And you didn't roll the Jaffas down the steps? the Hopoate twins? 1/2 a dozen blue oysters?
-
Just make sure he's totally right to play, or tell him to miss 1 match to get it cherry. We do not want another Viney, TMc, or Trenners again, for the sake of just one Casey game. Its early season, and we can do without for a single game.

Richmond forward half isn't working atmo, like last year. A combo I think of a hangover, and other clubs making adjustments to tactics. I think the tigers small quick forwardline is just a bit too far on the small quick side. Which did work for them last year. Maybe in time Smith for us with his speed & leap, could help out with our mod's to a small quick forward zone. In time, will tell. I think its either Frost or Petracca, this week. and maybe a 3way rotation... through the mids. Hogan, Petracca, Frost?

Don't dis-count Gawn up forward as well, at times.

Petracca

Last year you could have said that about OMc. The year before that, you could have said it about Nibbler. Each footy season seems to bring a spring surprise.

The "already developed" term, was in reference to his footy development.. not his mind/emotional development. That's the point of the post, that 'the inner club culture' has to be strong, beneficial, & supportive, with strong discipline. The doggies seems to me, a raw culture changing almost daily. they were a young talented team without enough senior leaders who could hold things together. They rode the crest of an emotional wave through to the Premiership, and never really got off that wave until it crashed ashore. Now its spot the pieces, and pickup what you can find. Stringer Wines and Grundy were my picks, to go with Viney, who was a lock for us. I wanted big size mids in that draft. And those who had other skills, like forward skills. see (Grundy & Stringer) It turns out the best options from hindsight show us that Wines & Grundy would have been the better partners for Viney. And we had one of them in the palm. Oh Toddy.

most footy supporters are from the lower half of this equation. If footy is about community, and the rotation of goodwill, & also money moving across that community, how is it good for most of it (money) to end-up in the pocket of too few ? This is not good for anything, Let alone footy and community.

Do we have to continue the bentleigh club, til 2021 ? Or can we shut the pokies down and sell the place?
-
Yes true but it also shows how impressionable young players heads are, & the so called "already developed" argument is. And how arrogance is destructive in a club environment. One minute world beaters, next minute pillow fluff.
-
True but !!! This could be the making of our young side. Their time out injured is a great opportunity for our young players to fill the breach & go in firing. Take the lead. young guns.
-
So was Jake Stringer prior to drafting.

That's what happened last year, when we dropped Pedo. Brought back Gawn too soon, and the wheels started wobbling until they broke. And then, so did we. Most supporters only see the players attack on the footy & then if/when they have it, & what they do next. Not as much off the ball stuff, it goes unnoticed, not looked for. Its in this area the club has to improve, in the little off the ball 1% 'r things, to help our teammates.

Has Viney had collagen injections in his Lips ?

What would you pay more money for to help the MFC further stabilize?
DV8 replied to DaveyDee's topic in Melbourne Demons
A new training/admin & social facility isn't so much about the current Mfc members, as it IS about our future supporters & members coming on-board with this club. To Add to our existing members. To get this club back in-touch with its base, grass roots. & let them grow lush. -
I agree chook. Lets return the club back to the people and footy supporters of RednBlue... let the people back Inn.

Lets not kill the kids 1 game good start to 2018, with bringing him up to AFL, too raw. As we did last year Goody wanted to see a block of good form over say a month, prior to elevating a player to AFL level. I reckon that's good sence. Lets see him really earn it, and also feel like he's in top nick and deserves it, first.

I think Alan Jarrot might have kicked a drop kick?
-
Alan Noonen ? Wasn't that 'Ernie' ? I remember that. From the kickout box to just past the centre circle.
-
Actually, a high percentage Moony, high for the supporters, enjoyment,,, and for the kids. koas ball is excellent against a highly regimented defence, that is on torp of its opponents. The torp is unpredictable, the antithesis of a disciplined tight press... and the pleasure of supporters. 'imagine', spontaneous joy from the die-hard supporters.

Why? Waite had a licence to Rome; and used it. He wandered deep back in his roaming, on occaisions. I want OMc on BBrown ,with Lever to chopout defenders when needed. Starting Lever off the Wing. So Frost in, is only 2 tall defenders (OMc & Frost) with 4 running backs. Lever as a tall Winger starting back corner of the sqare. and a licence to Rome. If Waite ventures into our forwad half, I'll be pleased to have Frost down their with him, looking for the footy. Let Waite take him to the ball, or just have Frost there using his pace. I'm sure we could hit him up.

I like your analysis stmj. train as you play... I wonder if the Lions train when its most humid and slippery, up in brizzy. Maybe that is something we could adapt into our training, on occaisions; soak the ground Pre training to create a slippery training environment, to aid our ball handling skills, for coming wet &/or night games. It wouldn't hurt having to handle the ball in slippery training conditions, fairly regularly. We complain about our skill levels, lets train in harder conditions then to master them.

It's about the culture of the club, ours is too passive/submissive. This is an environmental thing; that is the energy surrounding the whole club; has been for 50 years. This energy field is controlled by all the feelings of all the Mfc people congregating at club functions, from training, to games, to social get-togethers. This IS the Club Culture of the Mfc. And it can change Via the way the clubs support base feels collectively,,, when around its supporters friends, and around the club. We need to become more assertive/powerful,,, when thinking talking about the Mfc in general. To shift this submissive collective feeling of "Woe is Us @ Mfc". I would hope we can at least all try to be more aggressiveness in our approach,,, to the club being more aggressive about change,,, about home bases, about recruitment, and about development, of club and of players, and of academies etc. Even in your post there is an attitude of negativity rather than inquisitiveness to explore the concept. "That's all Platitudes",,, is the opening comment from a closed mindset. We have the habit of shutting down any new ideas, that try to aid the club. Just abs much as we attack other posters with differing views and ideas. .
