He looks good but he runs like Lachlan Hansen/Jimmy Toumpas.... Looks restricted in the hips or something.

I see Jordan Lewis every few weeks and he does not look big enough to be an inside mid at AFL level but he is and he is a bull. He's as lean as could be with spaghetti arms. Parish has a decent frame on him so he will be fine. The difference between Toumpas and Parish is that Toumpas is a pure link-man or 'sweeper' off half-back, whereas Parish takes contested marks and wins and gives off contested possessions regularly. He is a bit like Shuey or Shane Edwards. He isn't a pure outside mid.

He has played as a defensive forward with some success but it is definitely not his best position

Kieran Harper started his career with a bang but has a Blease-sized tank and is not defensive at all. Elliot Kavanagh's shortcomings are largely attitudinal and there is no way Roosy would pick him.

Parish will be the perfect number 2 midfielder to link the inside grunt to the outside run and carry. He's a footballer. I love how quickly he can receive the ball and kick with perfect technique. Doesn't seem to mind the inside stuff either.

He gets at least 25 touches nearly every time he isn't the sub but that's at Hawthorn. I'm not sure he brings much more to the table than someone younger from a state league. Sam Menegola would be worth a punt ahead of Simpkin, in my opinion.

To be honest, Jake Spencer is better than any of that bunch.

He doesn't have a slight frame at all. He will grow to a good size

I think we should be looking at Mitch Hibberd at pick 7. He hasn't been mentioned in discussions much as a top 5-10 pick but he is a certainty to be taken in the first round. Hibberd is a 191cm half-back/midfielder with elite kicking skills and reading of the play. He doesn't mind winning his own ball and his kicking is a thing of beauty. He is a bit older and was overlooked last year due to injury. I think he will end up as a tall midfielder that can play at half-back if needed, similar to Shaun Burgoyne but with more speed. He is tall and has a huge tank like Charlie Curnow but seems to be a more natural player and his kicking is light years ahead of Curnow's. Viney is too short to make it at AFL level too. Wait for the next delistings.

Probably the only mid in the draft (apart from academy selections) that doesn't have any glaring weaknesses. Inside/outside type with good skills and excellent vision.

Why don't we offer to pay an extra $100-200,000 of Howe's wage on top of GC's offer if he goes to GC? If we replace him with a kid, we won't be using more salary cap space anyway. A bit out there but why not?

Not inclusive of The Footy Show appearance fees and Collingwood sportsmen nights, etc.

There is more to a player than what they do on the field

I think kicking skills are more vital for a midfielder than the contested marking. I'm not sure Curnow is a very good kick. If he is, I agree with you. When more footage of the players comes out, we will be able to make better judgments but from the limited vision I've seen, Curnow doesn't seem to meet the minimum kicking requirements of a top 3 midfielder in the draft.

The only power they have is that, if the player walks and nominates for the draft, the player risks being picked up by a club the player doesn't want to play for. If they don't want to play for them, they sit out of AFL for 2 years.

I think we missed the best-suited player for one of our needs here...

It's the combination of: 1. Having to pay minimum 95% of the salary cap despite being awful 2. The introduction of free agency 3. Dodgy as [censored] 3rd party deals 4. The ability to pay over 100% of the salary cap every second season. Another problem for us was the introduction of the two new teams and the lack of quality available to us. It's the perfect storm. Adapt or die.

He has barely played in the backline before so I think the combination of a fresh club and a fresh position could result in a surprise for most of us. Here's hoping.
