Luke ‘dogga’ Jackson rising star favourite
Dr. Gonzo replied to Dave1711's topic in Melbourne Demons
It should be James Jordon has been consistent week in and out since round 1 with few exceptions. It won't be because he's not a flashy player but I'd have him ahead of Jackson this season. Jackson, Rivers, Jordon, Pickett, Sparrow, Petty, Spargo, Fritsch a pretty handy collection from a triumvirate of drafts. If Bowey, Laurie and Rosman come on JT will go down as a legend of the club.- 142 replies

What they're saying down at Windy Hill
Dr. Gonzo replied to Superunknown's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why though? Cos of the merger? Surely can't be from his playing days, or does he blame us for stopping then 3 or 4-peating (1990?) -

Did they also concede they had more frees than us in the 2nd half (9-7)? -
The problem is the cap of 25k is split amongst the different areas of the ground - so there would be 5-6k MCC, 5-6k AFL Members and 12-13k MFC Members/GA - if the MCC/AFL Members doesn't get sold out those tickets go unused.

No movement in 9 days, wonder where we are sitting at the moment

Local media pundits not taking MFC as a serious threat.
Dr. Gonzo replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
A lot of his prediction would be based on the assumption Port rolls us next week. I'm confident we can beat them (we have a bad record at AO against them but were unlucky/shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times) plus it is looking like the game could be played in Melbourne with any luck. -

I love it, keep focusing on the Dogs, Cats, Lions, Port even Tigers, Eagles and Swans - anyone but us. The Dogs were the fancy until we beat them, then the Lions until we destroyed them in a second half onslaught. Now we've gone back to just strangling teams and accumulating wins. I would say if we didn't lose to the Pies the hype would be louder but that was always a banana peel game with Buckley resigning the week prior. I assume we will continue under the radar until we meet Port and if we beat them will be talked up again until we come up against another contender. Cats, Port, WCE don't really worry me, the only sides that do are Brisbane and Footscray, Footscray in particular if they get their swift ball movement going to beat our zone. But then their defense is their weakness so our forwards should more than account for them. Will be an interesting finals series, everyone is saying how open the field is but if we do go on to break the drought I think everyone will say we were clearly the dominant team in retrospect (assuming all goes to plan for the final 8 weeks of the H&A). -
They also have Luke Darcy's kid as a F/S coming through What would they ask for JUH? Probably want an early 1st rounder plus a key back like Petty/Tomlinson or 2 first rounders minimum.

I don't get it tho - didn't the government say last week there would be 85% capacity this week? What's changed? Not too many, MFC don't have many AFL Members at all, maybe a couple of thousand - yet I couldn't get more than 5 seats together this morning (had to split my booking of 9 people in 2) and could only get seats undercover in M24 (I generally like to sit in M18/19 on the wing)
-
They seem to be working off 25k capacity again as it was trickier than expected to get tickets in the AFL Members this morning. You will definitely need to book tickets.

You probably realise that Spargo is playing his role then and playing it very well. Has been extremely consistent this year.

People actually think Spargo is a chance to get dropped ?♂️?? Do you even football??

You want the media to use LESS emotive language? ???

I think it's more that they don't want viewers switching channels which is why they try and make out as if the losing team is still in it/coming back

GWS played a home game against the Hawks at the G today. I think at the end of the day those sorts of things are just going to be "tough luck". If the interstate sides hub in Vic they can get away with normal rounds using MCG/Docklands/Kardinia over Thurs-Sun or even Monday if needed. The only reason they would need a footy frenzy would be so the AFL can keep their promise of no hubs for longer than 3 weeks. Well at the end of the day if options are limited that will have to be off the table. Club's may end up having to hub for minimum a month (maximum 3 months) depending on how long outbreaks/border closures etc last in other states.
-
They will not reduce game time. Have to have the same rules for the entire season, was the reason given as to why they couldn't revert back to normal game time last year for finals/once the frenzy was completed.

We might get lucky and play Port, Suns and West Coast in Melbourne

If they move any further right they'll be to the right of Mussolini.

We should torch the Giants next week, they have been pathetic today.
