  1. No from me too. We're almost at the stage where we can choose the guys that actually want to play for Melbourne. Unless O'Meara nominates us and then is prepared to come over for $500k (not going to happen), then we should stay away.
  2. The comparison with McDonald is not apt IMO because even when making errors, McDonald would bring the defensive aspects of his game. Harmes is hard at it, but he's next to useless if he's not getting the ball. And most of the time when he gets it, he puts team mates under pressure with poor disposal. It's like PD said, it might not translate on the stat sheet how poor his disposal is, but 'using one's eyes', he's a butcher.
  3. Yes, Christ Dawesh. Hi. And obviously a typo.
  4. Won't happen. Has been like that all year and Roos has continued to back him. Not sure it'll last all next year though unless he improves his disposal dramatically.
  5. Explains why I've never heard of Martin Blake. He's on SEN...
  6. Well then that also makes sense. He will have seen his team beat us twice, yet look at the ladder jealously and think why isn't it my team.
  7. It was mentioned during the commentary by one of the broadcasters. Don't recall if it was the Collingwood Melbourne game or just another Collingwood game.
  8. I just know that the Maynard's are MFC supporters. They'll be happy.
  9. I think two important things must happen this weekend. 1) we take care of Carlton. Obviously, by more the better, but a win will do. 5-6 goals would be good enough. 2) a strong Sydney team peaking as they always do in the lead up to the finals with Tippet back in, spank North by 7-10 goals. I think a Sydney win is almost a certainty. They're brilliant at this time of year. We just have to take care of Carlton, however that happens.
  10. There's absolutely no argument that can be mounted to say Garland, Grimes and Trengove aren't struggling. They're not struggling in the VFL, but are they on an AFL list to play VFL or are they there for another reason? Each time they've come up to AFL level their flaws have been painfully evident. I think it's completely fair to say they're struggling.
  11. I think it's fair to say McVeigh is the one who marshalls the troops back there for Sydney. But I've had Mills in my supercoach team all year. He's a gun. I think Weitering is a big chance as a KPB, but given the Hogan/Cripps rivalry with Carlton last year I hope Carlton miss out again. That'd be funny.
  12. So you're saying it's all about development, not recruiting? Gysberts, for example, was a poor recruit because he wasn't a contested bull and he didn't have the right attitude. No amount of development would have made him a star, IMO. I'm in the it takes good recruiting and development to make a good player camp.
  13. My dream team too, except I have Salem on the bench instead of Melksham.
  14. I just can't see Prestia going to Richmond anyway.
  15. Pretty much what Mike Sheahan implied on AFL360 tonight.
  16. We bought our tickets for the Geelong match this morning. So there are tickets remaining. Get on it.
  17. I'd hold off then. O'Meara isn't the guy I'd target.
  18. Except O'Meara's knee is O'Meara's knee and Burgoyne's knee is Burgoyne's knee. I'd be going hard at a Jack Martin, Josh Kelly, Devon Smith, someone like that instead.
  19. Great post, LH. Agreed. And now with the success of this development year, it enables us to attack the top 4 next year, 12-18 months ahead of schedule. Our team will have a defensive group that has had pretty good continuity together, since basically the loss to Hawthorn earlier in the year. The FD have done a terrific job and it's great to see everyone getting reward for their hard work behind the scenes.
