  1. He's had a couple of stints with Claremont before. That would be the first port of call I'd think. See if they were interested in taking him on for a season. They are a good club who have produced some good players. Obviously he'd have to be put on a protein diet and locked in the gym, but I think that's the direction for him.
  2. If he wants to get looked at seriously as an AFL prospect in the future he needs to move away from the NT leagues. He made a pretty poor impression at draft camp and it will take work to overcome that. A much better move would be to move to Perth or nearby and get into a WAFL side. They play a much higher standard, they would force him to play a more rounded game and he'd be more in the AFL spotlight than playing in the NT. Give it a season or two out there and he could well be another Tom Lee-type pick up.
  3. Well, I think we can safely say that the only club that will touch him now is Collingwood.
  4. Most Kicks: Nathan Jones Most Handballs: Jack Grimes Most Disposals: Jack Grimes Most Tackles: Jordie McKenzie Most Marks: Jeremy Howe Most Goals: Mitch Clark Nothing too imaginative there, but I suspect it will be pretty close. I'm assuming Mitch will be able to get himself right for the season and stay more or less fit. If he doesn't, there could be a surprise in someone like Blease bobbing up with a few big hauls and pushing Dawes and Pedersen for the title.
  5. What, kick a record number of consecutive points? I want Viney and Tapscott to be suspended for Rough Conduct. A full season from Big Mitch. A win against a genuine contender (not the bombers, although I want us to win that one too). To finish in the upper portion of the lower half. To see Watts build on the patch of great form he had last year and show it for the whole season. To see Fitzpatrick push for the third tall forward spot and sneak some games. To see gametime from all of our first year players.
  6. Very annoyed at the club over this. I spent the weekend checking the website for times and locations and up until 2am today (last time I looked) it was still saying Friday the 11th. I check this afternoon and discover that they have updated the site after the fact so it now says the next session is on Monday the 14th at 9.30. This was one of the few times I could actually have gotten out to see the boys train and I missed out because they can't keep their website up to date.
  7. I have to say it again, why is so little made of the injury list in 2009? I just did a little research, and the result is that as of round 19 2009 we had 20 players on the injured list. I wonder how this compares with Carlton from last season, given that they were supposed to have suffered drastically from injuries. To put it in perspective, at about the same time last year we had 15, and the entire football world knew that we were effectively crippled by it. How is it that we played in 2009 with a third more injuries than last year, made many of the same moves to try to compensate, and it is being called tanking? If it was tanking then, why is it not tanking now? Surely the AFL has to investigate our conduct in 2012, since it meets the same criteria? To me, this one factor is sufficient to have all charges withdrawn. No team could have competed with half of their list gone, as has been proven by Carlton and their failure to make the finals with significantly fewer injuries than we had.
  8. Anyone know if Monday is going to be an open session and if so where? I finally have time to get out and see some training and the club website still says Friday the 11th is the next one.
  9. I think Fitzy is going to be competing with Pedersen for the third tall spot. At the moment Pedersen has the front running, but he will need to keep on is toes because If he fails to deliver Fitz will be willing and eager to step in and take it off him. I don't think he's ready to play as a focal forward like Clark or Dawes yet, but the mobile high half forward is perfect for him, and he can certainly step into the ruck if needed.
  10. Sickening news. I really hope he is able to keep it together and get some sort of career going after this. Didn't Max Bailey do something similar before coming good?
  11. Agree with this. We've seen him a few times burn his opponent and find room in dangerous positions around the forward 50. Admittedly, he's often blown those chances, but the poise wo finish his work will come.
  12. Why not carry this further and look at how many Demonland Player of the Year votes we have lost. I'd be quite interested since that relates directly to posters' opinions of the players in question.
  13. I'm not worried. He's still young, and as they keep on telling us, the big guys take longer. Let him keep working at his own pace and in a few more years (about when Jamar's contract is up) he'll be ready to dominate. I call that good planning from the club.
  14. Great reports guys. Always good to get that sort of information about what's happening with the team.
  15. While it's nice to get these good vibes from teh club, we all know that they put this sort of press out every year. They're hardly going to put out a write-up saying a player isn't pulling his weight and maybe they should have looked at trading him after all, are they?
  16. Our boys from bay 13 who did nothing more than take part in a popular activity while watching the cricket you mean? I hate to tell you this but they didn't assault anyone, didn't pee on the floor, didn't tie up a teammate and force alcohol down his throat and let's not forget, didn't actually cause any trouble at all. It doesn't really compare.
  17. I don't need this thread to feel better about things. All I have to do is look at the thread about Anderson quitting and all of a sudden I'm happy again.
  18. Awesome news. Congratulations to the happy couple.
  19. Honestly, I think this is a bit of a storm in a teacup. They went to bay 13 to cheer on Matty Wade (Howe's cousin), had a bit of fun, probably didn't drink all that much and some [censored] complained about them taking part in a Beer Snake. It's not like they started a brawl or anything. Security at those events is a joke, they'll toss you out for anything.
  20. I do question the thing about drafting kids with great leadership. How many leaders do you need at one club? If your entire list is packed with them, then who follows? I seem to recall the English soccer team having issues at one point when they had three strong captains from different clubs on the park at the same time, all trying to be the go-to leader of the side and getting in each others' way all the time. Personally, I think we have a very solid core of young leaders and perhaps that criteria should be moved a little further down the order in what they are looking for in draftees.
  21. The article on his staple removal said he was back in the boot for a bit. Not a big concern.
  22. I put him in the same boat as Manson. Has all the talent, give him a few years in the state leagues to see if he has the desire.
  23. 15 hours is nothing much to stress over. Our IT department forgot to do a backup before upgrading and lost our entire user database once.
  24. I love that he is aware of the fact that he needs to focus and channel that aggression rather than just running around like a bull in a china shop. It's that sort of awareness that makes him such an exciting prospect. Everything I have read has just made me more excited about this guy.
  25. I suspect that if you posted more regularly you'd know that this place is full of whiny spoilt children who take offence at the drop of a hat and launch into ridiculous tirades and attacks at people who dare to disagree with them. Fortunately there are also people who are able to carry on an adult conversation without screaming abuse at each other, so if you simply skim past the ten-year-olds, you can find some useful and interesting information about the club.
