  1. White has been dropped from the side in the ODI series vs Bangladesh - Ferguson has replaced him.
  2. Hah; there's a poster who's been posting about this pretty consistently - ie. every second or third post - for the last couple of years.
  3. It's not used ocassionally, it's used most of the time. You've pointed out some (small number of) examples of when it works. Sadly, most of the time it leads to us having trouble on two counts. One, trouble moving the ball through the middle since we've made it so congested by pushing up. Two, trouble keeping the footywhen we do have it in the middle, because we look forward, have no one to kick it to, and turn it over. Off the top of my head, some examples of the latter: I think Sylvia might have bombed a ball forward to no one fairly early in the game, while Morton definitely kicked the ball forward to no one when he was on the southern side of the ground in the last, and Martin did it with more style when he kicked towards the City end, etc. There were also plenty of times per game where we simply handballed it around or kicked sideways because there was no one to kick to up the ground.
  4. Hah. (Just to pursue this point a little more, I'm not sure our forward structure would be much different with Hale, to be honest - we start our deepest forwards further out from goal than other teams, and whoever is there gets sucked up the ground).
  5. Not many people - no one? - is complaining about players having a few beers. It's all the beers after 'a few' that seems to be the issue. It's also the issue of still being out drinking all those beers ~5 (?) hours before a recovery session.
  6. On that note, I think part of the reason we have such low I50s is that so often we have no one to kick to in the 50, so we hold the ball up and lose it outside of 50. I think that if we played a man deep all the time we would have many more I50s.
  7. It sounds like Blease is a long way off, so there's one fly in your ointment. There are probably others who are in line to get a run in the middle (or increased time in there) before Tapscott, but I won't be surprised to see him in there at times.
  8. I think it's you who needs to re-read the thread carefully, since I never asserted that it was your belief that Jones was in the same league as the others.
  9. Context matters. A public bar isn't a urinal. NB: I'm not going to get into a philosophical debate about harm, but suffice to say that I disagree. Hah.
  10. When I read this I wished I couldn't. What exactly are you getting at?
  11. I get that it's a joke, but I reckon it's worth noting that there's a big difference between 'urinating in public', outside a nightclub, and urinating on a bar.
  12. I thought Hale was doing okay for Hawthorn.
  13. Nice. You seem to be suggesting you know a fair bit about Moloney's character; is that right? (Honest question, because I don't; I just watch the footy. I've seen him a couple of times at some Melb-related functions and that's it).
  14. I disagree. I don't think we would have kept him had he not showed the ability to compete in the ruck at VFL level last year.
  15. Regarding the last couple of posts, I think the kicking to Martin was often not to his advantage. Anyway, what I expect is a contest; nothing more.
  16. Thanks - I'll run any posts mentioning old tech past you for approval next time
  17. We didn't play well and we won. That seems to be an improvement from a couple of years back, when we could play alright - against average opponents - and still lose. That's the example I thought of. I noticed someone said they were flat after the win; so was I. I don't think I would have been flat after beating the Pies by a couple of goals.
  18. I don't have a problem with a small delay. The broadcasters pour a lot of money into the sport, and if they think they are best served by a small delay that's fair enough. It's not like they'll start the coverage by going live to the game as it is at 3PM - into the second quarter - like Chan 9 did with the World Cup.
  19. Probably as a second ruck option, but Martin's playing well enough in that role to hold his spot IMO. (I do think Newton could be picked as a forward, but I think we 'bothered putting him on the list' as a second ruck option).
