So Fev has caused chaos at 2 afl clubs, and now could be the catalyst that finally destroys the VFA(vfl) after 134 years. Once the AFL teams all go solo then thats it I reckon for the VFL as a competition. Pity, I liked the idea of wffiliated teams, and it worked well at Sandy, and Casey did seem a good idea. The past two final series for Casey and the lack of Melbourne players was not a good sign though. Sandy always had a full quota of demons in their finals.

Initial reaction - hate it in every way. But damn it, this is Jimmy's cause isn't it - helping those written off. He's a local boy, he knows there is nothing after this, it may just work for him. So yes you can complain to Casey, but you also better tell Jimmy off as well I guess.

There are too many (poor) football journalists and not enough stories, which is why they love Scully type stories they can keep going. Can't we just set an auto filter in these forums to delete ANY contract talk discussion (including this one) and only allow conclusions to be published. Maybe there should be an auto email to any of these rubbish journalists to write a real story whenever they do contract speculations.

Check out both the National Sports Museam at the G, as well the MCC Museum (also at the G!), there's a stack of memorabilia there, starting with the very first rules and onwards. Match that Collingwood! I think most of the cups are stored at the NSM as well (including the first official cup, which we won) Value: much more than Collingwoods, this is national treasure stuff, not suburban football relics.

kicking back: just remembering the grand final replay where sk refused to kick forward or even move the ball, that gameplan certainly didn't work.

Need a copy of the Stynes book, previous copy had unfortunate accident. That's one that will need an update in a few years. Got Barassi for Christmas. Saving until the footy season starts.

Saw new jumpers in Rebel today. Are these defective ones? I'm colour blind so don't ask me if it was orange stars or royal blue blue. $99 I think. Melbourne shop website says March for new ones. Presumably Rebel wouldn't get priority so they must be old? Must ask them and see what they say. (and yes, would prefer to buy from demon shop, but daughters birthday is next week and she has a voucher for there.

it rates right up there with miracles for sainthood. still remember the financial report from the non-demon Melbourne Committee and realising this club is dead. and to get where they are today is incredible. everything they are doing seems perfect. Just remember Collingwood are performing a vital role collecting THOSE members - do you really want any of those particular 60,000 leaking over to Melbourne membership? I suppose a reverse-exorcism to install a demon might force the pie out, but its a big risk.

Sick of these you got to be a MFC member to be a supporter discussions. You do realise this mass buying of memberships is only a modern phenomena? Back in the 50s and 60s we had a massive SUPPORTER base, now go and check the membership levels - bugger all, and that was for all clubs. Are you saying your parents/grandparents weren't real supporters? - don't think they'd be very happy with you. oh by the way, MCC member and being buying membership donations to the MFC for several years, including the daughter who doesn't go, and the daughter who can get in on a guest pass anyway. And yes, there are circumstances where an MCC membership will be purchased and the MFC won't be, like next season when I don't work for 6 months due to chemotherapy and luxuries such as MFC membership will only be paid for 1 daughter. also how can anyone say MCC membership is not great value? AFL membership just doesn't compare.

Cups were first presented in 1959. So no, we have more legitimate cups than them. Recreated cups prior to 59 don't count. They won penants back then.

no problem with Sheeedy's statement. Its unarguably true. What's the fuss? But then again, there's about 2000 footballers who were "more talented than Melbourne great Jim Stynes was at the same age." Its what happens after thats the real story!
