  1. daisycutter: think you may have it there! Howe looks exciting but without Robbo's blemishes. Didn't see him injured after any of those marks. Is this the most exciting big man draft for us since the really exciting and high potential (Bates,Dunn,Newton) draft?
  2. what this flag in 2013 rubbish? everyone knows its finals next year, flag in 2012. its all in the bailey plan.
  3. Just remember the square logo represents the low point of our club, where we threw away all our history and culture (there will be no more demon !), and came as close to losing our club as we ever had. This emblem is the counter to that, it is full of meaning and character. Every part of it represents something major and significant. Ah, but you want a logo, ok, there's a Demon for you. Simple and logo-ish. Something to think about - it seems that when an AFL club restores pride in the past then improvement comes to the club. Melbourne in the late 80's when they dumped the colour-tv jumper and restored their proper colours. Brisbane when they went from Bears to Lions. Sydney when they became the Bloods. And look at what happened to Melbourne when they went to the block logo, and Brisbane when they went to the Paddle Pop lion.
  4. but it would ruin Bailey's plans. This year - games into kids. Learn lessons. Next year - competitive. finals. 2012 - Grand Final win. He might have to 'modify' some team structures to get the results he originally planned. Yeah, Go Dees. 7th. Beat Hawthorn. Beat Collingwood or Footscray. Beat SK. Geelong um, er , yeah, shades of 88, maybe lets wait for next year.
  5. wow. just brilliant. and that's even after getting an earlier sneak peak. great presentation as well. gee, compared to that dreadfull and meaningless box they were using!
  6. emergencies must be presumably Miller (for sure, though I do like him at CHF for structure), Wona (unfortunately, love him in), and then one of Trengove (fully fit? then why on the bench?) or PJ (but i reckon 2 ruckmen will be used) or Morton (but he's playing well and learning too) or Jones (but also playing well). Can't we just play with a bench of 5?
  7. ok, RDB as a player > NS and JS but in the context of the club? NS probably top. JS getting there. HCAHarrison maybe there too, as well as CheckerHughes.
  8. Yeah, I had a play with the ladder predictor too, and gee its an interesting last few weeks! So we win the last game against North, and then we can start dreaming! first week of finals: Melb v Hawks. Big game. We can beat them. second week: Collingwood have lost their first final. Third game against them for the year. We win by a point. third week: Bulldogs. We can beat them this time! fourth week: Grand Final. Geelong. Ok the dreaming is over. Could be worse than 2000 and 88. Go to Noosa. Take a late snow trip. Don't go to the G.
  9. from above; > Percentage Boost. By Round 22 it's going to be real tight mid table. > If we limp in on % then it is almost not worth it. just remember percentage is now irrelevant, unless we have another draw. I remember hand writing ladder predictions back in 87 and following them through the last rounds, so much easier now with internet ladder prediction sites.
  10. Original poster is correct though. "If Only" shows how close we are. The good thing is that it doesn't really matter this year, but they learn so much from those games for next year, and which then comes in useful for the 2012 premiership year when last weekend's effort becomes the norm.
  11. no point resowing or relaying - remember, grass there has a managed death not growth. and unless you can find another purpose for it then why would you not demolish a white elephant?
  12. we picked up on him early - called him tackleman since those early rounds. love his play. knew he was in it it alot today but didnt realise 12 tackles.
  13. Hey negative losers, Melbourne Football Club almost beat a top 4 team at their home after giving up a 40 point lead. Look at the POSITIVES instead! What got us back in the game? Who was responsible for that? Enjoy and consider the good days to come. or be negative like my daughter who announced after the game we wont win again this year and wont win a flag for 40 years. So what are you? A proud and optimistic supporter or a 12 year old child?
  14. Anyone NOT remember this? That's when I finally realised AA was a joke.
  15. take out darwin and we are up to 42000 average. Not bad. North are terminal unfortunately.
  16. always good to have a comedy thread
  17. You'll be lucky to find a seat in the members. All visitor tickets are sold.
  18. Lets just settle on the Invincible White Demonic Fuchsias. (my avatar is actually called Demonic Fuchsia in the spore world he comes from)
  19. might just have been co-incidence, but removing the demon and going to the blah square logo coincided with the club nearly dying. just out of curiousity - when are they going to restore www.demons.com.au ?
  20. How much is a loss worth - lots! Against North they learnt they still have a long way to go. Against Collingwood and Footscray they learnt they can still lose it in the last fwew minutes - and in the future when it counts they won't lose every again like that.
  21. had a good laugh at this topic. it was a joke? right?
  22. as shown by the affect of a big north player in their forward line. yes a big player does make a difference, but then again, I think they are more concerned about teaching players how to run and carry at this stage.
  23. huh? we have a forward line? I thought it was just a bunch of midfielders who run down there.
  24. Apart from the obvious which everyone uses, we also use Pettard - Number Plate since we own the MFC-15 numberplates. Silvia - Roll used to go with (B)Rock before we lost him. Grimes - Everyone's Favourite since everyone, commentators, reporters, fans, love him. Jurrah - Walpiri Wizard we hate jurricane, cougar, they all sound fake.
  25. definitely in the third category. bizarre game. so much rubbish. so many odd moves. we were actually leaving with 5 minutes to go, but then they got those goals and we stayed. So yeah, would have loved the win, but also love still being in with a priority chance. Beat Freo and we still get the priority pick but don't get the spoon. Sounds good to me. I hate to barrack for my own team to lose. Its clearly a bad state of play. Everyone can see it, including the AFL who can't admit it. Should have been fixed years ago.
