We're still developing our onfield leadership - sometimes we'll be able to arrest it during a quarter (as in the Adelaide game), sometimes we need the break to reset and discuss amongst the players and coaches what needs to be adjusted (such as the North game). It also gives the coaches an opportunity to show the players what's going on so they can arrest it
-
Yeah and the opposition also have their own brains trust and wiz bang opposition experts and go in with suitable strategies. Thing is these are easier to pull off when you have a ruckman and a key position forward.
-
It is if it takes us a quarter or so to work out the opposition midfield due to having no ruckman and the opposition defense due to having no key forward
-
Had we managed to get over the line in just one of our close losses we'd be sitting 6th (4th before this weekend). And weve done it without a ruckman for the most part and without a key forward for half the games. Had that been the case I think posters predictions would be far more optimistic.

So he was stating the obvious?

Followed by cam Bruce's shortly after "The rookie! The rookie!" Do you know what game it was? Will have to see if I have it in my collection.

Best kick Viney ever did! Was only 5 at the time so not sure I was even there have only been able to appreciate on video.

I'm a believer in Champion Data stats and analytics. It stacks up. TMac is one of the best defenders in the league regardless of the criticisms Melbourne supporters have

I reckon half of them are just bored with watching so much footy, they only really get excited for the big games. Remember they do radio commentary in addition to the tv as well as panel show gigs on tv/radio during the week. You can tell half of the time they're trying to find a narrative (or have a punt on) to make the game interesting.

Was definitely against the Hawks on a bogheap at Princes Park, Queens Bday 1989. I was at that game sitting up the top of the stands with my dad and I've got the game on DVD.

Both on YouTube 1:26 below 8:16

Also 1988 prelim vs Carlton kicked one from the centre square at Waverley Garry Lyon 88 Elimination Final vs WCE to pinch the game is another Edit - just saw the above posts
-
I was working that night, taped the game without knowing the score. Thought it was wrapped up, 2 seconds left then that free kick, in our backline, against Neitz of all people, to the Wiz of all people. Could not believe it, sat there stunned for about 15 minutes

They apparently see him as a future captain and perennial AA.

Crows board on BF seem to think it's a done deal Lever has re-signed with them for 5 years
-
I remember at the time there was some BS reasoning that because it was in the last round and the nomination occurred in the first week of finals it couldn't be included for MOTY contention. It sounds ridiculous so I could be misremembering but that is what I've always thought was the reason.

His 2000 season was phenomenal, 76 goals for a small forward. One game at Docklands against either Freo or WCE he kicked 7 or 8 goals including one off the ground from about 40 metres out in the pocket Not to mention his 9 2nd half goals against the Pies after being dragged.
-
Pies supporters have dropped off, only 32k against the Lions last week. For all their bravado we generally split the crowd on Queens Bday
-
Freo maybe, Tigers should've beat Freo
-
Lucky we got ours out the way already

Is May a FA? If he's not not sure how the Hawks can get the deal done. Edit - never mind just saw subsequent posts -
Started pissing myself when they were discussing our tactic of extra defenders coming off the square and rolling forward. Dermott "first time I ever saw that was Geelong in the last quarter of the '89 Grand Final" all he does is reminisce about his good ol' days.
-
No team this year has won all the games they "should"
