  1. and how much traffic is there! I just counted, in the last 32 hours there has been a little over 90 threads started... we've had enough MFC and everyone is coming here, the only place they have to express it
  2. That thought occurred to me also, in past times of great stress like this, there has always been at least a few characters telling the rest to harden up, stay patient, look for the positives, support the boys etc. This time around it seems even the most ardent optimists have spat the dummy. Another terrible indictment on the club.
  3. I am a fair weather supporter if your definition of 'fair weather' is hurricane effing sandy crossed with the boxing day tsunami
  4. PFT, the whole lot of them should be tarred and feathered in front of the supporter base as for Magner, how bad are you if you can't get a game with THIS mob
  5. Agreed, and what an indictment on our club that supporters are actually happy for a bloke for managing to get away from us and enjoy real football.. doesn't get much lower than that
  6. Yes another depressing thread. Just saw Hawthorn's Shoenmakers affect a great defensive spoil against the cats, the huge crowd erupted. Young kid, high draft pick, being worth it. The side up and about and looking the goods again. Plenty of enthusiastic fellow supporters around you. Down the other end, the poster boy of the AFL is just doing what he does, which is consistently kick arse in a very entertaining capacity, while the country watches, and you gain more support and more money. These moments are NEVER available to you as a Melbourne supporter. Yesterday was a HORRIBLE experience, an actual NEGATIVE experience that I am still feeling the brunt of, that is not what supporting an AFL club is supposed to be about. None of us can be accused of being soft, we have been sticking at it year after year and have gotten nothing but anger, shame, despair, embarassment and humiliation for our persistence. So sick of it.
  7. NEWSFLASH 1. there is absolutely nothing a coach or player can possibly say that will satisfy anyone after a loss like that 2. despite this, we will still get posters expressing their outrage at whatever is that is said FWIW I thought Watts seemed genuinely shattered, or did a good job pretending to be. He did not quite serve up the usual platitudes, obfuscations and prevarications you expect.
  8. HAHAH and the EXACT OPPOSITE thing was said about Bailey ("these players don't need a good bloke they need a ruthless bastard") you have to laugh or you'll friggin top yourself
  9. must have missed your post mate, can you show us the 14-goal loss prediction please
  10. we should get a big screen and show a replay of today's game, with 300 or so supporters watching.. the players must attend and sit separately amongst the supporters. They have to cop whatever is said to them, and if they choose to they can interact with us. I would like to see what they have to say for themselves, face to face with supporters, confronted with their own weak, stupid and downright inept performances. Then they might get some idea of the agony of being us and take that onto the field with them next week. Give them a dose of their own medicine and let them feel the utter shame and embarrassment that we live with.
  11. I think this is a good idea. It has been 7 years, 3 coaches and god knows how many players (near 100?) of absolute garbage. Clearly it is not a matter of individuals at the club being to blame, there is something rotten at the core. We need to get to the bottom of what it is somehow.
  12. Neither did anyone - the betting odds are always a very good indicator of public opinion and we started just very slight favourites. I certainly didn't hear or read anyone at all claiming we would go down by 14 goals
  13. he certainly wasn't, but how is that relevant?
  14. There is no doubt about it, we are tetering right on the brink of extinction. We have been in trouble for a good decade at least, and today was a giant step back we didn't need. Makes me sick to my stomach that my poor old man is going to be alive to see 150+ years of history go down the gurgler in a sea of ignonimy. It completely blows my mind that generation after generation we cannot get the staff, coaches or players to reverse the trends, there is just a stench of failure attached to us and that is that. I suppose the question is now, will they live on in some other form, and will we support that form? Or have to start again with another club? Or give up the ghost altogether. How incredibly depressing.
  15. as a jack watts defender, that effort is completely indefensible
  16. I can't believe that just happened Have you ever seen a worse contrast between two sides in terms of the space/freedom one has over the other? Time and time and time again they had loose men everywhere, while we didn't seem to find one for the entire day. Jack Watts had 2 kicks.
  17. watched 1.5 quarters, had no sizeable impact from what I saw. Year number 4, not seeing a superstar, not seeing 50K a match either. I really don't care though, his departure was.. at least in a way ... instrumental in acquiring Hogan, Viney, Toumpas, Clark, Barry and Dawes - getting those 2 picks and the extra cap space completely changed our landscape for the last two drafts, I doubt we would have been able to pull off anywhere near what we did at the trade/draft table if he hadn't been such a [censored]
  18. there it is again miss the first game due to not being quite ready = nothing expected of you for the following 8 matches
  19. Yeah well last night's match hammered it home for me too - most of the best 10 players on the ground were high-draft-pick players who have clearly become the developed product they were supposed to become when they were drafted. Why the F does this not happen at Melbourne? It's highly infuriating for me.
  20. It's just a matter of time - Morton, Scully, McLean and Sylvia are all elite talents and top 5 draft picks and they just need to develop Oh Sorry I just had a flashback I'm sure that it will be a different story for Viney, Toumpas, Trengove etc
  21. Gillies at FB, surely you jest.. in the game vs the Saints he was a shocker
  22. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/melbourne/news/2013-03-28/toumpas-viney-and-jones-to-debut.workstation getting FN excited now
  23. The problem with that is obviously that if we say that, then we come out and get pumped, we hand everybody ammunition to get stuck into us more. We are not far in front of GC and GWS in terms of our development, and the facts of life are that you WILL struggle if you are in that situation. There is no use making a song and dance that purports some other reality.
  24. Bailey got 3.5 years. At the time of his sacking we had nearly a 50% winning ratio and he still got the A. Did we jump the gun as a reaction to 186? I don't know. I don't care what happens this year, we MUST stick to out guns and give Neeld a 5 year window (at least) to build his side. If he is about 20-25% into that now I would say he is doing OK so far.
