  1. This!
  2. Pederson's last year of his 3y deal was 2015 and judging from the stats above he doesn't fit your profile. He's a conundrum for sure...
  3. OK. Interesting. You'd reckon an older age recruit would bust his chops to play but I have since read an article where Melbourne told him after yr 1 that if he didn't lift his game he would be delisted despite having a 3 yr deal.
  4. Probably right. I have no issue if people if they are interested in it. That's great. It doesn't grab me at all.
  5. Is it just me or are there others out there that couldn't care less about this?
  6. Some contradictions in the reports on JKH. One saying he turned it over 50% of the time the other saying he was the standout with maybe one turnover? Any others see him and care to comment? He is a sleeper for us I reckon. Could easily be a player if he gets it right....
  7. Great report GV. I just note as an addendum to your comments on Pederson that he has only played 60 games. Its quite bizarre for someone with his skills and years in the game. He can take a grab, he can ruck and he can kick. I like what he can do and when I watch him he seems to contribute really well but its clear there is something amiss with him in past years. Maybe he is 'uncoachable' as they say, maybe he hasn't had the drive to push himself through pre-seasons. Injuries I don't believe are a huge factor in why he has missed so many games so for me its a bit of a mystery. If he can get his mind right he absolutely has a spot in the 22 for mine but spots look like they are becoming harder to get.....
  8. Alternative facts are still facts. It's all about the perspective. Or selctive editing.
  9. Facts are that you have to turn the list over. Look at Hawthorn. As unpalatable as it is to ease out champions of the club it has to be done. At the other end of the scale it is a revolving door. Guys like Terlich were lucky they were contracted altho the muppet that gave him 3 years should hang his head in shame. You must have young players coming through and sadly giving games to Cross wouldn't have improved us as a team.
  10. A team event? And the whole team was punished? The AFL should hang their heads in shame. And by the way #giveitbackjobe
  11. He was towelled up in the VFL Grand FInal.....
  12. Well actually last century was only 18 years ago......
  13. Positions are almost irrelevant in the AA teams for mine....
  14. LOL trying to justify that comment
  15. Carlton's ruckman of the century was 192cm. Just sayin....
  16. Hibberd is the best kick in our backline. Salem would be up there if he could get on the park. Hibberd is not there to play on tall defenders.
  17. Yeah 4 time premiership player who won their contested posession count and came 2nd in their B&F....I hope he's not that 'stale' when he plays for us.
  18. Just as well otherwise they might end up sounding like dermie. I I IIII I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I .........counted 43 in one article.
  19. Nah it just means that speed isn't everything. Fast does not necessarily equal good or someone with a footy brain.
  20. Frawlet isn't quick but he caught Jetta.
  21. Agree that might be the case but in one clear instance I recall he didn't corral effectively and the opp'n player got past him easily and goaled. Not nailing him for one error but I after that I noticed him again on a couple of occasions where he could have forced the player OOB relatively easily and didn't. It's just something I will watch with him and hope he fixes.
  22. Wagner has two significant flaws that need to be fixed as I see it. His kicking needs work: he turns the ball over quite a lot; and, he has a lack of urgency to attack the player with the ball. Have seen him on numerous times try to corral a player near a boundary line whne he needed to attack the player physically to force him and the ball over the line. Both fixable and forgivable for a 1st year player. Will be interesting to see his development this year but he's no lock for a position in my book until he can fix both of those faults.
  23. Salary cap management is complex but they are accutely aware of who is in or out of contract, how much they might need at each stage of the players career etc, There will always be smokeys and players who get overs relative to performance. And vice versa. They pay upfront where they can so that when players develop they have enough in the kitty to retain them. The best way of retaining them however is success. In short don't worry about the money. we have to pay it every year regardless of who is on the list.
  24. Giving these young men a sense of history and those who went before them is important for their development as rounded individuals and taking opportunities that they have been gifted. Not sure its suited for everyone but from all reports it has been an integral part of the Hawks ethos.
