  1. Being a Melbourne supporter is absolutely soul destroying .
  2. I know that I am not in sync with the dominant sentiment of this thread but I thought Tom was better yesterday ,He took a couple of strong contested marks whereas previously he has been dropping everything .H was adequate as a relief ruckman and never shirked a contest .Yes he is slow off the mark and that is a legacy of his toe problems .If his marking continues to improve Tom will be a valuable contributor and should be persisted with .
  3. AVB got through the whole game without breaking a single bone so he will be primed for Saturday night .Both he and Bennell are slow but unlike Bennell AVB plays without any thought of self preservation and his grunt is much needed .
  4. gee I suppose at a stretch you could describe Howe as a great defender although i dont see it that way .But Dunn ? His is biggest achievement with us was getting his contract extended.Always completely at sea against an opponent who was strong overhead .Be very surprised if he plays Saturday night.
  5. With Oscar if they are small they are too quick for him,if they are big they are too strong for him .He is a long way short of AFL standard and richly deserved to be dropped .
  6. I would probably add Luke Jackson to that list of puzzling draft selections ..What is the point of a forward who cant mark above his Head ? Hopefully he will come good in this area but I already have m y doubts .
  7. there is universal criticism of our game plan .But can someone please explain our game plan .? Ports was easy enough to fathom but we were completely static and our forwards just stood around like Browns cows ,Can somebody just explain to me what the blueprint of our game plan is .
  8. We were putrid tonight and I left the ground absolutely gutted . I am not going to make excuses but we had absolute no energy from the get go and I thought very early on that our goose was cooked .i dont know the effect of the 4 day break on the team because this is new territory but there was no spark at any time tonight .
  9. surprisingly but thankfully my ticket came in a late afternoon email from the club Go Dees.
  10. did anyone score a ticket in the ballot .I sure didnt .
  11. He actually doesnt seem likely to take a contested mark.i cant recall him ever clunking one .Weed on the other hand is a good but inconsistent contested mark.
  12. i didnt use the free ticket for Sunday night as i thought Thursday nights allocation might favour those who adopted this course .Best i could do was be placed in the ballot so just hoping
  13. Bennell seems at present to walk with an affected gait ,almost a limp.In the warm up was only moving at half pace .not sure if he will be ever completely right but a managed omission might br whats needed for this week. .As brave as he is I think Jetta is finished .He is so slow that everything is done under pressure .Tmac is a certainty to return and I would play Tomlinson.
  14. no I also thought Oscar was poor tonight particularly in pressure situations .Seems to just freeze .
  15. more a case of Jones being better suited to the forecasted conditions rather than a message to TMac
  16. i think Harmes may tag Zorko because he has been successful in the past in that role .Maybe no tag on Neale and punt on Maxs ruck dominance .
  17. i think his hands are still pretty good .More just a matter of timing his leads and his leap.Still has the attributes to make a valuable forward
  18. No trade .We just dont know how to do it effectively . No Mike Brewers at our club .Probably end up trading Max for him
  19. thankfully we have the Giants at home .Important home game for us..Not certain how often the Giants visit GWS stadium.
  20. he looked completely underdone Saturday night ,was puffing and panting and looking for a rest but still managed to take more marks than any one in our forward line through sheer ability alone .
  21. we would be better off avoiding any trade .We don't do that at all well .we would just end up on the wrong side of the balance sheet .The list is good enough already to perform well .
  22. Bring back the super raffles so at least I can feel that i'm in with a chance .
  23. not to mention the sleep patterns of Rory Hilton.
  24. lets be clear so that no one is misled and increases the risk of infection to others .Even if you have no symptons you must maintain social distancing to avoid unknowingly spreading the virus .The spread of the virus by not maintaining distance was the risk of the weekend demonstrations.
  25. The vast preponderance of opinion in this thread is that the game in previous decades was a better spectacle .I fully concur with this view and have nothing to add, .However the solution is more intriguing .The WAFL adopted as we are all aware a 16 on the field model with a view to make for a more flowing game .The ground are no bigger today than the 1980s but the players today are and they cover such more ground .The problem of congestion has been exacerbated by the Rodney Eade flood .Is it time to consider the old VFA 16 player a side formula which at least provided extremely watchable footy.
