  1. Oscar could easily be a roaming tall forward in the Westhoff mold. He's got a good tank and decent accelleration even if his top speed isn't amazing. Good size, good mark and an accurate kick. He's a great get for us.
  2. I just have to say it, I'm thrilled with this draft. Getting both Petracca and Brayshaw is an insanely good result already, but landing Oscar at 53 as well is way beyond what I'd hoped. Stretch of course, and one of his mates from Glenelg at 40 is a nice touch. Nev upgraded. The only way it could have been better is if Lever somehow slipped to one of our late picks.
  3. I can't believe we got him this late. Amazing judgement from our recruiters. I am so happy with this draft.
  4. Funny, in another thread someone said that the Trengove trade was going to get us Dangerfield.
  5. By the sounds of things, Watts is training the house down.
  6. Could have been Tom, Dick and Harry.
  7. I have to say I think Gary Lyon has let us down by not pushing his three boys to become elite players. Imagine the joy at the club if we had three Lyon boys charging about the field winning us matches. Come to think of it, did Junior have a son at any point? I'd love to be able to cheer on Junior Junior.
  8. Awesome. He looks like a great player in photos. Is he as good in person?
  9. There's a young guy, darkish skin, shaved back and sides hairdo and an AHG shirt on. Anyone know who he is?
  10. Today saw another important milestone in Nev's career. The SEN draft expert when asked about a top 20 prospect said (paraphrasing) "He really looks for the body contact, a bit like Nev Jetta." How many of our players get used in those draft comparisons?
  11. I kind of always thought that this was a bit of a panic pick because we missed out on Lynch. They had decided they were getting a tall with the pick and when Lynch went right before us they just grabbed the next in line despite him not being anywhere near the player and certainly not worth a first round pick. Morton played 73 games for Melbourne. How many did Cook get to again?
  12. I call that a bargain! Front end the deal, get our best player locked away until he's past 30, no FA concerns and depending on how much we pay on the first year we will still have a nice bit put away to lure a big name later. Honestly, 700k for our best player is way below what other clubs are paying the top end of their list.
  13. Wow. I know they like ex AFL players, but I'm not sure this is a great pick up for them.
  14. Re. the Toump, you need to remember that he was taking a fair while to recover from the hip surgery as well. He probably spent most of last year frustrated as hell that his body wasn't doing what he knows it can do. Long term rehabs from things like that can drive you up the wall because you feel fine, but nothing works quite right. If he's now getting his run back then it's a good sign that his body is back and working the way it should. Give him a full pre-season and we should see some good footy from the kid.
  15. Hard to go past Saint Nick out of that list. Funny how we're not the only club to wind up with an average player at no. 1.
  16. I still rate Lever, in particular from the final bit WJ posted "he did stress the importance of character and commitment of young recruits."
  17. Denham says Jones has put his offer to the club. If this is at all accurate, they need to just man up and give him what he's asking. He's won the last three B&F's, he should be our highest paid player. Give him as long a deal as he wants and pay what we need to pay. He's worth it.
  18. Offer him a DFA spot. We have room now that Evans has been cut.
  19. Bear in mind also that he's not a Free Agent of any sort, so we would hold the best hand in trade negotiations.
  20. It seems to be largely speculation with the facts being that Howe declined an offer from GWS and isn't interested in talking about a new contract with us just now. The rest is speculation based on this. We know without a doubt that the Hawks and Cats will make a play for him if he's still uncontracted at the end of the 2015 season because they both regard us as a feeder club for their elite teams. Probably thee would be other clubs sniffing around as well. He's the sort of players any side would like to have. I think it may be a little too early to panic just yet though.
  21. This really does make me sad. Dom did show a bit, had a few moments where the commentators raved. Perhaps more significantly for many on these boards, I am pretty sure given the huge focus on his defensive game that they were planning on using him as an upgrade on McKenzie in the next few years, a quicker tagger with much better skills. Obviously the powers that be at the club also thought he had a pretty good upside. I really do hope that he finds the desire to play AFL at some point and comes back to us.
  22. When is the cutoff date for delistings? It must be some time before the draft to allow players the chance to nominate (although you'd think FA would work better).
  23. Roos has repeatedly been quoted saying that he wants a good quality rebounding HB. This guy could well be it.
  24. Say what you will, I will forever have a soft spot for Evans after his Judo-style throw to chuck a tackler into the fence and keep going. The highlight of his career by a mile.
