  1. Everything I have ever heard about Tom says he is a young man of integrity. I seriously doubt that he would go a season lying to his teammates if he had signed with another club. Far more likely he would be open about it. If I believe this then I believe that he has not signed with another club. He may do so at a later date, but that will not be until after the end of the current season, so I'll worry about it then.
  2. I can't believe that Cam Schwab was on the committee that came up with the concessions and left us open to this crap.
  3. Holy cow, that's two of us who can add up! Thank God there is someone else in this thread who is thinking logically. Yes they can offer him big bucks, but not as much as has been thrown about in the media. While I don't doubt they are looking at Tom, will not be their first priority, so the bulk of the money they have spare will be earmarked for other (bigger name) players. Perhaps if their other targets were to fall through they would offer him the world, but I think they will be more concerned with getting the big drawcard and building up a spine than poaching a young potential star.
  4. The important difference being that we traded for him. We gave up picks 2 and 18 to secure him, so in no way can Fremantle be said to have suffered, and we had to sacrifice to get the deal done.
  5. I wonder if this means Moloney will stop being suspended for failing to make contact with people's heads.
  6. Vlad will state that there is no issue and that the system is fair and balanced.
  7. I'm really sick of hearing about GWS on a forum about the Demons.
  8. I seem to recall Green turning down a bigger pay packet as well a couple of years ago.
  9. Nonsense. I applaud the decision to close the other threads down. The last thing we need is to flood the place with pointless speculation about something that none of us know anything about. Personally, I'd like to see them shut this thread down as well.
  10. I think we're a chance of winning the first one, but will be handicapped by the rules governing playing consecutive matches. 1 win is fine by me. I'd obviously be thrilled if we won both but I can't see it happening.
  11. Nope. Maybe no. 2?
  12. It was a truly dark day for the AFL when they signed off on third party player payments. It's opened a huge can of worms and I don't think they'll ever be able to get the situation back under control. The salary cap is dead.
  13. We won't know which way he's leaning for months, and possibly not until the end of the season and trade time, so why not drop it until we have something to discuss?
  14. I'm puzzled as to how anyone could be saying that about Melbourne. After all, there are at least half a dozen other clubs out there who have benefited heavily from the draft and could be said to have tanked to gain those benefits in recent times. Hell, two of them played off in the GF last year. We don't even have the most no. 1 picks. That dubious honour goes to Carlton. I think whinging from opposition supporters is a touch sad to be honest.
  15. I don't honestly believe that a fan forum will have any bearing on whether he stays or goes. I wish it could, but he will make his decision based on other factors. Realistically, if he's after quick cash he'll go to GWS, because there is no way we can match what they will offer. If he want's long term success, a better lifestyle and a healthy club culture he will stay. It all boils down to what he values.
  16. I think these numbers would have to be a little on the inflated side. They only get a few years of salary cap concessions. To offer this much to Tom would eat up most of the extra, leaving them little or nothing to throw at other players. If they are into Bartel or Swan, those are the guys who would be looking at millions. To offer it to Scully would be absurd. That being said, I am very concerned that they will offer him way over market value to try to lure him away from us. It's not really a smart move, but nothing about GWS is smart.
  17. Perhaps his arm has been drinking and was plastered?
  18. Funny thing. I can actually get to that. My shifts changed and I no longer work on Thursday mornings. Any other day that week would have been a wash for me. Now, do I wake up at 7am on my morning off to go to a game or do I catch up on sleep?
  19. What he said. If it is at Casey at 6 then I can get there for the half a match or so after work. I haven't been able to see the team at all so far this year.
  20. How reliable is this info? I haven't seen anything on the club website, although admittedly I'm looking for an article on the homepage.
  21. It's a bummer, but I'm not that fussed. One player, even one like Chip, does not make the team. Warnock is a very capable stopper, although he doesn't give us the run from defence that Frawley does. He is more than capable of holding the forwards we'll be facing. I don't agree with the people saying he had a bad 201. He did some very good jobs for us, but was exposed because he isn't great with the ball in his hands. His smashing of Hall was one of the highlights of the season for me. Anyway, the point is that while it robs us of some run, we have this covered. I think the loss of Petterd and LJ last year hurt us more.
  22. Depends on what he's done.
  23. The Brisbane and Sydney games of course. Sylvia Kicks 5.
  24. Congrats to the White family. Let's hope they grow up strong and healthy, and preferably athletic like their old man. Good kicking would be a bonus too.
  25. Oddly, what I want even more than that is to beat North Melbourne. They've been able to walk all over us in recent seasons and I don't think there is that great a gap between us. For us to take them out would be a big step in the right direction.
