  1. I was going to reply to this post but you've said all I wanted to. If anyone actually has any information that suggests Hawthorn has put a ban on the pre-game pant-wearing I'd like to hear it.
  2. Cricket boards always sound like they're being managed terribly: http://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/windies-froze-me-out-says-emotional-gayle-20110421-1dq2v.html
  3. In previous years have we generally made guys head back to the VFL after a couple of weeks without playing? I thought that was the case. I mentioned it in another thread, but a bunch of media types have been critical of the decision and when West was pressed on it pre-game he gave a pretty nothing answer. I don't see that it was a good move.
  4. I think one of the things is that he releases other guys who can then be more damaging.
  5. I wouldn't have said we should delist Rivers, but I'm not convinced he's going to be in our best side when we're any good. He's been good so far but we'll see how he goes. I would. That doesn't say much though, because there aren't many players who are untouchable. It's more a matter of how much I'd need to trade him and I don't know that we'd get enough to move him on. That said, I'm not taking into account anything that's not on-field, so he might get brownie points for other stuff.
  6. Does 'A' refer to GWS' future leadership group? On a serious note, probably not top 6 / future leadership group, but you'd hope at least a few of them would be.
  7. I don't think DB is going down the path of playing Jamar as a forward, he'll just rest there. We should and were doing this before the sub rule, but the changed rule makes it even more important to get the rucks doing something other than sitting on the pine when they're not in the ruck.
  8. Arrested development is better.
  9. Let's hope we get more out of him than WCE and Wilson On a serious note, I think I probably take it for granted that he'll kick some goals and give me some moments worth turning up to the footy for, so it's good to be reminded he's played less than a seasons's worth of games.
  10. *4 games in. Knights inherited a better list in terms of mature players. Haha, respect for acknowledging that.
  11. I don't think he was given a spot on the list as a backup for Martin. It may be that Martin has gone past Newton as the second ruck option now. However, Newton was probably in front of Martin late last year, when the decision was made to offer him a spot on the list.
  12. What broadcasters want and talk of a fair fixture are pretty different. I can't see that the broadcasters are clamouring for a 1/3 reduction in teams/matches.
  13. Indeed. It was an extreme, just like some of the horrible losses were an extreme.
  14. Just when I thought Demonland couldn't get any stranger...
  15. I also don't know why people were confident we'd make finals. However, I think that even for those who are aiming for finals a tally of 2.5 wins from 4 games is within expectations. (I thought DemonWA summed it up pretty well). Despite not being one who thought we would make finals and I am disappointed in how we've played, regardless of your disbelief at this thought. Interesting comment. Mind sharing how you know this for a fact?
  16. I agree. Indeed; on at least two occassions he was going to come into the side but got injured in the week before.
  17. I'm in the same boat. I don't know what he'll be doing and for that reason I haven't asserted that he will or won't leave.
  18. Oh really? I didn't pick it up at all. My suggestion of posting that picture and locking all Scully threads because the image says it all was completely serious... First, I already addressed you the first time (refer here: ). Second, my comments weren't sarcastic. There was nothing bitter about them. Flippant? Sure. As for grown up discussion, the 'grown-ups' I know sometimes make quips or react in a flippant manner when others rely on flimsy evidence to bolster claims in order to make a point in a less dry and legalistic manner than they otherwise could. I fail to see how posting that there's evidence of Scully leaving because he hasn't been visible to supporters recently is substantially different to someone making a quip about body language being evidence he's leaving anyway. As I pointed out, there are a bunch of players we never see when they're not playing. There's even less incentive to prop Scully up in front of a media pack since they're all over the GWS angle, making for what I imagine would be an uncomfortable experience for the player and not poor PR for Melbourne. Furthermore, the suggestion that he wasn't sitting with X players during a game doesn't even seem to have much importance when others have seen Scully at the game.
  19. I agree, and it's a pretty prevalent view in footy media too. I heard West pressed on the issue and all he said was that they thought hard about it.
  20. Great observation - that's undeniable evidence he's leaving. I think that in all future Scully threads I might simply post that picture and lock the thread.
  21. Hopefully the ICC rethinks the World Cup format, bringing some associates into the fold.
  22. A vendetta? That's a bit strong. Anyhow, I don't think any of Garland, Riv or Frawley will play forward. There's the whole 'robbing Peter to pay Paul' issue, and the fact that I'm not sure any of them would be much chop as a full-time forward. Garland's perhaps the most likely, but I'm not sure he'd be playing a strong KPF type and I like him down back anyway.
