Can't decide whether this is finely-honed satire or just plain dementia.

I definitely remember Joe Cocker having to cancel a show (during my exams!!!) in the mid-70s because a lot of things went wrong. They then rescheduled the show to start at midnight after he had already done a show earlier that night, which was a spectacular success. And I'm pretty certain it worked so well that a few other bands did the same when they ran out of dates for an extra show. I remember trying to find my way home at 2.30am from Festival Hall after an awesome midnight show by, of all people, the Eagles (probably because it was their first tour after Joe Walsh joined) in about 1975, not long after Cocker did it. In those days a Joe show could be sublime, or it could be a mess. He was never "so-so".

Not only kicks helicopters, but does helicopter tackles too! -
As long as there are no D'land tantrums when Frawley tears it up for Hawks in 2015 and shows how good he is!

I realise I should know this, but what's the record for number of Blueys? And consecutive Blueys?

Sooooooooo ... After falling in a massive hole in 2012 & 2013, we're roughly (very roughly) back to where we were in 2011. I'll take that.

But that original "deadset douch" post did get 16 "likes". And in the early pages of this thread, there were many similar expressions used by other posters. Sweet Dee wasn't the only one by any means. -
I think where the Toump could be good is at something we've been really poor at - that last delivery inside 50. At his best early in 2014 season - might have even been in the practice matches - he had the ability to find someone in space i50 and nail the pass. But it's a matter of him getting it, or of getting it to him enough times, to make a difference.

We've been North's [censored] for far tooling. Ordinary team, ordinary club. Biggest bunch of whiners in known universe (they're mentioned in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy")

Grimes is OK when he's running and balanced. His clangers tend to happen when he stops (e.g. when he gets a mark or free). He tends to lean back to kick instead of forwards, and over 30m or less, this means he has to hold back on his kick and not kick through the ball. So it could go anywhere. And it tends to float. If he wants to hit a target short, he needs to lean forwards and kick it firmer. Which isn't a problem when he's moving. If he's not moving, he shouldn't go for short targets. There are very few Dees who can reliably hit a target with a short pass. Toumpas, Watts, maybe Salem, that's about it. That's also why Davey was so valuable for 2 or 3 seasons under Bailey. He could short-pass to someone in space and get our running game going.

A BIG POINT ON THE COMPASS ~ The Sam Baulderstone Thread
Akum replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would make a lot of sense to pick him up as a rookie. At 23, he's about the same age as Gawn, and wouldn't need years to build up his body. We'd only have to upgrade him if there was a LTI to one of the ruckmen. Of course, if he did start killing it at Casey, he could come in after Round 11. -
It would be 12% if they were all fit for every match. Over a full season it's more like 5%.

Hope they managed him better than we managed JT. -
Didn't he get picked up with Cheney? Crows?
-
If Gawn could string a dozen games together, let alone a full season, he could be anything. Big "if". But yes, we are light on for rucks, especially ready-to-go rucks. We could pick up Hammelmans in the rookie draft, but he'll take a few years so that's not going to help our immediate situation much. Looks more of a lead-up forward anyway. There didn't seem to be much on offer in the trade period this year. Hopefully we're already putting the feelers out for 2016.

Perhaps. Although Jason Taylor strikes me as the sort of guy who doesn't need a whole lot of help.

"Tracca", as in "Tracker". Isn't that what Brayshaw called him in their joint interview? -
The gallop on our young backmen

I think in the games we played well last season, our transition from defence to attack was pretty good. But in the games we played badly, it was appalling. The same applies to getting a clean breakaway clearance from stoppages, which is also a type of transition play. To me, this is where we have so much catching up to do. But our trading & drafting has gone a long way towards getting the capability to do this, both out of defence and around the stoppages. -

If he can hold his own in the ruck & does develop a tank, he would be extremely hard to match up on around the ground for an opposition ruck. -
What are the chances of rookie-ingTappy?
-
What it's about is for at least one or two of that "promising" 10 to make the step up into A-grade. Rather than 10 "fringe" mids out of which we have to choose 4 (or whatever). Which is what we've had so far.

Seems like one of those drafts where the right things just fell into our laps. 3rd rounder for SOS. Pick #3 for Frawley. Saints take McCartin, leaving us Petracca to go with Brayshaw. ANB & McOz slip to 40 & 53 respectively. Is it MFCSS to ask: Too good to be true??
