2020 the best of the lot. So we better wait until then, before using our ND picks.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
I think thats why they did the deal, & the AFL wouldn't like it dragged into the courts once again, just as the drugs saga is being put to bed. it also allows us to focus on further improvements, if opportunity knocks. I'm very happy to have M Hibberd. ... now, i'm also disapponted we don't have any real national draft action to look forward to.

The list managers are all playing mind games, so the only ones who know whats going on is the list mangers individually, in their own thoughts. The media are just picking up the spilt scraps.. Purple is just one of the seagulls.

thats worth zilch. he can walk because of the drugs saga. And a safe working environment.

That makes sense, & likely Mahoney was aware of this... It probably helped us, as the Hawks would be desperate to rejig their midfield with young guns. Hence the cheap pick arrangement for Jordan.

I know, those browngold colours put the vision off colour, don't they.

Also it helps us spread the age group of our kids, so they will likely develop at differing stages. We don't want too many all under 22Yrs. See what happens with the Hawks when all their guns are over 30 during the same seasons. There comes a time when we need to spread our ages a bit.

isn't Dunn out of contract? so why would he eat our salary cap next year? Just give him a 'nudge', & whisper gently into his shell like. He'll notice.

It would be great to see the Wiz back at the 'G' watching his boy lineup in Red'n'Blue.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DECLAN KEILTY
We would just pay the fees for the kids education whilst on that list. as long as the kid is holding his part of the contract, it carries on till draft time. Each club would have 3 pre-draft picks from they're own academies, including any father/sons. All other academy kids, or father sons not in the [3], would be able for other clubs to bid on, for the draft.

Well that's wrong. We already have father sons, as well & academy's,. so the draft on its own doesn't work, because you get clubs 'list management' going on, to get a preferred player.

Your missing the point CB, the national draft still exists. But the first few top kids get to stay local. Its not like the old zone recruitment area, with no draft. I agree, it was lousy & unbalanced, but in today's schools environment, & the effort parents, teachers,, & clubs put into teaching kids its all very different. It just helps keep up to 3 top kids at home, per year, per club. This would also bring back the interstate clubs academy's back to the field, as they would also be restricted to just 3 free picks, before any bidding started for other academy kids.

I disagree strongly, there is far too much of interstate players wanting to leave to go home. This is bad for supporters who get attached, & it is for the clubs losing these star players. Each club should have an academy of scholarship kids from within their own designated zones which the clubs will develop & nurture. Each club should have 3 pre-draft selections per draft for their choice from their academy group. Father/Sons should be included in this 3 pre-draft selections. After the clubs have nominated their 3 pre-draft selections, any other academy kids should be open to being selected in the national draft on a bidding system, as we have now. This helps supporters, with local Hero's staying home, so the Tribalism returns back to the game. It keeps local Heros's local. And it encourages clubs to interact within their own zones. Bringing back a communal closeness to the AFL's clubs.

If/when we get our academy, we can do likewise. All clubs should have a junior academy from say 16 yr olds +. a schooling scholarship, & taught under elite coaching, but only playing school & Tac cup until say 17yrs minimum, then play VFL from 17yrs, if or when they're ready. But not allowing footy to get in the way of school studies up to Yr 12.

It sounds a bit like Gary Ablett jnr. Poor choice for captain. And Judd, again, not the best choice for captain. Clubs need Mitchell, Hodge, or Cam Smith types, to lead them.
