  1. Nah, we'll just have to get a longer snorkel!
  2. As, we hope, are the Whinge-aroos!
  3. And it wasn't as if the two defenders were slouches either. Malceski & Broughton. And to me the most pleasing thing about Hogan's game on Sat was that it was "just a game". He really just did the good things well. He didn't star, he didn't extend himself, he didn't do anything amazing, he wasn't BOG. That's all yet to come!!
  4. If Frost is on the bench, he would give Jamar a chop-out for 10 mins a quarter. Then give each of the tall forwards (Dawes, Hogan & Watts) a rest for 10 mins each across the game. That's getting about 70% game time without having 4 tall forwards on the ground at the same time. So there's a way to play both Dawes & Frost without getting top-heavy up forward. He's also our best back-up if one of our key talls (say, T-Mac or Jamar) get pantsed or (God forbid) injured.
  5. Dusty certainly gave up the chase pretty early.
  6. Well folks, do we stick to our predictions of no more than 4-6 wins and bottom four? Some of the sides we thought we wouldn't beat looked pretty bog ordinary this round. Bears. West Coke. Norf. Even the Pus Kitties. Not to mention the Baggers and the Colliwobbles. And that win against the Doggies in NAB Challenge not looking so bad now.
  7. Will be interesting to see how Roos & Stafford et al counter Mumford. Didn't he give Jamar a spanking last year? If that happens again, we'll need a Plan B. And whether that involves Frost or not is also tricky. Maybe Mummy knows what Frost will be like as an opponent; maybe he doesn't.
  8. SOunds interesting. Saty getting a facelift???
  9. Also coincided with the coming of Roos and the leaving of ... you know, that other guy.
  10. "I think it's disgusting that Jack Watts is yet again in the club's publicity. Whether or not he wants to do it is totally irrelevant. The club should keep him out of this sort of stuff and force him to concentrate on his football!" (Hope your sarca-meter is functioning Jab')
  11. Good post. IMO the fact that we are still gelling as a team - and still have a long way to go - is our main problem. Which, by the way, is a slight negative (far outweighed by the positives, but a negative nonetheless) of making wholesale changes to the list year after year. I think Roos' main priority has been to try to settle the various parts of the team - midfield, attack & defence - even if it means limiting the amount of experimentation he can do. That's why he's kept the selection fairly stable, which means the guys like Bail & Matt Jones & McKenzie have been selected for all three games, despite struggling. He would probably prefer to bring the likes of Brayshaw & Stretch into a settled "gelled" midfield than into one which was still scrambling for everything.
  12. He also said, "Life wasn't meant to be easy." Must have been a Melbourne supporter.
  13. My impression is that our very very worst performances seem to happen when we're favoured to win. Our worst games last year were St Kilda first round and GWS, both of which we were favourites. Not sure how accurate this impression is - what do others think?
  14. The bolded bits could just about be said of Joel Selwood. Maybe Viney just needs to learn how to buckle at the knees and throw his arms up at the right time when tackled.
  15. Since when did we get up to Grade 4 standard??
  16. Yet Roos keeps picking him! Must be awful for you!
  17. And when you're losing it out of the middle, you're really in a lot of trouble.
  18. A lot of things about today deserve to be criticised, but one of them isn't Toumpas.
  19. So that's what we'd look like without Nathan Jones for a half.
  20. Great post. And classic avatar!!
  21. Total waste of time & money - if anybody's serious about membership they can turn up tomorrow!!! (Is there an emoticon for "tongue in cheek"??)
  22. You can find a metaphor in anything if you look hard enough. See?
  23. Wow, that sheds a new light on the situation. It certainly makes things that look simple on the surface a lot harder in reality.
