  1. did they sing the song at half time or what the game-of-two-halves performance today is even more damning than last week for Neeld - it shows there is something there but for whatever reason Neeld cannot get them to produce it consistently.. and when the chips are down, boy are they down. In reality if any coach is ever in charge of a side that is outscored 11 goals to 1 in a quarter he needs to go. oh and words cannot express how much I hate Jamar. 2 weeks in a row he has cost us very, very badly. A complete spud who somehow had one great year - i'll be damned if anyone can explain that.
  2. I have gotten over my shock, despair and outrage. I will be there. Unfortunately there is a possibility we are looking at the last days of the Melbourne Football Club. If that happens, I don't want to look back in a few years and know that I deserted them at the death. If it doesn't happen it will mean we have survived because we managed to turn things around. Either way, it will be profound and I do not want to miss it.
  3. it could be argued that the damage is done by the time they part ways with us
  4. me too it is clear that the promise of draft picks returning us to glory has been a complete and total failure and yeah all this losing hasn't been very enjoyable nor healthy for the survival of the club
  5. agreed, baby steps please. I would have thought first order of business is working out how to not get completely blown away by a barrage of quick opposition goals.. this is clearly an obvious comment but if I were in charge that would be my focus.. making sure the game is not a complete whitewash by half (or even quarter) time. I would say the best way to go about that is to have everyone play tight on their man and lock up the ball. Obviously it would also help if we didn't have the worst ruckman in the world handing the opposition the cleanest centre clearances imaginable, that is in dire need of a revisionary tactic also. If we lose by 10 goals this weekend I will be happy, as insane as a comment as that is, it is the first step back from the hell we are currently in.
  6. That's exactly how I feel and have been saying it for years When people again and again talk about us 'picking the wrong blokes' I feel like I am being smothered in a honey-like substance called stupid Or maybe they're right and we just happen to pick the dud every single time even though the whole country rates them on draft day
  7. i know right? talk about picking the most inane, unimportant topic to focus on
  8. you lot really do amaze me.. nothing but Watts sledging, then he gets dropped and everyone is critical of the selection. He has obviously been asked to achieve something on field.. getting 2 kicks was obviously not that thing. I feel there is a hint of a statement in Neeld - the statement is 'yeah we're going bad but what can I do when these so called elite performers are simoly not having a crack' I for one am happy every time I see an underperforming player actually get disciplined at this club, we have had players coasting with impunity for the better part of 15 years. The next trick is making sure he doesn't just automatically stroll back in next week. I want three performances that prove he is a cut above VFL, then he can come back. As others have mentioned though, Sylvia should be gone, as should Jamar, who I hold personally responsible for about 80 points scored against us last week.
  9. the image of Hird actually administering the needle personally is just fantastic, eat s--t Essendon Dank also said he gave players an extract from pig's brain, which is used to treat Alzheimer's disease, the first milk from a mother cow and a bark extract. That sounds like something straight out of a kid's story about an evil witch with a cauldron.. what in the name of God has happened to sport in this day and age Yeah I want to get a couple more kicks, hand me the syringe full of pig's brain please Disgraceful
  10. I just want to see any of the below: -some sort of team game plan/strategy.. some thinking -some reaction from Neeld, move players, drag players, try something -some sort of awareness of your opponent, both with and without the ball -genuine fearlessness at the contests -some passion, leadership and talk -some skills that at least resemble AFL standard -someone, anyone to do something special.. a highlight (exc. Howe) -Watts, Grimes, Trengove, Sylvia, Jamar and Frawley look like the quality you are supposed to be that's my 8 criteria, each of them are worth several goals on the board I will review post-match at how they went please God not over 100 points
  11. I would like to Neeld to look straight into the camera and say 'in all honesty, we have some important things to work out at the club right now, and we consider the media's involvement in this to be a hindrance rather than a help. So with all due respect I would ask you all to leave us to our business as nobody associated with the club will be giving any comment whatsoever'
  12. the way things are going for us this will turn into some boozy fight outside the portsea pub
  13. Oh thank god, my fingers were trembling about to unleash on you I NEED them to suffer
  14. Thread title should be 'losing - damned if you do, not if you don't' That's all that matters to anyone. We could be the richest, best run club in Australia but we would still be copping it for losing like we are. Conversely, if we were a top side on the field nobody would give a hoot what is going on with our admin/finances etc.
  15. It all seems plausible that most of the group haven't been impressed with Neeld and perhaps wanted out of the MFC, and that is why we have lacked such ticker. IF that is the case however, it does not excuse any individual one bit. If you are in that situation you suck it up and play 100% professionally, for your teammates and your supporters, and simply for your own sense of pride and desire to win. You do not drop your head and serve up half-arsed efforts, if I was coach I would drop a player straight away for doing that and when asked by the media I would make it clear that I don't tolerate 'dummy spitters' putting themselves before the team and disgracing the jumper in the process. Why would you keep it under wraps, and continue to pick the player in the side, while he continues to sulk and wrecks your career. Neither the media nor the supporters could criticise you, even for dropping apparently important players, because you have supplied the ultimate justification for doing so. Then you would get to see how that player responds to being publicly 'outed' as a pea-heart. The onus would be back on them to prove to everybody that they are a footballer and demand a spot back in the side. They could forget about getting interest from other clubs once the word is out they are not commited footballers and are playing down at Casey. Once an example is made of one or two watch the others pull their finger out to avoid the same fate. Am I crazy or is this the obvious course of action MN should be taking at this point? NAME AND SHAME THEM MARK.
  16. 1. Have you observed that our players do not man up/put pressure on the opposition, and when we are in possession nobody leads/makes space to move the ball up the ground? 2. Have you communicated to the group that this is possibly the most fundamental concept in the sport of football and should not even need to be mentioned? 3. After this communication, did you then observe that most individuals had apparently ignored your instructions? 4. Did you then have these players dragged, screamed at and dropped from the side for not complying with your instructions? 5. Does anyone in the coaching staff believe in points 1-4, or do you operate completely independently? 6. Have you observed that point 1 is just one issue of many where the team is seemingly unaware of the most basic concepts of the sport? 7. How in the name of God did you end up being our senior coach when you seriously seem to have inferior abilities to most junior and amateur coaches?
  17. Is this just completely forgotten about is it? Our ridiculous tanking investigation lasted an eternity, dragging our name through the mud and causing all manner of instability within the club. i have no doubt it is one of the many factors that have conspired to put us in the hole we are currently in. Why is it that the AFL and the media had no problem raking us over the coals, but when a 'big' club faces a more serious issue it simply goes away?
  18. delist Jamar one of the worst games of footy I have ever seen
  19. not exactly groundbreaking commentary there Sue... they should be soundly beaten prior to the shooting though
  20. has to be said that getting drafted by us is just a curse for anyone's career. We will never know what this player might have been at a real organisation, same goes for Sylvia, Morton etc We have been burning high draft picks for the better part of a decade. Very sad.
  21. we've just been beaten 100-1 in the second half this is against a fringe8 side at home that is actually worse than 186 Bailey was sacked the next day, I expect the same tomorrow
  22. whats the story with that pre-game address? Whose idea was it? It was almost like it was shown exclusively so that everyone can witness for themselves that Neeld has no idea... even the fact he knew he was on camera didn't fire him up. Call me a conspiracy nut, but somebody arranged for that to happen in order to sign Neeld's marching orders
  23. Mark Jamar, that is one of the worst halves of football I have ever seen, he is responsible for a good 6 goals by simply handing the bombers a solid centre clearance again and again, there has been 18 centre bounces I reckon he's lost every single one.. and 2 disposals to go with it, unbelievably bad
