  1. There has to be more to it than this. The only change in personalle between re-signing him and now, is Goodwin in a head coach position. He must have done something, or got caught with something.
  2. Good. Ill be disappointed if we dont package these picks for a competitive depth player of the Maynard or Vandenberg variety.
  3. Except Geelong said nothing of the like re. his attitude.
  4. Needs to improve his tank but what I like is that he stands up when others around him don't, and he loves the big games. I'm not sure we'll ever see a "breakout" season, maybe just general progression and improvement. Make no mistake though, him, Oliver, and a full fit Brayshaw in the team play at their full capacity makes us a top 4 team. They are the difference right now.
  5. It's never one player, but they are often the catalyst. You could easily argue that Vickery leaving Richmond filled a cultural and standards gap that he was causing.
  6. That is...bizarre.
  7. Ralph is taking crap. Watts is in Adelaide for Bernie's wedding and the story has snowballed from there. Media now just trying to add fuel to it all and are banking on the inevitable so they can amplify their relevance and say "SEE WE TOLD YOU!". Port is the only logical location regardless.
  8. Don't disagree but ruck is a position that demands accountability. If anything, his move into that position is an indictment on his efforts elsewhere. He plays unaccountable football up forward and goes missing on tougher opponents that hold him to account when competing for position and possession. In the ruck the position itself is a non-negotiable: it's the last true position where body positioning and contact is a necessity and unavoidable. It just magnified how badly he goes missing against opponents that apply minimal pressure. I think part of Jack's problem is that for his whole career he's been played as a utility/forward with no clear directive. That's one thing that pisses me off about his development. From 2010 he should have been played down back to teach him what it takes to beat your opponent consistently and play accountable football. Even on a bad day a ruckman is still accountable because they need to compete at most contests. A forward can get away with it because there are more variables, delivery being one. There's no way he *couldn't* have competed playing ruck.
  9. Where was that posted? ANB is top 10 at the club imo. Way ahead of Salem, Brayshaw and Kent.
  10. Beyond that, he went straight to the club, admitted to have one pint and wasn't really "drunk", was just done because he was on his P's. I think it's one thing to be a teenager and get in trouble for literally having one drink, and being an 8-year player that still needs to have standards set.
  11. Imo Richmond of 2017 were better than Bulldogs of 2016.
  12. What does his latest Instagram post suggest? Seems to be Sandringham with the caption "nothing has changed, see you soon". If he doesn't nominate a club, does he stay?
  13. What we traded to get him is.
  14. Yeah of course. I like that he's at the club but the whole thing is reliant more on us performing well more than it is Adelaide drafting well with those picks.
  15. This trade is essentially backing in the current group of players and coaching team. If we finish lower than 4th we've absolutely gifted Adelaide two good young players for one. This is the epitome of the club drinking its own bathwater. I don't mind it, and good to see the club backing itself in. But gee, it's an immense risk.
  16. Cats may well win the flag next year, but Ablett is finished. 10 games maximum next year.
  17. Eh. How many super drafts have Sydney, Hawthorn and Geelong not been part of the past decade? We have a core group of youngsters set. It's about filling in the pieces now which Lever helps do.
  18. Maybe better training standards? Physio? I was playing state-level basketball, football and tennis at the same time, which I assume led to the injury. Also went through a growth spurt and I remember my physio saying it was common in boys my age who were highly active. I was lazy with my stretching and recovery though, so maybe that's a contributing factor? It was so tight that sitting stationary for more than 10 minutes and then standing up would have me literally screaming in pain. And then I'd tense up which would affect the muscles around and...well...let's just say I went from bouncing off the walls in all facets to not wanting to do anything or have anyone touch me. It's a super sensitive area for obvious reasons so I imagine clubs just got on top of it (pun not intended) and managed the recovery of that area more. It's essentially an overuse injury, not something you get during a game or anything like that. So it makes sense that as training standards have improved, the rate of the injury has decreased.
  19. He had a great 2000 but the dreaded OP killed his 2001 and he just wasn't the same player in 2002. I had OP in my last year in high school and I remember reading an article where Powell said it was so bad he would fall to the ground in pain getting out of bed. It was the same for me and it is an awful injury to have because it completely ruins your mobility (and libido). There were quite a few players in the early 2000s who got it but you dont hear about it much anymore.
  20. ANB. No surprise that Nibbler's career best season coincided with Garrett's best season for us.
  21. "Tomas"? I've been spelling it Thomas.
  22. The hate aimed at this kid from AFL nuffies is Selwood-like. You know you've got a keep when opposition fans hate his guts, AND he's winning awards.
  23. Rubbish. If throwing a contract extension and throwing him up as a pinup boy and marketing tool is akin to throwing him to the wolves, well then every club does this for every player ever! Roos made an effort with positive reinforcement and it's clear that Watts is the catalyst of an unprofessional stench that continues to linger.
  24. Didn't he ask to be let go/retired?
  25. In Goodwin's defense, he's made it clear that he isn't interested in the past and is creating new history with his time as coach. That he's come in, dismissing the fact Watts has been a scapegoat for a decade yet still sees an issue there, is an indictment on Watts and certainly the club more broadly for having allowed it. I think there's a lot we don't know and I take it that his preparation post injury was the final nail in the coffin for a player that probably had a very interesting character assessment already established for Goodwin when he started. Roos has come in and applied positive reinforcement. We've given players everything they need to excel and grow their game. That we're still having these issues with him is an insult to the club and fans. He's not the sole reason for our end to the season, but I argue he's the catalyst. If he has the potential to be the cherry on top of a good team, fair to say he's going to stand out when the cherry is bruised. Imo this is 100% in his corner now. I believe the club is prepared to keep him but he simply won't play and will languish in the VFL if standards drop. Maybe him playing round 1 this year was the wrong choice considering the reasoning behind him not playing preseason.
