2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Adam The God replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wines and Martin are not dual-sided at all... Martin will kick checksides if he can't kick a right footed drop punt. He's one of the players that Dunstall bangs on about who lacks the skill to kick on his opposite side. -
He is exactly the type of player our midfield lacks, but is he worth the risk? I know many clubs will be asking that, but he really is the missing element from our midfield. His leg speed alone would propel our midfield from C grade to B+ grade.

I've said it before, but at a random home and away game against West Coast (that Ashley Sampi mark game), there were 36,000 at the MCG. Okay, so it's one thing to have supporters, but to actually convert them to members is tougher. However, our supporters are out there. When we're flying, we can easily get 40,000 members, probably evem 45,000. With a switched on bloke in Peter Jackson running the business, we can get to 50,000 members if our onfield form returns.

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - Round 14
Adam The God replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah, it's their web defence, which basically relies on amazing communication between the players, good reading of the play and discipline. Their set ups enable one of their defenders to almost always get a 2-on-1 happening on the opposition forward. Healy intimated Simpson may have taken it from Luke Beveridge when he was defensive coach at Hawthorn. Obviously, Simpson was midfield coach at the time. -
Keep it coming, buddy.

So would I.

We need to run and carry and make the West Coast defenders accountable. We may well try to go small this round. An extra runner or two.

Stretch is a really good example of a young player who is clearly being 'taught' well by coaches. He takes the first option, which is more often than not the right one. If you compare this to someone like Jimmy Toumpas (originally coached by Neeld's regime), you can see he is still struggling to eradicate errors from his game, because he fails to take that first option. This is down to the early poor coaching in his career. I think Jimmy will get there though. It might take a season or two to completely erase those decision making blues, but time is on his side at 21.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Adam The God replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep. We need more top end quality. We need more potential/legitimate A graders. -

Still soooo shallow. We need 10 or so A-B graders who can rotate through there. We don't. -
The last decade of insipid football from a club he loves.

Fast becoming one of my favourite posters. Agreed.

Yep, spot on. I'd prefer Prestia and/or Coniglio. They are the types we should be after. -
He looked pretty detached to me, but I guess you can read that stuff any way you want.
-
And yet people continue to fall for the spin every time. We're playing our hands professionally these days. Of course we're not going to [censored] all over a player's trade value by playing him in the 2's or talking him down in a press conference. We'll do the complete opposite.

Thought exactly the same thing myself. Though, I'm sure we're up on all of that anyway. -
Speaking of posters with good mail. SPR is the guy you should be listening to. PartyBoy came in and mentioned Goodwin coming to the MFC, but he wasn't the first one on Demonland to do so. I'll leave it there.
-
If he's still around the club afterwards, it kind of makes Goodwin's job pretty tough. Every time there's a loss, people'd be saying get Roos. If PR moves on, I'm not sure that's then an option. For me, it's absolutely vital that we retain Peter Jackson beyond 2017. We need that off field stability and sound, unbiased, professional decision making.

Good time to go for the Gold Coast boys.

He interests me because he's a gun, but the MFC connection certainly allows me to love him when he's not playing for the MFC. -

It's covered up their deficiencies. He can carry a team, by simply dominating games. -

What the hell is the 'God Squad'? I think I can work out the 'Party Squad'. -
No, thanks. Wouldn't mind Col re-signing though.

Completely disagree. Jamar doesn't move outside of a twenty metre perimeter. Jake did really well. Kicked a goal, kept the momentum going at centre stoppages and he chases. Jamar lumbers around. Jake has been shat on all year. He deserves to get a bit of credit. His work rate is so far superior to Jamar's it isn't funny.

People talk of Yarran's elite kicking, but he can be pretty hit and miss IMO. -
I've only seen it once and saw it for the first time last night. An absolutely disgusting act. Disgraceful he didn't get 4 or 5 weeks.
