed through the AFL gameday site/page? On the other hand, you could also try Liveafl.tv - it's the AFL's live video stream for overseas fans. In theory, the site should pick up your (international) IP, and authorise access. You have to pay, but a few euros or drachmas or whatever to watch our beloved Dees is always well worth it, and you can take a short-term subscription if necessary. Good luck.
  6. FFS, Bennel was best at Casey, not just "reasonable". As for the "scared", it's just ridiculous. He's an outside player, sure, but puts in when he needs to. Really happy to see him there myself, if it all comes together he's Davey mark II for me.
  7. ... and Dangerfield listed for Crows ...
  8. Dangerfield named for Crows. Perhaps that helps ...
  9. He's done (very) well of late which is great to see, but I think you're stretching it a bit there. Gotch listed Bennel as our best last week, Bate the week before, and if you go back earlier, Evans gets a good wrap but not really anything more. Think for changes this week, we'll go for the obvious (e.g. Martin) and/or experience (e.g. Joel Mac). Still a bit of water to go under the bridge re Rivers, Martin and Trengove yet, fingers crossed. I would have thought Bennel and Jetta would be closer than Evans or Nicholson.
  10. Well, if you're going to quote Gotch, then quote him on Bennel as well: "Jamie was probably our best performer." You've (also) misrepresented Gotch re Morton. I don't quite see how "his attitude was very good and he’s a genuine class player" becomes "he still hasn't started to work on his 'Issues' ". Not saying either of them should be in the 22, but if you're going to put on rose-coloured glasses when you look at Evans - who, it must be remembered, hasn't even played a game yet - then put them on for all the players. Equally. Agree with the other posts re keeping an opening for Campbell - essential I would have thought.
  11. I think you're misreading what others have posted. If Rookies are ready, sure, but on current form, and reports from Casey, both Bennel and Jetta would be ahead of Evans (and Nicholson) as mids. (well ... if we can consider Bennel a mid). Pushing kids into the firsts before they're ready doesn't help anyone, and young players like Gysberts, Bennel, Jetta etc. also need as much AFL game-time as they can get. But when they've earned their place ... bring it on!
  12. If you get out of this with just a few ROFLAW's and LOL's, you'll have done well.
  13. A number of words beginning with "P" suggest themselves ... pretentious, precious, primadonna, patronising ... not to mention one that starts with "C". That would be "condescending", though there are others that spring to mind.
  14. Technically, I don't know that that's correct. My understanding is that the players voted for a group, a short list, and the actual captain was selected by the FD and board from that. Difficult to find someone to replace Junior. With the benefit of hindsight, his quiet worth on and off the field is perhaps becoming more appreciated.
  15. ... and three to be cut from that I/C, which means that there could still be an additional omission or two from last week's team. Fairly rugged response I would say, and it feels like they've singled out not so much under-performing players (there were a lot of those!), but players who they're simply expecting a lot more of down the line.
  16. The supporters? Demonland represents but a tiny percentage of Melbourne supporters. I know quite a few demons followers, including members, and not one visits (or vents on) this site.
  17. Very different situation - Lake had an injury and a reduced (or non-existant) pre-season. The only Dees who this might apply to would be Frawley or perhaps Morton (though Morton was only a finger, so presumably he was able to keep up his general fitness, if not his match fitness).
  18. Beg to disagree. Knowing how to do something is one thing. Knowing how to repeatedly do it under all circumstances and with consistency takes time. Otherwise known as experience.
  19. I was going to add "me neither", but on reflection, given some of what's been written over the last few days, it's hard to be surprised any more. Jonesy is good value, both on and off the field, and I'm another that enjoys his tweets. And just to add, some of what he's done, for example in opening himself up in writing about Auzzie's dad's funeral .... Respect.
  20. FFS people. If you don't like the way the player reviews are written, don't read them. This constant trashing of everything the club does by some here is just pointless and tiresome. The reviews are a good initiative, generate web-site traffic (the main aim I imagine), and are an interesting if fairly innocuous read. Praise in public, criticise in private.
  21. Sure, but it's a FD/club decision, not just DB's. The problems at the moment go right across the club. Sure, the buck stops with DB, but it doesn't mean that he's all alone in this. A few of the senior players taking responsibility wouldn't hurt.
  22. .. and they've lost Tambling it seems. Good for Tappy to get another crack. He was travelling well.
  23. Thank god someone said it! Quite how a player doing nothing better than "OK" at Casey is being touted at the second messiah is a bit beyond me. Even his own tweet after the Casey game said he was flat. Seems to me people are clutching at straws, looking for simple solutions. We didn't get walked on last week because Petterd wasn't in the team. The problem with "Fan Selections" this week, is that most of the team was subpar, so hard to pick out just one or two names from that train wreck. Not to mention, we need to weigh up who could actually come in and actually bring something that we're not getting at the moment. I don't see anyone running round at Casey who's better than Davey and/or Green. Bate, maybe Newton have surely earned a call-up. But not sure that Jetta for Bennel or Wonna is doing much more than rotating the deck chairs. I would have thought that Warnock or Joel Mac, both older and more experienced, might have a strong(er) case. Interesting to see how the selectors/FD react though. Do they slash and burn, or do they up the ante by making minimal changes and demanding that everyone steps up to the plate?
  24. Don't know that we'll need to wait till later in the year to be out of finals contention ... Interesting reports, almost seems that the Rookies are closer than the drafted/listed players, especially Evans and Nicholson. Good to see Howe starting to find the pace - could be a smokey selection for the next week or two - though not sure where he'd play. But also some good/interesting news overall, e.g. Fitzpatrick BOG in the reserves.
