  1. Agree to a point. Some of our old blokes will never get it.
  2. I actually thought this was a sarcastically titled thread. I LOLed. Anyway, not sure I agree. You don't need many handballs if they're effective. We overuse it ridiculously. Particularly yesterday. It was heart in the mouth stuff. I had a headache watching yesterday's game and it wasn't just because we threw it away in the last 40 seconds. Obviously, the overuse currently is much more about the lack of run and supporting spread, than it is about poor decision making. Although, some of the latter can feed into the overuse. Exhibit A of poor decision making, Grimes handballing backwards to Gawn standing still when the corridor was open yesterday.
  3. I'd prefer it to be against Essendon. Jeffy can kick his 10 against Carlton. :D
  4. Watts is doing the right things now. He also seems to be one of the only players who isn't afraid to back himself. Surely, yesterday was evidence of this. Watts, Toumpas and Cross will and should stay. The rest will and should go.
  5. We did the reverse huddle a bit today. Watts called it. Kicked it straight up the middle to Tommy Mac on the run, who dropped it and from memory, the ball ended up coming straight back or it was bounced by the umpire. I wonder how much/if any of Goodwin's tactics are being implemented by Roos. I suspect we won't start anything too creative until next year or the year after.
  6. I don't think anyone is saying we're set for talent. We're just not stupid enough to believe we'll get a PP. Not to mention we'll win more than 5 games...
  7. I don't mind a bit of hot air sometimes.
  8. That's the thing about this season, mate. Our best is far and away better than we've seen in a long while, but our bad is still as putrid as the Neeld days, IMO.
  9. What a horrible post. You can do better than that, jnrmac.
  10. Can't recall Tyson playing a worst game for the MFC and I don't know which game you were watching, but Howe had a ripping second half? Agree with the rest though. It's hard to see through the error-riddled insipidness of the rest of the game, but there were definitely some positives today.
  11. Is that on the cards?
  12. I'm excited by Roos and McCartney's development abilities that all these guys will come on nicely. The first two already have. Reckon we might have a really exciting midfield in a year or two. I just hope we can trade in some leaders to support them.
  13. I'm not having a go at you specifically, JRS, but the way people talk about Jimmy around here, It's like he's a 7 or 8 year player. He's 21 years old. He's got another 10 years in front of him and if he keeps it up, he'll only get better. I understand the reticence with all our failed drafting in the past, but it seems that so much of it was also development. Jimmy is in a good environment now and the FD (and Roos) have seemingly nursed him through the past 12 months beautifully.
  14. He made some very good decisions today under pressure. When you have 26 of them, it's rare they'll all be 100% efficient.
  15. And haven't we had some obnoxiously horrible posts from you along the way, PF? But well done for recognising his thoroughly promising game today. My old man, who has been a critic for a while, recognised his form today too. Jimmy is building nicely. I wonder how much kudos should be directed at Brendan McCartney? Either way, Jimmy seems to be putting in the hard yards and it's beginning to pay off.
  16. Jamar is finished. All he does is drop the occasional tap he wins at his feet and then is hopeless when the ball hits the deck. He'll retire or be delisted. He should hang the boots up at the end of the season.
  17. Ordinary bump.
  18. Exactly. I envisaged Stevens getting out the back in open space like he did for his goal earlier in the match. Sure enough, it happened. Absolutely hopeless.
  19. We looked more likely to win against Collingwood last week, than we did against St Kilda today, IMO.
  20. Correction. He had a good three quarters. He just doesn't watch it into his hands. He drops his head. But perhaps there's also something in the knee history.
  21. Exactly. Just before Toumpas scored his first, Gawn dropped an absolute uncontested sitter, practically in the goal square. He ended up being involved in that Toumpas goal, but his hands are horrible. As you say, mate, he positions himself quite well.
  22. I think we have a new contender for old iron hands out there. Max Gawn. Couldn't mark a beach ball. We're predictable down the line to Gawn, but we get away with it if he could take a contested mark. He's 208cm FCS. It's about time he starts playing like it.
  23. Riley is done for mine. I'd venture as far as saying Matt Jones offers more across four quarters. Neither should be at the club next year.
