  1. Nothing new there, but good to see some acknowledgement of the issues I guess. I wouldn't call it a 'plan', though. It has some aspirations, sure. PS. It's poor form to paste entire articles into forums. If you want to make a point, provide the excerpt you're discussing, otherwise just provide the link.
  2. Y_M'll just bump his threads where he hailed Watts as the messiah PS. It doesn't matter if fans on here 'support' particular players You should have learned this with Miller.
  3. Garland said as much pre-season - forward/wingman.
  4. I love that a guy called Swift is in the top five...poetic justice.
  5. If it's just a paper gain - ie. a pick that we're never going to realise (use) - then it's not really 'something' for us, no. However, I'm not opposed to us looking after our players a la King. Cast your mind back a few years and we did a deal with Port for negligible benefit that gave Walsh a gig in his home state. The prospect of trading White for what's essentially nothing has been mentioned by others previously (including me). It seems unlikely this will happen though, as there seems to be little interest in White (and nothing for Yze).
  6. Ray Carroll on his son Nathan: "Watching Nathan play football is good for me, not that he listens to anything I say. "When they were growing up, I was more scared of him than Trent. He is more aggressive; Trent is quiet and mellow. "This one has a bit of s--- in him. He doesn't know when to stop." Apparently so. Haha
  7. Interesting idea. A couple of points... 1) Who's going to couch up the dough? I'm not sure the NZ government is going to be as generous as the Tasmanian gov. Would the AFL want to pour money into this? If not, what's the point in selling the games? 2) Flying from Melb to Auckland takes three times longer than Melb to Launceston. I imagine it'd be best to sell games that draw low crowds, and these are typically versus non-Victorian teams - would be a long way to travel for some of them. What impact would this have on our on-field success, with regards not only to rehab etc. but also to our performance in the games following.
  8. Too old for me.
  9. Exactly what I thought. I originally thought the Colin this was referring to was Sylvia - we can only dream.
  10. I wouldn't have thought so. I agree.
  11. Looking at those, it's Bruce by a whisker, IMHO.
  12. The fact you're an AFL member with Melbourne Club support is not the reason you don't get these these emails. Try contacting the Club.
  13. I wasn't aware volunteers were involved in the site. Do you know this for sure, or is it an assumption?
  14. The list ages aren't much different from Club to Club, and change markedly from year to year. It's of more interest to look at the core of each side, and evaluate where they're at in their footy career, IMO. In '08, the Dees had a very young 22, with many of our older players fringe (Holland, Yze, and even White) or finished (Neitz). Other older guys weren't part of our core (ie. Whelan, McDonald in his modified role) or missed substantial footy (Robertson). You've got to be kidding. I thought the first call was a fairly extravagant one ('minimum'?), but the second line - wow. Egan will be a handy 'recruit' - he seems to be the forgotten man down at Geelong.
  15. Getting O'Keefe here would be bad for us and him. We want a player peaking for our next premiership contention period, and O'Keefe should want to go to a Club that has a premiership window approaching.
  16. Those teams would willingly swap one of their grand finalists for at least one Demon. However, we wouldn't accept the trade. As an example, Stokes for Davey, anyone?
  17. It's bizarre to use the fact we finished last as leverage for a case that states none of our players are better than the 44 that played on Saturday. Did we ever finish last when Robbie Flower was playing? I'm sure Clarkson and Thompson would have happily selected some current Demons if they played for Hawthorn or Geelong.
  18. No thanks - too old.
  19. Haha.
  20. I think we'll continue to struggle next year. However, I hope - and expect - a more competitive team. Our percentage will be a better judge of how we travel than our win/loss, which I expect to be pretty poor once again. If we can nab some quality picks next year that'll be great, because after 2009 I expect us to be pushing up the ladder. Access to QLDers.
  21. I'm not sure it works like that. Don't think you can't win 1 game one year, win 7 the next and still get the PP in the second year, from what I've read.
  22. I believe you're right. Top five, or something like that.
  23. I don't think this is unique to Melbourne. I'd say this is also the case for every other Club out there. In fact, given their larger supporter bases, I'd say there are probably more disinterested 'supporters' of other Clubs.
