  1. I always look at the 22 and count how many uncomfortable smirks I give - meaning how many players do I read their name and think 'gee, dunno about that guy just yet.. think he's a bit of NQR' this includes young players who may well develop into something but right now, in a match tomorrow, they are not particularly valuable. We have Clark, Dawes, Jetta and Viney unavailable How many of the 22 give you that uneasy feeling? No need to name them.. but go right ahead if you want Backs Jack Watts James Frawley Dean Terlich Half backs Jack Grimes Tom McDonald Colin Garland Centreline Jack Trengove Colin Sylvia Sam Blease Half forwards Rohan Bail Cameron Pedersen Jeremy Howe Forwards David Rodan Max Gawn Shannon Byrnes Followers Mark Jamar Michael Evans Nathan Jones Interchange Aaron Davey Matt Jones Jordie McKenzie Luke Tapscott
  2. ah yes.. of course we were criticized for being soft and protecting them from the Cats
  3. when is the final side out? For the first time in a while I actually give a toss about it
  4. yeah but how many times have you heard/read a player NOT back his current coach in the public arena? It's never happened in the history of sport
  5. he is a fantastic tackler, he would have been handy in most games this year where the opposition was just waltzing out of stoppages, he NJones and Sylvia are a nice tough three in the middle for mine
  6. that's it mate you got it without needing a response. He has a good footy brain and excellent skills with pill. He has athleticism, but he doesn't use it so much. He lacks heart. He is not far off the complete player if someone can drag it out of him, for that rerason alone I'd keep him in
  7. well I have not seen evidence of this, I've always regarded him as a tough player who lacks any kind of polish! The Simon Godfrey school of football!
  8. each individually, for moments, yes, but never consistently together did they combine as an A grade unit, not even close
  9. only if you come out all guns blazing, and anyone that does that I'm sure isn't the slightest bit bothered at having the ball hit back hard
  10. even though I have been scathing of Watts lately for his half-hearted efforts, it is true what many have noted that he still does some very good things.. things that aren't in a player like McKenzie's vocabulary, for this I give Watts a bit of a pass, I want to see him play harder but I wouldn't drop him, he's just too good
  11. well said, and that's why I agree with having Nicho, Jordie and Joel Mac in the side ahead of anyone peahearted.. standards have to be set at this club and they have to be set right now
  12. that must be a joke, if we beat winless brissy this week we will be 12th or 13th
  13. down at the Lexus centre they have a boot room, sock room, jocks room, mouthgaurd room.. you have to tour the facility before training.. members' money well spent
  14. more talk.. what else is he going to say? I'll see Dawes playing well and Melbourne winning games before I commence any backslapping
  15. agreed, he has always been a bit of a free-kick magnet because he is such a beast and so capable in the air that is often nearly impossible to spoil him without infringing.. but this round the umpires just weren't seeing it for him
  16. Sorry but you should have gone with your first instinct - this is no longer something we can use to make ourselves feel better MELBOURNE .......................OPPOSITION RD AVE GAMES AVE AGE AVE GAMES AVE AGE 1 ......64.2 ........24.33 .............55.2 ........ 23.17 2 ......65.9 ........24.25 .............83.7 ........ 24.93 3 ......58.5 ........24.17 ............103.5 ....... 25.67 4 ......59.5 ........24.25 .............28.6 ...........22 AVE ..62.03 ........24.25 ............67.75 ..........23.94 notincgws 62.87 24.25 80.80 24.59 the important bit is that last line, excluding GWS, we have matched up against our opponents with a deficit of 18 games and 4 months and we have been smashed
  17. this is one of those things that will never go away people will do anything to win and others will do anything for money the nature of it means that there will always be grey-areas and dodgy workarounds it is exactly the same as garden variety recreational drug use it simply cannot be controlled fully
  18. what part of 'third most goals for the club ever' do you disagree with?
  19. This is what I don't get - you can be absolutely certain that his coaches and others around the club have been in his ear with all sorts of advice and approaches on how he should be improving his deficiencies.. no doubt he has been directed to study certain players, and has had 'special guest' type mentoring from big figures in the game.. why after 5 years are we not seeing any of these things getting rectified? It is one thing if a player has no footy brain, he is too undersized, his skills are just shyzen, these are things that are impossible or at least very difficult to fix.. manning up, chasing and attacking the ball are qualities that can theoretically be fixed in one second, they are basic decisions that are completely in the mind. That is the big worry for me, JW seems to have huge problems getting the message that everyone else can plainly see.
  20. I totally agree, I would love to at least know the ratoinale behind Neeld's refusal to do this. Now that Clarke is out the idea is not so flash though, I would like to see him in there with Clark, Dawes, Howe and maybe big maxy all in there, would rather not get a better defender on him
  21. even when the Jacks were interviewed on the ground, they said to them 'go sing the song, hope you haven't forgotten the words' would have been nice if they told him to go youknowwhat
  22. yeah but saying it like that doesn't have the same impact
  23. only our supporter group could be ruling out a win against a winless side, directly after a 12 goal quarter
