  1. Anyone who wants Jesse to go has rocks in their head. Exhibit A ^
  2. Agree with the leadership, but Vanders is ordinary and if we're serious, won't be there in 3 years time.
  3. One of the other things I want our midfield and coaching team to implement regularly next year, is doing what they did against Port with the third man up. They made sure someone like Bugg, who was never going to win the clearance, sacrificed himself to man the opposition player, who would otherwise go up third man against Max. We just let Geelong do it time and again today and Carlton did it last week too. It kills us.
  4. It's all about our midfield and leadership, J. Our ball movement and general forward 50 entries were deplorable as they were last week. The lack of pressure on the outside of the contest and inside it from our mids was palpable. Geelong mids continually waltzed out of the midfield unpressured and as a result were able to hit up opposition forwards. There was very little our backs could do, but it didn't help Jetta was totally off his game. Our fumbling in the midfield became endemic and it just wasn't our day. But there's one thing I won't excuse and that's lack of effort. Goodwin should be nailing blokes between the eyes after that performance. It'll tell us a lot about how we respond to adversity next year. Oh and Nathan Jones is no leader. I know that’s not a popular opinion around here, but wake up. He's not.
  5. I wonder what sort of impact a loss like today's has on attracting players. We definitely need Mitchell, but no chance after today.
  6. Oh and some of our supporters were almost as embarrassing as our players today, marching around with a Roosy is the Messiah banner when we were 85 points down. What a joke.
  7. I haven't been so embarrassed since I was in Geelong for 186. 148 was boring. 186 and today's performance in a hostile, arrogant environment are the most embarrassing experiences in footy. Some of you who have sat in the comfort of your own home and probably turned off the TV at the end of the first can say whatever you like. You can say it doesn't matter. You can say we're young and inexperienced, but the lack of intensity, work rate and downright lack of mere effort was disgusting. I don't think the players quite grasp what it means to be a Melbourne fan. Today, they may as well have smacked me in the face and smeared [censored] on my back. This collective have a lot of work to earn back any respect I had for them before today. It was completely extinguished today. We paid good money to go and watch them play and they turned in that performance, without a care in the world. The only time we lifted our intensity and tried at all was when faced with a 100 point margin and even then we failed to stop it. The buck has to stop with the leadership group and our captain yet again.
  8. Frost and Hunt. Easily. And we will go below 100% and to 11th after this limp ugliness.
  9. It's been a successful season, but this isn't good enough. Whatever momentum could have been built for 2017 has been dashed and whatever could have been learnt from last weekend's disgrace has clearly not been.
  10. Vanders wouldn't get a game for too many other clubs. Yet again, his handballs all go to team mates' shins and whenever he has the ball, he takes an eternity to get rid of it.
  11. Put his good goal aside, Vandenberg is a slow ordinary footballer.
  12. Tommy Mac is not at fault. It's right in front of us. The midfield has been insipid.
  13. Viney hasn't once kept his feet today. Hopeless.
  14. This game is a lot more important than many give credit. A win builds momentum and excitement for pre season and the 2017 season. As Roosy said in his presser, the importance of that win over a depleted GWS in Round 23 last year set up pres season and 2016. FWIW, I think we'll win. Just need to shut down Dangerfield and Selwood. Do that and we win.
  15. Well done, MFC. Also loved Roosy's words in his presser about both former captains. I don't think Jack will make it, but I'm much happier giving him another contract than some others. As the OP says too. It's the right thing to do. I like that we're repaying the loyalty he showed us.
  16. Thompson showed more at the MFC for mine than Salem has, but happy to give Salem a bit of time. It's basically what good clubs do.
  17. Mitchell would bring experience, not only in a top notch educational environment, where he learnt off some of the best leaders in the game, but also finals experience and big game experience. He's in the perfect age bracket and would add further A grade depth to our midfield. Outside of pace, just about the perfect target for us right now.
  18. My point was they're all coming through at the same time. Fast forward 8 years into the future...
  19. Totally agree. Too many Demonlanders are happy to rest on their laurels in regards to our engine room.
  20. I think it's a combination of things with Salem. Yes, injury is one of them, but also we've only seen attributes and anyone that says they've seen his best is disillusioned. We haven't seen his best. He's one of the kids on our list that seemingly has the tools to become an absolute top grader, but in his three years on the list hasn't managed to show us his best. Again, I'm a fan, but he'd be one I'd entertain a trade for the right price, whereas the rest of our young brigade are untouchable for mine. They are: Tyson, Viney, Hogan, Brayshaw, Hunt, Oliver, Petracca, Gawn, Stretch, Frost, the McDonald's and Weideman.
  21. The 29 year old that can't get on the park? He's also on close to a mill and hails from Sydney. He's home and playing in a finals contender right now. No chance I'm afraid. But he is the sort we'd look at.
  22. Don't get me wrong. I still think he'll probably end up at Hawthorn, but it's not the smartest move from him. He certainly won't 'sure up' his future with a move to Hawthorn.
  23. Love ya, Roosy. If ever there was a time to write him an email, now would be it. He was quite moved in that Roos Views finale. I hope he gets to see 'his' demons win a flag or two in the coming 3-5 years.
