  1. You've presented a compelling argument - I'm sold! Exactly.
  2. Who had this hope? At what level were these midfield credentials? I've read that he was a forward when drafted. I think he got a run in the midfield versus Richmond. While Bell might have some attributes that are handy in a midfielder, one of his biggest weaknesses seems to be getting run down. This would probably be exacerbated if he was in the heavy traffic of the midfield. Having pace is a great asset for a Dees midfielder atm, but you need to be a quick decision-maker too. It's not impossible, but I think a forward role seems more likely.
  3. If he's not in Adelaide's future plans, why would he be in ours? He'll be retiring just as we start pushing for finals. Pointless to pick him up IMO, but it'll never happen anyhow - refer Bailey's comments re: youth policy.
  4. From memory, I read that Bell played junior footy as a forward.
  5. It's a business networking group - a way to make and develop contacts in the business world. The common theme is the Melbourne Football Club. Mates of Melbourne will also create a group of business people who are - in the most part - interested in the Dees, and there 'will be unique Mates of Melbourne projects for fans to be involved in, that will in turn help to develop and sustain MELBOURNEfc’s business'. Hope that makes sense. Sure - you'll need to manage your money well, so the superannuation seminar might be handy
  6. It's not just for business owners, but for those who are interested in business networking & helping MFC. It seems like a good initiative for business people and the Club. NB: It is surprising it hasn't been mentioned here - I'm pretty sure it was discussed on Demonology.
  7. I think renewals will be sent out in October.
  8. There was an investigation.
  9. Ahem - 'The relationship would have no financial commitment but would see Melbourne again become a section of the MCC'.
  10. Maybe you could make some
  11. Nice. What was the lunch?
  12. If we wear blue shorts, and Sydney wear white shorts, there won't be a clash.
  13. I'm pretty sure the cheer squad split into two after some debate about chants or something. There are a few threads on Demonology discussing it. That probably makes it seem even smaller. I'm in that boat - I'd prefer not to sit in the FP or whatever.
  14. I'd be fine with that. Haha :D That's probably the most astute comment you've ever made.
  15. I think I rate Corey Jones higher than some who have posted in this thread, but I don't think he's a fit for us.
  16. As soon as I heard the injury I wondered about the implications for his future, and a possible trade. His trade value would certainly be decreased, and with him likely to miss the entire 2009 (not 2010*) season that's a blow for Geelong, which are certainly in their flag contention window atm. *edit: hey, it was nearly 1AM
  17. Of course they would have. Just like Doncaster (1970s?) & Clayton/Rowville (1960s?).
  18. Were you the one counting the crowd at our NAB game? I would have guessed there were less than half the 6,000 you're suggesting. NB: Casey council reports that there were 6,000 there. Regardless, my point stands - the parking may have been fine with 6,000, but to be a viable ground for real footy you'll need to cater for many times that - far more than what could be catered with parking IMO. Double the cars would have been a nightmare, let alone 4-5 times more.
  19. Will it? Multiply the number of patrons that attended the NAB Cup game by 10 and I think there'd be some trouble
  20. I think Bruce Almighty understands your assertion - he simply stated that WCE will not be eligible for a #1 PP if they win eight or less games over the two years, as they've won more than four this year. My understanding is that you need to have won four or less games in two successive years, as Bruce Almight indicates. I think the Dees have won just eight games over two years, but don't receive a #1 PP as we haven't won four or less in both years (we won five last year).
  21. I don't think so.
  22. If teams are 'crippled into submission' because of a lack of PP pick, I'd suggest that it's merely the straw that breaks the camel's back.
  23. Indeed. I thought the debt was looking like 4.7M after this season (3M previously + 1.7M this year). If we've cut that to 1M, we'll only be around 1M in debt. I'd be happy enough to see the Club delist Carroll if they think it's warranted. For those complaining about the payout, we're going to pay his contract either way, and if reports are correct then we may as well pay it out now, and bring in a kid (for relatively insignificant expense).
