  1. Getting him into the play, even if playing as follower for large parts, might be good for him to find his balance in the game. and hopefully confidence. I want to see him taking marks all over the ground, more-so than being stuck in front of goals. Get him where the ball is, and in the action. The main thing is to get him firing up.
  2. ssshh ? they'll all want to. I don't mind that. If he Leverage has the legs ? Petracca in the goal square, leading up and roaming; but rotating with Hogan, R/R to F/F. If Frost is in the forward pocket as well, while TMc is injured, (defensive tall forward, stopping opposition marking) and 2nd efforts at ground level using his speed over the ground to get to contests,,, Petracca to lead up, and to rove the ball, use his power to break tackles and score. I wonder ?
  3. It appears to be Veuve Click`quot bath-time again... get your Champagne Glasses ready to dip boys.
  4. It's all over the ground, we are lacking generally in field play & perceived pressure, in all ways. we are just green. We lack offensive perceived pressure, cause we're green, Not dominant. We lack midfield pressure for same, and a bit of pace wouldn't hurt. but we are green. Similarly down back we have green holes, and make mistakes, cause of inexperience and players haven't played a hundred games together under the same footy plan. when we become a tight Unit down back that can rip sides with outr run from the back, then we will find we are using more perceived pressure against any opposition They will have to spend more of their thoughts worrying about us, and that will give us some more time. atmo we're All green. We are a young list on the UP, but maturing will take time. We will hopefully play finals this year, and get that kick along with it, but we will plateau I expect for a while, while we mature further. Which is all good, because we can still add further talent during any plateauing, from recruiting; and building from underneath. Sure as Hell all other clubs will keeping building from grass roots up, and we Must not stop doing this: see Saints under Lyon.
  5. Not just uncontested, we need to be better in the air, generally. This is where I hoping 'Weide' comes into his own when he's ready to roll. This is why TMc & Pedo were so successful for us last year, it changed our attitude across the team,,, with those guys mobility thru the mid part of the ground; as well as forward. But the tall support thru the mid-ground is key to us feeling confident, & backing ourselves to run to receive. Its not just the height but the Bulk of the tall and the strength. Helping our runners out. Don't worry about the kicking, we have players who will come in when they're ready, who can kick; but need to learn to play the game in a suitable Devilish way... and we need to recruit more good kicks. Sloane? And then some kids strong overhead. I'm hoping 'Weide' man will be a wood'chip off the old DNA linage. Follow me?
  6. No, not trying to to turn him into a forward, he can be led to the high ball. The cats marking in our attack was an issue. This idea would be, in a circumstance like on the weekend, when we are bombing the ball high, and they are controlling that, that Frost could have been swung into attack as a Defender. Not trying to mark the ball, unless he finds himself alone inside 50. Frost's role in this circumstance, would be to provide a contest and stop the Cats from marking the high ball, creating a ground contest, and bringing our smaller forwardline players into the contest, or at least halving the contests. If the ball ends up in a stoppage that's fine. If the loose ball ends up with Garlett or Fritsch, even better. That's all I'm saying. If our tall forward players were too high, and the cats were just catching & running off. We want to be playing the game in our forward half of the ground. Not theirs.
  7. Brisbane v D's Jetta OMac Hibbo Wags Lever Gus Melksh Hogan Lewis Fritsch Pedo Jones Garlett Trac Frost Gawn Clarry Salem ANB, Dom, Stretch, Spargo, Bugg, Inj: Vince,
  8. He played youth early part of season last year? Is he doing the same again? The future? I'm OK with Salem, and Fritsch, but maybe Stretch fits in somewhere, if one misses out. Possibly for Hannan? I would like to see Brayshaw roaming near our defensive zone. I don't really want him in-under. We could have used Frosty last week, as much forward intercepting the ball to make a contest and bring the small players into the game, as down back.
  9. Forward pocket, when Pedo on ball? Or rotating from bench?
  10. http://finalsiren.com/MatchDetails.asp?GameID=7875&Code=8fe7745680143c6e54012245afd3b8ab
  11. I the future sometime, I'd like to see Brayshaw down back. Asa hair happarent
  12. We cannot afford senior players taking the game off, anytime. If we are to make finals for the 1st time in 12 years? Disappointment. very.
  13. Frost forward would have been handy with his pace, & marking Or bringing the ball to ground, inside our 50. A defensive tall forward ?
  14. It always seems to happen, that when Our players make some sort of on-field statement, & start feeling comfortable and secure, then they slack right off. Could it be that Jeffy is just too happy with his footy and position in the side?
  15. MbS. Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Has he 'announced himself' to the world. https://theintercept.com/2018/03/21/jared-kushner-saudi-crown-prince-mohammed-bin-salman/ It is said that the next war will start in Asia. And the New Leader will be known to the West, prior to his newfound ambition. It's said the King of the South will go, against the King of the North ? Could it be? https://stepfeed.com/mbs-says-saudi-arabia-will-build-a-nuclear-weapon-if-iran-does-3756 I will be watching this with a lot of interest.
  16. It's called a Band-Aid. They're not talking about the team on the day. Its more than that. deeper. All I can say is the club had better hurry-up, and find a home base; because people are sick of giving, and 'being taken'. see: multinationals, politicians, taxes, etc, etc. people want contract, want to feel they belong, and want that proven. they don't want to be shut out by fences and locked gates. they don't want separate after match get-togethers based on money or cloth. they want a sort of, e-quality. this is the one constant failing
  17. Marking the footy consistently is a great pressure relief valve. They can't touch us when we mark the footy. If under the pump, the ability to catch the ball under pressure is a get out of jail free card.
  18. We won't win a flag with Vince &/or Lewis on the field. But they are needed, whilst we are all so inexperienced, footy uneducated. They are they're to lead the right way, & to teach and stabilise, but they are looong in tooth. We need Sloane and maybe one other yet, to replace these 2 Veterans. We won't do much of anything until Viney's about 26Yrs of age. Thats when IMO, our list will really come of age.
  19. This is what I thought that we were short one tall. But thought the brains trust is going for a strong running side. But the Cats won to much 1st touch's. And the structure, with our defence too open, for too long.
  20. Welcome to the club 'df'. I've been feeling that way for 15Yrs. Not the question of list depth, but just a cynic, about when if ever we will learn to overcome this Clubs frailties;... rather than the players that go out there so much, because both parts are key. It's the environmental culture that is the common thread in all Eras teams... since the the time of the demise our our last leaders who won us flags. It is the only part of the club that has never been turned over & freshened up. And it has effect on players, of all Era's. And the crowds emotions come across very clearly on game-days, so any negativeness is 'amplified' directly to the players... just as hunger is relayed to the Tigers players when the smell of 'footy blood' is in the AIR. The Tiger Army turn it on like a ZULU War Cry. And their players respond.
  21. That's why he needs game into him, for more experience, as does Hannan. I think the side showed a lot of fight to get back in touch on a number of occasions. These 2 are probably our most natural half-forward players, and skilled. They need plenty games, to get up to speed in that spot.
  22. I think by the structure of the side picked, that we want to be (the footy dept') a more offence based team this year... to sacrifice a little defence, to be more threatening on the scoreboard. I hope this is not a membership drive strategy. Great and strong defence/pressure, is a proven finals winning strategy. I don't want us to go back to the style of demons of the mid 2000's. With little interest in true defence and pressure.
  23. I have no doubt that he will show something, and then, show plenty. I'm in no out-standing hurry for that to happen. As I reckon that when he does come on, he will be just what Dr ordered. And then we will be a more complete outfit.
  24. I would say that only Picket and JKH did not deserve the whipping they copped. Pickets was torn a new one by supporters on the no bruise bandwagon of that time. He was umpired out of the game. Nowadays its common place to crash bodies just not the sacrosanct head. Hello J Selwood, you lookin' at moi? JKH is just an honest toiler who has no preconceptions on his ticket, accept that he knows he has to be a bloody heard worker to make it. As did Nibbler, just over 12 months back.
