  1. Yeah, that's what I thought when I read that Warnock wasn't playing. With three goals already it sounds like Newton might be playing another decent game, despite Casey getting pummelled.
  2. We'll see. Wasn't Brad Miller in the leadership group until he was delisted (aged 27)?!? PS. If you had suggested that despite being in the leadership group it's quite possible that Jones could get pushed out of the side as our younger mids improve, I think you would have been right. (You didn't, but thanks for reminding me of the Miller example).
  3. That sounds right to me; my recollection was either ~$200K or $300K.
  4. In a somewhat recent thread - prompted by Casey showing interest in Fev - this was discussed a bit. The financial burden, if media reports at time time were accurate, is less than I expected it to be.
  5. Yeah, that 'someone' who tweets is a brilliant footy expert and I always defer to their judgement when rating players.
  6. Okay, but how are we going to make the MCG, SCG, Etihad (and so forth) bigger? It's a lot harder than a stroke of the pen in the rule book, that's for sure.
  7. I reckon he tried a fluro green/yellow one at some stage.
  8. Anyone who thought we weren't going to have some bad losses this year has not had realistic expectations.
  9. If you're going to criticise an opposing view it's pretty helpful to at least understand that view. (For example, in outling the AFL argument for the sub rule the OP has made some assertions about why the AFL brought in the rule that don't fit with the reasons McKay has posted).
  10. If I'd posted the article without pointing out that McKay works for the AFL I would understanding your post, but since I deliberately provided that 'disclosure' I'm not quite sure what you're getting at. Care to extrapolate?
  11. Stynes could pass down his fluro cap for our subs to use. (I'm pretty sure he attempted to play with a cap for some sun protection; suffice to say the attempt wasn't successful, as opponents constantly knocked it off).
  12. Here's an opposing view from Andrew McKay, who now works for the AFL: http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/111081/default.aspx
  13. Agreed. If Gys finds some form and McKenzie and Scully come back into the side I reckon our midfield will 'suddenly' look a fair bit better.
  14. As if it's anything inherent to Melbourne; to support my assertion I'll point to all those who argue that Melbourne supporters accept mediocrity.
  15. If the OP holds a MFC country membership they've already been given the answer by peasant; the country membership is a general admission membership, so it's just like having a general admission ticket to the game. The OP's girlfriend purchases a general admission ticket and they sit in the general admission area at the MCG.
  16. I thought I read a training report that suggested Moloney punched Davis in the thyroid; just sayin'.
  17. I reckon there are so many players in front of Jetta when it comes to a 'big part of our future as a midfielder'. I think that if he makes it he'll have to play in the midfield at times, but I can't see him playing there in our primary rotation. One of the 'mistakes' is that he looked totally cooked after any sort of involvement in the play. Regardless of any other considerations, he looked completely unfit (in AFL-terms, anyway).

    Daniel Ward

Expensive stuff; pretty good that the AFLPA foot the bill.
  19. Hah, wow. I heard he dined with Malcolm Blight.
  20. Nice Nice work; if the source for RobbieF's assertion about Cook's character was that training report - and it seems that it was - it is very clear that Cook's distress had nothing whatsoever to do with a spat with Moloney. What did have Cook 'looking down' is anyone's guess; it could certainly have been some sort of injury/illness, given he was with the trainers and received some sort of medication.
