I thought we controlled most of the play in the first half but missed 4 goals we should've kicked (Brown x2 Viney and Kozzie). They then kicked 2 just before halftime which ended up being the difference.

They took some chances, we missed some sitters Not much between the two sides Umps gave them an armchair ride I'm looking forward to playing them in September

Depends how we lose. A close fought game that we come up short? Or being outclassed on the more spacious MCG? Either way it won't necessarily mean we're shot for the year but you could definitely be excused for having doubts if the Dogs completely outplay us.

From memory Lyon got injured and missed the rest of the season the next game. He was our only real star so that was that.
-
And if you were on the first tier close to the fence you couldn't see the play on the other side because it was raised in the middle to help with drainage. And you got splinters in your bum from the wooden seats. And it took 2 hours to get out of the car park. And we always played the Hawks there and got belted. Besides that it wasn't bad. Seriously though a couple of my favourite footy memories were there, winning the Prelim in 88 and knocking the Pies out in 89. And the Panasonic Cup against the Cats in 89. And Farmers goal of the year in 97. Missed the 88 & 91 EFs though.

If Schache plays what are the odds he plays ruck and they send English forward? English, Bruce, Naughton, JUH will mark it hard for our backs to zone off as they'll have to stay accountable.

or even 13.18
-
That would depend on whether they could reshuffle the other games scheduled - so who is Adelaide scheduled to play next week? Who are Suns meant to play in round 21?
-
Lacked a key forward.

He killed us last year. Schache in is....interesting.
-
Suns were faves? Surely not

I remember this game well - we got over the Cats by 3 points in a high scoring game at Waverley (112 vs 109) only 4 or 5 weeks after we got belted by them at the G when we kicked 2.8.20 for the entire game (the lowest score I've witnessed us kick) - we also kicked 2.8.20 in the opening round of 1991 when we travelled to Perth and got belted by the Eagles (Allen Jakovich's inauspicious debut).

I have a good feeling about this match

haha give me a spell, the biggest thug to play the game in the last 40 years having a crack because Fritsch gave Grainger-Barass a slight bump in a marking contest? Perhaps next time he should step on someone's head instead or send their teeth into the 5th row like Brereton did to Tony Free?
-
Win when it counts. If we beat Dogs lose to Suns and Crows then beat Cats I'll be extremely confident heading into September
-
It's all going to depend how we perform this week. Roll the Dogs and we will be flying again. If they get their ball movement going and cruise to an easy win its panic stations. A close fought game that we lose? Frustrating but not the end of the world.
-
No chance we have crowds this week, we'll probably still be in lockdown
-
I don't get why we have to move games around? Just play them where they can be played, we will end up being screwed having to travel to Darwin then Perth in consecutive weeks ?
-
And how many kicks fail to score altogether
-
And then Crows/Hawks play next week as well? Interesting
-
Jackson, Brayshaw and Pickett weren't kicking from the pockets, they were effectively dead in front
-
Out - Viney, VDB In- Harmes, Melksham/Sparrow I don't mind the idea of Weid for LJ but I doubt they'll do it

OPPOSITION WATCH: What They're Saying at Waverley Park

Good footballer, dumb as dog [censored] -
Goodwin said the Hawks outworked us and were hungrier. That is damning because it is all down to mindset, we have shown we CAN do it especially against the best so why did the team think they could just turn up for an easy game? Hopefully they got ripped a new one behind closed doors because that is pathetic and it has been a recurring theme. The supporters and coaches deserve better. We want to be a ruthless club? We wouldn't know the meaning of the word.

You did better than me I turned it off the second the siren went.
