Here's a positive thought - remember what happened the year after the last time we didn't make finals? 😁

I was there, but I can see why many weren’t. We were non competitive last week so I think many were scared off. Is the way we played today the only way we could have beaten port? I think to this that is the case. I’m all for contest and defence, but the wider problem is that it’s a bloody hard watch and we seem to make the same mistakes entering 50 over and over again. Surely it’s got to change.

Does the Burgess model work anymore? Crows haven't really improved, and our players look exhausted in the second half of each season 2022-24 following the Burgess model.

Just out of interest what do you put the difference down to between the 2018 finals experience vs 2022/23? I (mostly) live overseas too (and missed 2018), but was here for the 2022/23 finals. Sadly I've not seen the Dees win a final live since 2006 :(. FWIW I went last night (actually arrived in from overseas Saturday morning and convinced 5 others to come!). Reminded me of the bad old days a bit. It's been a tough grind being a Dee since round 11 2022, with some unsavoury off field stuff, a grinding playing style and some really flat performances this year. Maybe it's taken it's toll on everyone involved with the club. But it's better than the days when we couldn't compete

To me it seems like us against ourselves more than anything. Can’t fault the intensity or commitment to run out games, improvement of execution is what we all want to see.

Well if he plays a full season and kicks 60 odd goals he will just about be the hottest property in footy. But Jeez he didn't put any speculation to bed did he?

I think we will find improvement from hopefully having access to fit forwards (Petty, Fritta) and another year under the belt of JVR. But that might be off set by not doing anything to address our poor skill level through the midfield (Billings, Duursma or Gresham might have been interesting to look at). Perhaps something is in the works over the next day or so. Perhaps they might use Kozzi in the midfield a little bit more next year.

Need some better kicks and intelligenceup field. Shame Salem has been well below par since 2021. In Van Rooyen, Fritsch, Petty we have all the pieces to the forward puzzle.
