  1. In the last 14 seasons there has been ONE 100+ haul, which was Buddy, with 102, in 2008 The game has changed I think we need to accept we will probably never see 100 goals at the MFC
  2. That doesn't mean he doesn't want as much of it as he can get, like everyone else. Unless you believe in santa.
  3. I know an alarming number of posters love to exaggerate how carp we are, for some bizarre reason, but you've named 7 players, only 4 of whom are 'busts' (at least at this stage). They come from 4 drafting periods, and 3 of them from the late-first/early-second round area. It is not good, but no as horrendous as most like to make out. The real issue is the fact that the ones at the pointy end of the draft don't seem to become genuine league stars, at least not yet.
  4. to state the extremely obvious, Craig's eligibility is unique to the rest since he is actually at the helm for another 9 matches. Come round 22 it should abundantly clear if he is the man for us or not, the others are all mystery bets really
  5. I agree, and send Paul Roos and James Frawley a copy
  6. what are you, high? every club in the comp would consider that kid to be the biggest asset in football.. there are plenty of midfielders bouncing around, but an 18 year old key forward like that is pretty much unprecedented I don't care what anyone says, to turn Scully's betrayal into getting Hogan, Viney and Toumpas in one go was an absolute masterstroke by those involved
  7. 64 games into Jack Watts' career he had the breakout game last week, at season 5 his worth is STILL being discussed... I don't know why anyone even bothers thinking about it for first year players... it is truly absurd IMO even a bloke like Trengove is in his 4th year and I am not comfortable forecasting anything about him, because you just don't know, nobody does
  8. kinda sounds like the noise when somebody kicks it.. toomp
  9. I don't care at this point in season 2008 we were having the same debate, and I was strongly in favour of bottoming out for picks, saying exactly what you are saying now. The counter argument was that fostering a so-called 'loser's mentality' would be more harmful in the long run than a priority pick is worth. I think it is blatently clear that the 5 years that followed have been a complete disaster and I believe one of the major reasons is because we set a cultural tone of failure around that time that echoed for a long time. It is also clear just in the last 2 weeks that confidence + success breeds more success and we need to start building up as much momentum as we possibly can. Not to mention we are in the market to try to be an attractive proposition for a quality coach and quality traded players, we will not be doing ourselves any favours by ending up on 4 wins from here.
  10. What have priority picks done for us other than bring extra pressure, scrutiny, disgrace, humiliation, disappointment and embarrassment. All they serve to do is consolidate out status as a loser club I think and hope we end up on 6 wins, last year that would have been 13th and far away from the stench of the evil picks
  11. yes it is hard to argue that a margin of 1 point is the same as 200 points, therefore 1=200, yet here we are
  12. oh really is that what happened is it speak for yourself, I am not a cretin
  13. well that's a load of manure, of course it matters
  14. totally, we should have a symposium with all the mothers of junior footballers, so that they can dictate our recruiting. Come to think of it, there must be a wealth of expertise amongst the grandmothers too, so let's get them involved
  15. he is going brilliantly, but to be fair, his first 5-6 weeks this year weren't much chop. Jones has been great almost every week. lately though Garland is a very complete quality player
  16. if he plays every week like last night he is in the best 22, simple as that
  17. Agreed, most overrated player in the history of the game. I have never conceded that I would prefer to have Watts and I still say in all honesty I would not swap them today
  18. you're doing your credibility no favours when you refer to a BOG performance as 'microscopic improvement' it's going to be interesting watching you squirm as Wattsy gets more and more runs on the board.
  19. watts clark hogan dawes and howe surely the greatest forward line in AFL/VFL history coming up for us edit: let's put it in a time capsule now, for the first time all 5 of them line up, hopefully it is R1 2014 unless of course one of them is injured
  20. is there any way, just this once, whoever tallies up the votes, to give us the actual result of this game instead of just the overall season leaderboard? I've never understood why that isn't posted, obviously it gets tabulated in order to inform the overall leaderboard and therefore it should be zero extra work to just post the actual result of each individual match alongside the overall season tally. wtf?
  21. Watts Howe Terlich Nicholson Trengove Frawley apologies: Dunn Rodan Davey Fitzpatrick Sylvia Toumpas Dawes
  22. best day of my life (until we conceded 7 unanswered goals in the last 20 minutes) took the shine off it big time.. wtf is wrong with us? anyway.. apart from the obviously awesome performance of Watts, it was all the blokes that normally give us f-all.. rodan, davey, fitzpatrick, toumpas, dunn etc just about everyone was good tonight (up until 10 minutes into the last) been a long time since i've had the pleasure of saying that (up until 10 minutes into the last) f-ck the fact i have to put that disclaimer in there
  23. Surely the Hulk will be our long-awaited superstar. McLean, Sylvia, Morton, Viney, Toumpas, Watts, Trengove and Scully? None of these blokes have had so much promise on display before putting on the red and blue so exciting!
