  1. If you want poor execution then Blease will be your man!Tapscott in for Morton. If Macdonald is out then take your pick from Bartram, Evans or Blease - either way barn doors will be missed.
  2. I was most impressed with the strong mark at CHF on the lead earlier in the game. That and the big pack mark.
  3. + 1.I think he made improvements the last two weeks, but today was a big step backwards. Casey is calling. Has to get the skills under pressure and the hardness up. It's all he's lacking from been a consistent player, but it's no small deal!
  4. Really happy he got to play a game as the number 1 ruck (against Freo). He got a taste against Essendon when he was more than handy up forward and in the ruck, he got a taste of getting beaten by Collingwood, and then he got a good run in the ruck against a solid player (Griffen) and a goal up forward. Perfect 3 game stretch.
  5. I'm warming to Jurrah sub myself. Gysberts generally plays a good first half when he is fresh and we can leave Sylvia forward more - along with Petterd, Green, Watts, Howe, Bennell doing a defensive job and Jamar/Martin. Come the second half bring on LJ, put Sylvia and Petterd into the midfield rotation and watch Liam take them apart. By sitting on the bench he would arguably give us more than what he did in the first 3/4 on Sunday. It would be a gutsy call from Bailey but lets see what happens.
  6. Most logical people say - he needs confidence. Then go to the game and boo him and shout abuse at him all game. I'm not sure how much of this players here, but last week some nut bag out of nowhere top of his voice yells "see you at Casey Morton". When clearly he had put his body on the line a few times and made a solid contribution. We all defended Watts for so long, maybe its time we have a little patience with Morton. We've all noted what a weapon he can be and obviously missing a lot of footy over the last two years has slowed his development from talented junior to a guy who knows how to play within a team. It's why I liked him at half back where his job is simpler - stand opponent, chase opponent, spoil ball, run to space, kick. But the club are taking the tougher option by putting him on the wing where he has to think about positioning and win much more contested ball.
  7. Does he get a game ahead of:Watts - no Green - 5 goals last week says no Howe - no chance Jurrah - LJ has been struggling, but it would be a big call Petterd - Ricky's VFL was as good as Dunn's and he more than played his role last week Call me crazy but I still think Dunn can be a useful player, but he has to replace one of these guys or wait for injury. He also has to get back to full fitness and be part of the midfield rotation like Petterd is doing. Part of this is our fault I think, after his impressive performances late last year we tried to make him into a big strong forward, when really he needs mobility to impact games.
  8. Reason's why we didn't keep him at the end of 2009:A) Dodgy groins followed by hip injury that required surgery = backwards start for 2010 B) The trouble with his ex girl friend - never a positive C) He wanted a trade D) Those kicking skills can be up and down, the booming long kick certainly suits Collingwood's game plan more than ours at the moment Of the quotes it is only this one that bothers me. "I wasn't able to get on top of the injuries, and once I was out of the team I hardly had anything to do with any of the coaches," he said. Surely it is the players out of the side who need the most coaching. Hopefully we've come a fair way with stuff like that since the end of 2009.
  9. More on this website will know Barry Price for his teaching than his playing career. Round 22 full forward line this year:SCULLY, GAWN, HOWE or WATTS, SCULLY, DUNN
  10. Keep picking the best talents under the age of 24 (that may involve trades - but not big buy ins). With GWS coming in I still think its important for us to get the strongest young list available. Free agency will come in at the end of 2012 and that will help player movement and will make bringing in experience much easier, so I say wait until then for gap fillers.
  11. I disagree, you have to remember Foley is a class player and Jackson will most likely got to Moloney and curb his influence. If we shut down Cotchin and Martin and they shut down Moloney we need Scully, Sylvia, Trengove, Jones and Morton to beat their opponents - likely Foley, Houli, Grigg, Edwards. The advantage we should have is in the ruck with Jamar against Browne, and Martin backing up against Miller or Vickery. Hopefully Jamar and Martin can really wear Browne down and force Vickery into the ruck, thus taking away a danger man up forward.
  12. I agree with Artie. Pretty sure every reasonable person understands that if it was them they would have a tough choice to make, so all I want for Aussie is for him to take his time and hopefully he wants to come back better than ever. If not then I hope we can keep supporting him. But it's not for us to speculate what his decision will be.
  13. Riewoldt - Frawley Vickery - Garland/Rivers don't really mind Cotchin - McKenzie Martin - Bartram - happy for Bartram to tag Martin both when he's forward and when he's in the midfield. Deledio/Newman - Petterd
  14. You've also dropped Bartram for Gysberts there. Not sure why Blease deserves a game over Strauss, who has been serviceable since he came back, compared to Blease who hasn't found consistency at VFL level yet.I'm also not sure why Petterd needs to do show something. He played a nice, neat game against Freo and I expect he'll have a defensive roll this week, that hopefully he can perform which is all he'll have to do.
  15. Could have gone like this: Bailey Harvey 5 - Green Martin 4 - McKenzie Scully 3 - Jones Green 2 - Fyfe Watts 1 - Watts McKenzie We'll never know. I know that personally it would have been a hard game for me to give votes in. At the ground on the day I liked the work of Scully early and thought Watts was very clean and Fyfe was very good for Freo. I probably would have thrown in Martin for some of his brilliance and especially after I saw the stats difference of McKenzie v Pav he'd have to get votes, but that was harder to see at the game.
  16. BT also loves Freo, they are his darlings. I'd still rather him commentate us than Dwayne Russell.
  17. Tapscott listed as 1 more week in todays injury update. Sounds unlikely that he will play. I don't really see the need for Gysberts straight back in at this stage. I think just the one change (Jamar in, Gawn out) will do if everyone is fit. I agree with Bartram on Dustin Martin, both when he's in the midfield and up forward. McKenzie to Cotchin, Petterd to play defensive forward on Deledio.
  18. Usually I think that. But when you have 100kg AFL players running full tilt and 60kg guys backing back in a 360 degree you have to make sure to minimise accidents. The AFL do that by using the fines as a deterrent. Otherwise the umps would probably cop some injuries, and as bad as they are, I've come to a realisation that we can't afford some of the good ones getting hurt because there aren't many off them. It's like how most of us drive somewhere around the speed limit to avoid getting a fine, which therefore minimises the number of accidents.
  19. We have to win the next 3 to be any chance. Do that and then I might get interested. Massive game against the Tigers on Saturday.
  20. Pretty sure either Scully or his Freo opponent knocked one over.
  21. I thought the same thing. But Howe isn't just a mid sized forward who could use his height, he's a genuine marker of the ball and a genuine footballer. I'm very happy with him now. Before the start of the year I was wondering if we were going to unearth some more talent this year, and in Tapscott, Howe, Nicholson, Gawn and Evans I think we've done pretty well.
  22. I'd give him praise now, but it won't stop me torching him when he next barely offers a whimper when we get beaten. Still needs to improve a few aspects of his game. But the main thing I've been critical of him this year is not thinking, doing silly things that aren't smart. He's always been trying.
  23. The best thing we can do is all relax. At the end of the day is it really that important that we find out before the end of the season. All this hysteria and panic is such a waste. Of course I think Tom and his management have made a bad decision in putting things off until the end of the year (regardless of what happened before the season), but he's not letting it bother his football so we shouldn't either.
  24. You can't have Jamar and Gawn in the same forward line. Jamar in = Gawn out. Jurrah is a separate issue. If he's out it should be for Dunn, Gysberts, Tapscott etc. Another possibility which I'm keen on is Jurrah as the sub. I think he'd be really exciting to bring on fresh.

    GAWN

Ball gets kicked forward to Max and 2 Freo defenders, "that ball belongs to Mr Trengove", Gawn chases and ends up with a turnover and Trengove goal. Love it.
