Pies fans want out of QB Big freeze match
Dr. Gonzo replied to pineapple dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
I actually respect them as a club and a lot of their history is the games history, especially in the formative years of the comp. But their supporters, my god they are something else. A lot of them are reasonable, I have several friends and my uncle/cousins on my mums side are Collingwood. My mums dad was Collingwood too. I was raised to hate them by my dad but recently I've got more of a hate/respect thing going on with them as a club. A lot of other clubs have idiot supporters but Collingwoods are a whole other level of aggression bordering on/turning into violence. -

They have a contract to play minimum 14 (or is it 17?) games at the G and they have reserved seating in he Ponsford for all those games, home AND away. Not sure if that includes ANZAC Day or not. It was renegotiated when the new Ponsofrd/Northern stands were built I believe or it may have been to do with the MCG giving up the rights to finals games when the interstate side was the "home" team (these things may have coincided). -

The Collingwood supporters on that board and those who whinge about "charity" are too thick to see the benefits their own club gets out of the day. Do you really think Eddie would do anything solely out of the goodness of his heart? He doesn't do anything that doesn't benefit Collingwood in some way. They get to bank another game at the G, they have sole ownership over reserved seating in the Ponsford stand and they get the exposure of another marquee/standalone game on the footy calendar. -
The last two game (GC and Pies) momentum has swung when we put TMac in the ruck and Pedersen forward. I was actually surprised we didn't start with that setup yesterday.

Hopefully 5 in round 23
-
Agreed mate, they were scragging and blocking us out if marking contests all day too. Don't get sucked in by the Pies whingefest the umps were pretty even all day.
-
Hard when you don't have marking targets up forward. I thought we've done exceptional in the first half of the season considering our outs. Collingwood applied lots of pressure on the ball carrier too, they were very good today make no mistake.

Nah I let everyone know about "typical Howe mark of the year then turns it over" I was absolutely surrounded by ferals in the AFL members today, one threatened to hit me, another elderly gent was cracking the sads on the way out having a go at me while I belted out the song at the top of my lungs. Took me back to the good ol days.

Overplayed. Collingwood supporters were whinging about everything plenty went their way too. We ground out a tough win with no ruckman and no key forward. That was a bloody great win. Knew we would come back after being 5 goals down just wasn't sure if we'd given them too much of a head start or not. Bloody proud of this team, can't wait til Gawn and Hogan are back. GO THE MIGHTY [censored] DEMONS!!!!

Any chance Spencer plays?

Haven't beaten a team in the 8
-
If we'd beaten Freo and the Hawks we'd be 4th knocking on 3rd. How the hell did we lose them! So frustrating, we played both when they were at their best for the year while we had key players missing. So frustrating.

Win and we're 6th. Get it done Demons. Can also make up some percentage on Port if we're lucky
-
That can't be right. Docklands tickets are a different website with a different setup - you don't have to select "1" ticket in the dropdown box, it does it automatically. The "1" is for a guest pass which is why you're being charged $60 ($10 for reserved seat plus $50 guest pass)

Difference is the buggy whip makers aren't an essential part of a functioning democracy. Without an informed populace, democracy does not work. Agree with your second point, partisan cheerleading and being bought off has helped kill quality journalism.

Fantastic news for the Lions and the competition as a whole.
-
Nah the new one seems to be "we're preparing for their best"
-
I don't buy papers either anymore but do flick through them when grabbing my morning coffee. It's a shame because once it's all online things will only get worse.
-
Yeah thats kind of what I meant by "ads masked as news" but media releases masquerading as news is definitely another one.
-
There's not actually much "news" in the Herald sun. As an exercise take a black texta and cross out anything that is opinion, advertising, ads masked as news, celebrity tabloid gossip or sport and see what you're left with. Haven't really read the age cover to cover for some time, I suspect it is going the same way only not as bad. But at least they still do have some quality journalism in there.

Has a very QB 2000 feel about it both teams around even in terms of ladder but going in opposite directions. Hopefully a big win can spark a big second half of the season as it did then.

Besides the work they did throughout the EFC doping saga which was the best by far, they also did some work in conjunction with others last year on Unaoil and some articles just this week on the Chinese businessmen with links to the Communist party attempting to infiltrate Aus politics. There's been more over the last couple of years that I can't recall off the top of my head

She is an absolute moron. Same as Bolt, cut from the same cloth.

Nick McKenzie (and Richard Baker) probably the best investigative journalists going around at the moment (in Australia at least). I guess if you're satisfied with the opinionated rantings of madmen you can stick to Newscorp. Others who want actual news do still read The Age even if it's production has declined in recent years.

It's an issue, but considering the lack of ruck/key forward options in a lot of our games understandable. By the way we were on from the first bounce against the Crows. The second quarter they got on top then we readjusted and dominated the rest of the game. It didn't take us until during the second quarter.
