Someone asked one of the coaches or recruiters a while ago about Smith. The reply was that he's just too inconsistent. He'll kick a bag one week and then do nothing for the next three.

The bits I heard on the Radio, they were raving about his vision and the creative hand passes he gave off to create goals.

I can't see Carlton going for that. They trade away their quality forwards. The backs they just play in the reserves until they give up in disgust.

It drives me up the wall when I see one of our players try to pick up the loose ball when they know they are about to be tackled. It is so easy to just tap or kick the ball on to a teammate, or even to the open space ahead, but instead they will try to pick it up and get tackled every time.

We had the same number of scoring shots and won the contested possessions. Unfortunately we kicked 13 points while they kicked 12 goals. They also had a few players we just couldn't stop.

A lot of the better teams do use the grubber kick in this scenario. They belt a low hard chaos ball downfield and back their teammates to win the ball. In many ways it is a better move than a high ball that can be marked. I wouldn't like to see us doing it quite yet because many of our players have poor hands and wouldn't be able to take the ball cleanly, but in a few years if we see some improvement in that area it would be a very good tactic.

It certainly ruined THAT trip

Never went to Bern, but I found Switzerland in general to be pretty poor. The people were worse than the French for being rude and arrogant. It's a pity those beautiful mountains are surrounded by all those damn Swiss.

Completely different situation. Hogan has lived here in Melbourne for years now. Harris has flown down a few times to do training camps and play exhibition matches. She is not officially part of our list. She has also been playing for the Brisbane side in their matches this year.

Sounds about right. The AFL making things harder for everybody. There was an article a few weeks ago talking about the whole mess which said that they couldn't claim her until they had officially been granted the license. I assumed that now they had it the deal was done, but I can't confirm that.

So no trade required, although it could be a good move to trade for him rather than go through the court process and setting a worrying precedent.

Tayla's already signed on with Brisbane to be their first Marquee player. I guess we can't blame her given she lives there. Pity though. She's turning into a hell of a player.
