The Run Home
Yeah maybe - if we're going to run the table I think we have to go through Collingwood again either QF week or PF week (or even GF if they happened to finish 4th and beat the Cats). Just depends when you would prefer to play them. There's also a chance Swans go above us on percentage so would rather lock in a MCG final so we can actually go!

PODCAST: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
The Pies were in constant movement even when switching across ground they'd take the mark and keep moving so our zone defence never got a chance to set. We need to push up on them and when they switch/rebound out of defence make them go back over the mark and take their kick.

Got what he deserved……
Cox did that a couple of times on Queen's Bday too, didn't jump at the ruck contest just kneed Max straight in the hip/ribs. Dog of a player, dog of a club.

PODCAST: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Who is going to tell Max how to kick a set shot from 20-30m out? He seemed to sort this out and now has reverted to too long a run up, swinging the ball around and hooking out to the right. Is it even worth playing him deep forward at the moment with the yips he has in front of goal? Would we be better off with Jackson deep forward and Max primary ruck?

The Run Home
Swan's missed an opportunity for a big percentage boost today - they got a little bit probably not as much as they would've hoped. They have Pies and Saints last two games, if we win out I think we still finish above them. Feels dirty but I'll be barracking for the Pies this week in the hope we get them week 1 of finals.

PODCAST: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
If/when we face Collingwood again in September what do we need to do differently to get the win. 0/2 so far, 3rd time lucky?

Demons will win the flag in 2022.
No it means things aren't dire and we can turn it around with some slightly better execution in front of goal.

Demons will win the flag in 2022.
2 of those games were less than a kick inside the last minute. 50/50 games.

Demons will win the flag in 2022.
Yep just a bit of cleaner execution inside 50 and we'd be equal 1st and in good form. We missed a few easy chances and our form looks flakey. We're playing well enough I believe, just need to finish off some good work and put teams away when we have the chance.

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
Results v performance Performance wise we dominated Collingwood in all the key stats except the one that mattered. The loss does not dispute that there was a period of loading.

We lost one game - you are talking in absolutes.

Demons won't win the flag in 2022.
This is where I seem to differ from a lot of supporters. Unless it happens at the G and I can actually experience it it's less tangible. Yes winning the flag was great but there's a hollowness to the way it was done after such a long wait. Not being able to attend games, big finals, not being able to celebrate properly. Secondly I don't want to just see us win a flag, I want to see multiple flags and I want to see us compete every single year - like Geelong, like Sydney and like Hawthorn who I'm sure will be back up there soon - or at least every few years like Collingwood seem to be able to do. I'm not fulfilled with the 2021 flag. Yes it was great but I want more. I'm sure Goodwin feels the same, I hope the players do too.

You said our forwards cannot kick a winning score - they can You said we have been worked out - we haven't

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Yep completely shot ourselves in the foot - and Collingwood has always been a side you never give a sniff because when they get some momentum the crowd gets behind them and they pounce.

NON-MFC: Round 21, 2022
That's rubbish od. Pretty sure we won 8 days ago, forwards kicked a score, Freo didn't "work us out". We had the opportunity to kick enough last night and let chances go begging. 13.11 usually enough to win and we left a handful of goals out on the field. It's frustrating but it's not doom and gloom.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
10 of our first 14 games were at the G. I don't think we can complain. Collingwood only played 5 of their first 10 there including having to play at home to West Coast at Docklands. You can't complain about "games against top 8" when the fixture came out no one knew Collingwood, Carlton, Freo would be top 8. Fact is we sold a home game which is the reason we didn't play at the G since the Lions game. If we had a run of games at the G now we would have had fewer games there earlier in the season. We wanted a season opener against the Dogs, we have Anzac eve and Queen's Bday, we play two of our last 3 at the G both home games against big Vic club's - I don't know what the complaint is here?

On one hand I'd love it. On the other hand it will never happen.

Fading second halves
Mental fatigue due to not capitalising on our earlier dominance and hitting the scoreboard. It takes its toll when you've dominated a team but only lead by a few kicks and then they get belief, get on a roll (especially with crowd behind them) and it's hard to stifle that momentum. Scoreboard pressure is still the best form of pressure there is.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
I don't get it - using those options forces the oppo defense to pay attention as well meaning they can't just double team Brown/Fritsch. Use those options and the forward line opens up.
