  1. Returning to Perth for the first game since the GF should get the players in a good mood.
  2. Club policy
  3. Their injury list pre-round 1 had the writing on the wall. Even without covid they were in for a long season.
  4. Actually I've under-rated him, would probably push out Jordon or take Brayshaws spot if he leaves. Didn't realise he was only 26 still a few good years left you'd think.
  5. Not sure about 22 but would replace Baker on the list. Similar situation to Dunstan, securing depth.
  6. Not worried about Clarry at all. Will sign on next year when he needs to.
  7. I love this. English is ok but nowhere near the level of Gawn or Jackson. Staying at the Dogs is good for us.
  8. Goodwin Daniher Northey Roos Balme
  9. Cheers I knew I'd heard the $60m figure somehwere but thought I must have mistaken it for revenue
  10. I think they said on On The Couch Allen is the only WCE player under 23 to play 20 games let alone 50!
  11. The timeslots have not been terrible. Ok the opening game on a Wednesday was a step too far but it was a one off and was a chance for supporters to see the flag unfurled. We've then had Friday night, Saturday night and Saturday twilight. Much better than 320 or 440 on a Sunday. Supporters need to get used to it because we will have similar slots going forward if we continue to be successful. Twilight games against North and Freo, night games against Swans and Lions, probably more night games later in the year against Dogs, Pies and Blues.
  12. It can be especially problematic when the successful culture is spearheaded by a strong leader (Norm Smith, Tom Hafey, Kevin Sheedy) and then when that person finally leaves the bottom seems to drop out of the whole place. It is also problematic when club's have a born to rule mentality - Carlton are just coming to grips with it now and at Essendon, well we all know what happened there. The problem with "the bad times going on for long enough" is that sometimes they go for so long club's completely forget how they ever became successful in the first place (see Melbourne). It takes a massive effort and strong leaders to shift the culture and get things back on track but it's no easy task and many try and fail.
  13. Mark Robinson is appointed the Chief Football Writer of the Herald Sun because NewsCorp sees him as an everyman, a man of the people. This is how NewsCorp views its audience, beer swilling, chain smoking, barely literate buffoons.
  14. First thing Essendon needs to do is can Dodoro but it will probably be Rutten in the firing line
  15. I think it was closer to $60m wasn't it Edit sorry you're right $20m https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-05-21/west-coast-eagles-and-fremantle-dockers-coronavirus-response/12271900
  16. GWS last year as well. Hoping I don't attend another loss live for a few years, make the G a fortress please 🙏
  17. And more to the point, former coach
  18. They're probably still in iso
  19. It's a professional sport, they're well paid, with that comes the public and media scrutiny. Essendon are underperforming. It's probably more the list manager than the coach at fault. Rutten can only do so much but the way they're playing also leaves a lot to be desired. Stringer keeps getting injured because he's lazy and doesn't work hard enough to get himself fit. In the offseason there was an article that said he'd never run more than 2km during preseason in his career I kid you not! I thought I'd misread but Robbo reiterated it on 360 tonight. Some guys like just being known as footy players they don't want to do what it takes to achieve success. Thank god we've weeded those guys out of the MFC for now.
  20. As a fellow AFL member I agree the facilities are ****house and feel as though they've just been left to rot. I'm gonna try the bar on level 2 as that seems much better although not sure if it's restricted to dining packages? I went and sat up on level 2 on Saturday and the view, seats and facilities were a class above what's available downstairs. I may have to start moving across to the other side in GA as although we get seats right on the wing the atmosphere is horrible and when playing most other Vic teams it feels like you're sitting amongst the opposition members area.
  21. It would be great to bring the Demon back - I like our current logo but my kids think its boring - they want something with a Demon on it. Would be great to have the monogram as the "official" logo but a Demon logo for other branding/merchandise
  22. I agree would look great and I've also noticed the 80s emblem giant flags in oppo cheer squads. It got me wondering how they all decided to include these this year? Obviously some discussion amongst the groups or the AFL providing them to the club cheer squads??
  23. From BigFooty (https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/2022-membership-updates.1290913/post-74512462) Apr 21, 2022 - Update Richmond = 94,639 West Coast = 90,000 (announced on February 22) Collingwood = 81,231 Carlton = 78,663 Essendon = 71,973 Geelong = 60,301 Hawthorn = 60,100 (as of February 19) Melbourne = 57,424 Port Adelaide = 56,577 St Kilda = 53,633 Western Bulldogs = 46,718 Fremantle = 46,633 North Melbourne = 43,643 Adelaide = 40,000 + (as of February 19) Brisbane Lions = 37,006 Sydney = 35,722 (as of February 19) GWS = 25,094 (as of February 19) Gold Coast = 8,721 (as of February 19) Carlton hit 80,000 today apparently
  24. The AFL isn't built that way (salary cap, draft etc) but some clubs have managed to beat the system. Sydney and Geelong have been up for 20 years missing finals once or twice then back up. Hawks may prove to be that kind of club too albeit with another year or two outside the 8.
  25. We could continue using Goschs for training and have our staff based at Punt Rd instead of AAMI Park Wouldn't happen but it could definitely work if it had to
