The Ruby Demons - an LGBTQI Melbourne Supporter Group
Adam The God replied to therubydemons's topic in Melbourne Demons
'A' was recently added into the lexicon to represent asexuality, but at what point does it become offensive to throw all the minority sexual preferences under the same umbrella? Anyway, not the point of this thread. -
Don't bring up an almost ten year old thread or anything...

You didn't hear their coach then. Apparently it was their inexperience. -

Well done, Ruby Demons. About time we had an inclusive group like this. Glad to hear the club are getting behind you. And so they should. -
I'd be going hard for Josh Kelly then.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Adam The God replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I actually think Hogan waiting for the CBA suggests he's willing to look at a longer term deal than Tommy Mac was. I'm hoping for a 4-5 year extension and I'm sure the club is too, which is why they're being patient. -

Are you a Melbourne supporter by any chance? But seriously, the team we're building is going to be a contender. Takes a lot of luck to win a flag though. Injuries, being able to hold onto players etc. Either way, how exciting is it watching this young team? They could do anything this weekend, from spanking Port by 100 to losing by 7 or 8 goals. -

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this, but I'm just getting around to watching some of the MFC website video content from last week's game and came across the post match interview with Jonesy. It genuinely sounds like he trying to fight back tears. Fascinating interview and proves how much the guy has ridden the ridicule we've all suffered (except amplified for him) as people connected with the MFC for the past decade and it's as if finally the shackles have been released. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2016-08-06/rd-20-nathan-jones-postmatch It's just not me, but he is fighting back tears, right? -
I'm looking at licensing that track for a TV series, so I certainly do.
-
Setting yourself up for disappointment, WYL. Ridiculous expectations IMO, but I hope you're right.
-
I think we'll probably see five go from the main list and perhaps a rookie or two. That'll be it. Pedersen will get another deal and Matt Jones probably will too.

If your reference to Rance is in reference to what I said, all I simply said was that Rance was a butcher. And no, you're being revisionist here, Steve. He was weak in the contest too and was an abject failure when thrown forward too. To put it simply, Rance was a hack early on, but he's developed into one of the greatest one on one players of his generation.

Bit of buzz on one of the Facebook pages too that both McDonald's have re-signed.

The combined Jaeger O'Meara and Dion Prestia Thread
Adam The God replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Crouch would do me fine. He's having a top second half of the season. Another ball magnet. -
I'm sorry. I get as frustrated as you guys, but if you think inconsistency in the youngest team in the competition is inexcusable then I can't help you. GWS could pinch a flag as early as this year. They have all the talent in the world, but have never made finals. How do you explain that lest experience?
-
I'm sorry WYL, but young teams are known for being inconsistent and it's foolish to expect them to have the right mindset every match. You hope for it, but it's never assured. It's why I'm not entertaining the thought of wins in our three remaining games. I think we'll get one, possibly two, but most unlikely that we win all three.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 21
Adam The God replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Couldn't give a toss what Hawthorn do this week. I just want us to back up our performance from last week. I was more confident going into the Hawthorn game than this Port game in hostile territory. -
And what's great about this is we got him for a steal at pick 34. The lesson to be learned? Don't spend your first rounders on ruckmen when you can get them late in the draft or even off the rookie list. NikNat and Grundy were wasted picks despite their abilities. Top midfielders or KPPs will always beat out a top ruckman IMO.
-
Well, we're in trouble unless his disposal improves dramatically. Not saying it won't be he's in our top 5 worse disposers.
-
What do you reckon about this, Mach? Would we want him?

I like that Tyson got a bit of recognition this week. He's been brilliant for weeks now. -

Can I just say that the Bont's 19 touches getting him the same seat on the interchange bench as Viney's dominant 39 possession game against the top team is a down right disgrace. The Bont is a good young player, but hideously overrated. -
