May Day?

So happy with my decision not to purchase this a couple of years back

Salivating at the thought of what May will bring to this team. From our last game if you add Lever and May in for J Smith and Frost we look far stronger already. Hopefully he'll nullify some of those key forwards who tend to kill us over the years. Just this past year Cox, Hawkins and even Dixon/Westhoff caused us big headaches. Frost did well but still always have heart in mouth when he's got the footy coming out of defense. Now, need to find a new avatar...

Don't worry, you're not alone. Plenty of Melbourne supporters feel the same. I don't know why. As soon as they pull on our jumper, they're ours.

That's part of the point though. One in the hand is worth two in the bush etc Fogarty looks like a good pick up but who they select with those picks is largely irrelevant. Fact is we went up they went down in 2018. If we lose Hogan and gain May and KK no-one will give a stuff in 12 months time if we win a flag. It will be sad to see Hogan go as I've really liked him since his debut (although the last 12 months I've cooled somewhat) but at the end of the day I support the MFC. If we're successful I don't really care who is wearing the laundry.

The bombers totally bent us over in the Melksham/Hibberd trades didn't they? And we got robbed trading up the draft to nab Oliver and Weideman. Plus Adelaide are riding high with those draft picks they acquired for an AA defender with born leadership qualities. Have some faith for Christ's sake this administration has earnt it

What other viable offers are there? Dogs at 7 the only one but unlikely they'd (Dogs) be willing to do that.

you don't think we're gonna give up pick 5 for May if Hogan goes to Freo? I'd prepare for disappointment if I were you.

Nah, the trade period should be longer if anything. In many pro sports the trade period extends into the season.

Explain why this would be the case?

That sounds to me like Hogan wanted to explore his options to move home but isn't really all that keen to move unless he gets a Godfather offer (years-wise anyway). And if he does leave MFC want to be properly compensated for what they view as a generational player that you can build a club around. The other possibility MFC were the ones pushing this and Hogan demanded a ridiculous contract from Freo to move knowing they were unlikely to cough up and if they did he'd be set for the rest of his career. It just seems like circumstances brought this to a head with Hogan not willing to commit long-term and mentioning his willingness to explore his options next year, Weideman having a good final month of the season, May being available, Hogans foot injury, Freo having a top 5 pick and MFC possibly reconsidering Hogan's $900k salary. Personally I'll be glad if he stays but I'd hope he reconsiders committing to the club long term (assuming the club still want him to). I don't think he'll play his best footy until he has it right in his head where he will be playing long term.

No, we paid 3 and a downgrade of 13 to 20. We got pick 20 back in that trade.
